  1. Obvious already that the offense isn't going to have the luxury of taking a vacation day until the 6th or 7th inning, which has seemingly happened a lot lately.
  2. Good lord. I feel like the Twins lineup is what the Brewers tried (and somewhat failed) to do. Everyone hits bombs.
  3. Burnes has been so awful he is quickly pitching himself out of the picture. He just got demoted to AA, and is now nothing more than a pie-in-the-sky candidate to even make the big leagues next year. Nelson is in danger of non-renewal and still unable to pitch. I think Stearns may use Davies as part of a deal for a #2-3 starter over the winter. I think it's time to stop thinking that Davies has any value at all. People keep throwing his name out there as a trade candidate, but who on earth wants him as anything more that rotation filler, and only if necessary. We'd get nothing for him, zero. I am of the opposite opinion. Why would a team that struggles to find solid starting pitching year after year trade off a young, solid starting pitcher? Davies is always going to be a guy who has rough patches when he struggles with his command, but he's proven to be a substantially above average starter when he's on. The people who want to deal him or just get rid of him justify their reasoning by boiling it down to "durrrrr, he don't throw fast #DERP". A guy like Davies likely holds more value to the Brewers than he would on the trade market.
  4. Ray Black has ben called up, per Robert Murray on Twitter. Faria optioned to AAA. Kinda excited to see what the fireballer can do.

  6. The expectation at the beginning of the season was that the NL Central would be a three team race between CHI, MIL & STL with the two losers maybe being able to snag a wild card, & that is exactly where we are. The odds of us leading the division wire to wire & getting out to a comfy lead like ATL or LA have done were always extremely low. Things have pretty much played out as expected. Those three teams are bunched up. Whoever goes on a run in September will win the division. Unfortunately the Brewers have yet to show the offensive and bullpen consistency that would enable them to make that run. Not saying that it can't happen, but they'd need to find something that hasn't been evident this season as of yet.
  7. If he was the tying run. Well if it's a ball in the hole wouldn't you want faster guy on than Pina? This is routine stuff that Counsell appears to be asleep on. The Madden and Francona never miss stuff like that. Hader wasn't double-switched, so he was due up after Grisham. Arcia was in the on-deck circle. I mean, Counsell has made his share of questionable moves this year, but he was pretty much stuck due to lack of bench options.
  8. Well, that was a gut punch. Lots of those types of games this year. There is literally no one in the pen that can be trusted with anything less than a 4 run lead ... besides arguably Albers.
  9. If that's the case ... that's horrible pitch selection. That is the one spot where Gonzalez's power is as a RH batter. I would love to know if the pitch selection comes from the dugout. I believe it does.
  10. I never said it was. Of course it wasn't where it was supposed to be. Low fastballs are literally the only thing Gonzalez hits well, and Hader put it in his bread basket. I just don't understand how so many pitchers on one staff suddenly lose their command. The weird part is go back and rewind to the HR. That pitch hit exactly where Pina put the glove. He maybe moved his glove down 2 inches to catch it, but essentially that is where he set the target. To say it missed by 5 feet is totally off. You don’t put the target somewhere you don’t want the pitch. If that's the case ... that's horrible pitch selection. That is the one spot where Gonzalez's power is as a RH batter.
  11. Was he supposed to hit a bases empty 2-run homer? Crap bunt but he was trying to get a runner on to bring the tying run to the plate. Not too hard to follow there. I liked it. A few of these other free swingers should take note.

  13. Other posters were mad because Pomeranz started the inning, and Hader wasnt in for the 6-out save. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
  14. This statement is so awful that I have to call it out. Hader is not hitting his spots, the difference here is Hader, not the league. nobody figured him out, he just lost his control. By saying this it is just clear you aren't actually watching the games because nothing about this is about players adjusting to Hader, it is 100% about his control. Gonzalez's HR was on a low-middle fastball with no movement. Gonzalez is a primo low fastball hitter. I mean, the dots are easy to connect.
  15. Counsell had a lucky horseshoe when it came to strategic pitching moves last year. Seems like things are coming back around on him this year.
