  1. With the way a Brewers' probable pitching staff of Woodruff/Lyles/Suter/Pomeranz/Hader has been throwing the ball, I'd put those guys up against anyone. Wow, who would have thought back in July and early August that Jordan Lyles, Brent Suter, and Drew Pomeranz would be looked at as key pitching components of a dominant September and playoff run? Baseball is pretty great.
  2. Fixed. Also a cesspool of naive negativity. But ... also a source of up-to-the-second info. I guess that's what I get for looking at the comments.
  3. The Twitter complaining concerning Shaw being on the roster is a little crazy. The guy is still a good defender, and provides insurance for Moose, who is banged up. It's tough to see him getting a key AB tonight, but i suppose it's possible.
  4. Brewers roster out as well. Includes both Cain and Braun. And Travis Shaw. I'm totally here for a Travis Shaw hero moment tonight.
  5. Another year of playoff baseball for our Brewers. As frustrating as watching this team was this year, that is a HUGE accomplishment! I have a strong feeling that Brewer baseball games are going to continue this fall after today as well
  6. No. I think it is obvious that Hiura's defense was not up to MLB standards. It can be argued that it still isn't. We'll never know for sure obviously, but his defense may have lost as many games as his bat would have won over those 21 games. This is beside the point, but I also completely understand why they wanted to give Shaw the opportunity to work out of his slump. It didn't work out. That doesn't mean it wasn't an understandable move at the time.
  7. I've read that Corbin is available out of the bullpen if needed. That's part of why I think Austin over Shaw. We'll have Spang/Gamel available off the bench already. I think I'd rather have Austin PH in the 8th inning against Corbin/Doolittle over Perez. There really isn't a wrong answer though. I'll add, I think the Brewers will be in a fantastic place if either Doolittle or Hudson pitches tomorrow(that or losing by 8 runs and completely toast). Washington has to be thinking Scherzer for at least 5 with Corbin/Stras finishing if the game is close. Even if Corbin is just a decoy, they could easily do 6 and 3 or 5 and 4 with their 2 horses. Both are better options than Hudson/Doolittle. Corbin just threw 94 pitches Saturday, and got shelled in 4 1/3 innings of work against the Indians. I doubt very much they are going to drag him out to face the Brewers on 3 days rest. Of course. who really knows?
  8. If the Brewers win Tuesday, and proceed to go on a run, it is far from a miracle. It's just baseball. And saying that it would take a miracle and calling that a fact is somewhat contradictory, and comes off as a little combative in my opinion. You are more than entitled to your opinion on why you feel this team has the odds stacked against it in the playoffs, but I certainly understand why people read what you said and found it to be defeatist. .

  10. I expect them to win tomorrow because, this last weird series withstanding, the Brewers are the hottest team in the majors. And you're right, Scherzer is an elite talent. But he's also 35, and has been slapped around pretty good all month. Could he bear down and dominate the Brewers tomorrow? Sure. But I also think it's just as likely he gives up 4 runs in 4 2/3 innings. The Brewers are a dangerous team in this postseason because no one really expects anything out of them.
  11. Max Scherzer has a 5.16 ERA in 5 September starts, and has been slapped around pretty good in four of them. I fully expect the Brewers to be able to get to him.
  12. Why would you be surprised? There have been so many times people declared this team dead. Not sure why people can't just enjoy the ride. Yeah, the "I think they are bad, and will lose big, but will be happy to be wrong" predictions are just annoying. I agree with you. This team has been put on the mat so many times, and has managed to get to its feet every time. Nothing they do would really surprise me anymore.
  13. I'm really surprised by how many doubters there are already. This is playoff baseball! Absolutely anything can happen. While I expect a hard-fought, low-scoring game tomorrow, nothing would surprise me. This Brewers team truly is a Wild Card, in that it's true identity is a complete mystery. I expect we'll see three innings from Woodruff tomorrow, followed by either Suter or Peralta (maybe both). Then probably Pomeranz and Hader. Those are pitchers I'd put up against any team. Watching the matchups in tomorrow's game is going to be a lot of fun. If the Brewers can manage to scratch out a few runs, I like their chances.
  14. What, watching guys pitch who won't be on the postseason roster? Because that's exactly what happened. Brewers treated 162 like a Spring Training game, and got a Spring Training result.
  15. I know you are thinking this way, but I can't see any scenario where the Brewers don't play to try to win this. Both games are happening at the same time, and the Cards' bullpen has been far from spotless lately. I suspect the Cubs/Cards game will be close, at least early on. I'm hoping that if the Brewers get some of the lesser guys in to pitch, it's because they are up 8 runs.
  16. At least they have at least another game after today. That's an accomplishment in itself.
  17. It's a new day! Let's go get it! Regardless of what happens in the Cubs/Cardinal game, I think it's important that this team ends the regular season well.
  18. Exactly. That's why it's tough for me to get too worked up over who they face. They are pretty much playing with house money at this point. Well the big advantage for winning your division is that you don't have to win a win or go home game first just to get into the field of 4. Beyond that yeah I don't really care whether they would face the Braves or Dodgers. I'd love to see them win the division. But it has always been a long shot. I mean, the odds maybe got close to 40-50% during those couple minutes after the Cubs/Cards game went final, and before Hader gave up his dinger, but they still go into tomorrow with a chance, which is all you can ask. Pretty phenomenal considering how this weekend has gone so far.

  20. Or, maybe we’re meant to beat the Nats, and to play the Dodgers in a 5 gamer instead of 7. Remember how much pressure will be on those 2 teams. They are expected to win. Pressure pressure. Dodgers will likely sweep us. Just looked at your post history, and every one of them is Cubs-related. Which sorta tells me that you may be trolling. Unless ... Big Al, is that you?
  21. It's not like I'm not pissed too. That game was a haymaker. But this team has managed to get off the mat so many times this year, I just think its foolish to once again write the obituary. I don't think anybody's burying this team yet. You can't. They're in the playoffs no matter what. I just don't think it's worth it to expend the energy it will take to try to win a division that will likely not happen. Save your strength and get ready for Washington. I'm fine with that. I understand that line of thinking. I just can't see the Brewers, knowing the way they are managed, going that route. But who knows?
