  1. So it looks like Austin, Nelson and Suter up for sure that need 40-man spots. Jeffress released. Still need to additional moves to open spots. Edit: Wilkerson and Stokes DFA'd. Both make a lot of sense, although Stokes is still pretty young. He's been bad this year though. Really bad. Tyrone Taylor's hot steak lately probably kept him from a similar fate.
  2. I'm very surprised that there are still people thinking that the Brewers have a shot yet this year. Very little has gone their way and their big producers haven't been producing consistently. I'm all for being positive, do you honestly believe that this team realistically has it in them? Fans are going to hold out hope until the math doesn't work anymore. May not be logical, but being a fan rarely is.
  3. I'd say the odds are pretty good that he'll be pitching out of the Reds pen next year. And probably pitching pretty well.
  4. Freitas up today, according to Robert Murray. Tyler Austin too.
  5. Jeffress released today, according to Ken Rosenthal. Will open up 40-man spot for Nelson or Suter. Pretty big bummer. Hopefully JJ lands on his feet and is effective somewhere.
  6. Well, this makes sense now. JJ was released today.
  7. Really? I would argue the opposite. Until I started commenting, this thread went a half hour without a post. Try again. Well the Brewers were winning the whole way, so that eliminates the pessimist crowd. A bunch of fans have likely already jumped off the ship. But .... I also believe that I am spot on otherwise.
  8. Big win against the team's arch rival ... and there are 5 users in the IGT. I wonder what could have driven them away?
  9. Good Hader is so, so good. Nice win ... now take the rubber game tomorrow, and lets make this thing interesting.
  10. Yep. He’s definitely trolling now. There are so many different types of people on these boards and it’s the reason it’s great here. Many knowledgeable sports fans. Yet, this guy continues to do this crap. He has gotten a lot of leeway, that's fore sure.
  11. Well thought-out alternative ideas are very much accepted with open arms around here.
  12. I don’t have any statistical evidence but it’s felt like he’s been much better offensively and has had some tough luck outs at the plate. I still think it’d be a mistake to not try him again next season we are just entering what would be considered his “prime” years. Agreed. If the Brewers give up on him, I could see him go someplace like St. Louis and go on a multiple Gold Glove run. He's young enough that there is still some upside there.
  13. Arcia may be maddening to watch hit, but he is fun to watch play D.
  14. Guerra has looked terrific lately. There have been stretches this season where he looked like the worst reliever in the league. Volatile bullpens are volatile.
  15. And that is one of literally dozens of things you've swung and missed on this year. This offense isn't terrible. It is inconsistent. Those are two entirely different things.
  16. Numbers were solid last year, and they went out and signed high performers to shore up the two arguable holes in the lineup at 2B and C. Two former MVPs in the OF, and another that got MVP votes last year. Shaw and Aguilar coming off big years at the IF corners. Yeah, this offense was designed to be good. For the most part they have underperformed. But again, arguing over who sucks more is a stupid argument.
  17. Like who? When I look at the Cubs' lineup it seems like almost every player is exactly statistically where one would expect them to be. Bryant and Rizzo are right around their expected .900+ OPS. Baez played a little over his head last year but around .850 right where you'd expect. Schwarber is exactly the low average, high power guy he's always been. Maybe expecting them to be a little over 664 runs for the season is reasonable, but I'd expect us to be over 632. No surprise that both teams are well below average hitting with RISP relative to their overall offensive rating. For the Cubbies to only have scored 32 more runs than the crew is comical. I mean come on. Let’s be honest here. Both teams had stacked lineups on paper coming into the season. Both have underperformed with the bats pretty significantly. Trying to argue over who has sucked more is a fool's errand.
  18. McCoy is washed. He doesn't offer anything at this point that Jamal Williams doesn't.
  19. Everything you post is your opinion. And most of it is tinfoil hat-level odd. So bashing another poster who is backing up his opinion is odd coming from you. The only reason they signed Cain to begin with is that they didn't have a viable CF alternative. That was roughly 18 months ago. So no, I would not rid ourselves of Cain's contract. He may be a bit overpaid compared to his production moving forward, but I see this team as a contender moving forward, and I don't think you are going to find a better option out there without paying out the nose in either money or prospects for a CF that will be Cain's equal, and I'm not interested in a step down at that spot. So not only do I think that they would not be able to rid themselves of Cain's contract without taking a major hit, I don't think they should.
  20. Well if your right in your calculations, this is a no-brainer decision to trade. Even if your off by let’s say 6-10 million, it still NEEDS to be done. Not sure about FA, but there are in-house or trade options available. The zero Cain CF regression, and 41-51 million in savings make it a easy decision. At a minimum if this team wants to contend next year, quite the changes are necessary. 14-17 million next year can help in better ways. You say this as fact, but you are literally the ONLY person saying it. Joseph literally says in his post that while he believes Cain may have a smidgen of surplus value, but that it doesn't matter because he isn't going anywhere, and instead you glob onto the value thing to drive home the idea that the Brewers NEED to do this? Like it's some sort of foregone conclusion? Wow ... that's all I have to say. Wow.
  21. Got better as they got to the second quarter. He started horribly.
  22. Cody Kessler was cut by the Eagles today. I like him better than Kizer and Boyle. doesn't have Rodgers' arm strength (no one does), but good mobility and smart.
  23. Well, they have one of the better QB recruits in the nation riding the pines because they couldn’t get him “ready” enough to play. Frustrating to say the least. Could a "not ready" Mertz possibly be worse than what we're seeing from Coan right now? I say sink or swim with the young guy. Not gonna go anywhere with a Junior who can't play.
  24. Coan looks Hornibrook-level bad. So sick of this crap ... having a playoff-level team, but can't find a competent QB.
