  1. I actually agree that there's no way Yelich is winning it this year. He stood a chance had he not gotten hurt. No chance now. In this case, it's probably more the delivery and follow-ups than the actual message.
  2. You do realize that it is super simple to not be, right? This board is too caught up on telling people how to feel, and how to post. Others, including a mod, said the same thing, but sure, single me out. Whatever man.
  3. The mouse infestation in your house gets so bad that you call an exterminator. Two weeks, and $1,000 later, they say that your mouse issue should be rectified. But you wake up a month later, go downstairs to make coffee, and find a small pile of mouse turds on the kitchen counter. That's what it's like playing in a division with the Cardinals.

  5. With every post that you make, you are convincing me even more that you are trolling.
  6. The MVP is largely determined by what players do in the last month of the season, because that's when the beat writers who vote on the award start paying attention to teams other than the ones they cover. Yelich's superhuman September last season worked roundly in his favor in 2018, and the fact that he is going to be absent regardless of what the Brewers do this year works strongly against him. It's a very flawed system, but it is what it is. Hell, if the Mets continue to go on a tear and Alonso continues to hit HRs in bunches, it'll be him sneaking in and taking votes away from Bellinger.
  7. That's the great thing about being a pessimist. If the Brewers fail you get to say "look how clever I am, I predicted this", if they lose you get to see your team do well. It's the easy cop-out, frankly. They get to use the, "Well, I'm glad to be wrong. They defied my expectations!" cop-out. It's pretty nauseating.
  8. If they want any shot at the division, a sweep is ideal, but 2 of 3 is a must. Taking at least one game is essential to maintain WC striking distance. Agree, except for the last part. They could get swept and still be in good shape for WC. Heck, the way the Cubs are playing they could still be in the lead. Not that I want to find out, so let's not get swept ; ) I totally expect the Cubs to right the ship this weekend against the Pirates. And the Mets have all of a sudden figured things out, and are playing almost as well as the Brewers.

  10. Disagree, Baez faded badly down the stretch. Market size makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE. And Hollywood adds even more bias. Yeah, Baez faded. And that's why he didn't win the award last year. The guy had an MVP-worthy year up until September, while Yelich went supernova after a pedestrian first half.
  11. If the MVP award truly was awarded to the player who is the most valuable player in relation to his importance to the team, then Yelich would win it hands down. The Brewers are holding it together right now, but if forced to play the whole season with, for instance, Gamel taking Yelich's spot, I doubt they are sniffing the playoffs. The Dodgers, on the other hand, are wining 90+ games whether Bellinger plays or not. But yeah, Yelich's injury I believe rules out any shot he had of taking home the hardware this year. He'll get votes, though, and will be one of the favorites for the award going into the 2020 season.
  12. Black got it initially, but much have been a quick change.
  13. 11 pitches. Probably shut down for tomorrow, but he'll be good to go Saturday.
  14. Good Freddy is so much fun to watch pitch. Right now their potential playoff pen includes a bunch of guys with solid stuff who can give you 3 innings (including the starters). Match-up guys in Claudio and Jackson. And Ray Black who has the stuff to come in for an inning and smoke you.
  15. Makes it difficult to put him into the "good" or "bad" category.
  16. I'd prefer they play every remaining game on their schedule here, actually. Because... Only on the condition that the Marlins fill out the remaining schedule.
  17. A lot of posters were underwhelmed with the pitchers we got back at the deadline, when this team was absolutely desperate for pitching. We don't know how this season is going to end, but as of right now, the deals for Jordan Lyles, Drew Pomeranz, Ray Black, and (to a lesser extent) Jake Faria are looking pretty deft.
  18. 15 pitches last night. I think i'd rather have him available for tomorrow. Lets put a bunch more runs on the board, and get it to the point where he's not needed.
  19. 10 runs. At least. We might see Perez pitch before we see Burnes.
  20. Grandal is very disciplined at the plate, and rarely swings at balls out of the zone. Other hitters in this lineup are much less disciplined.
