  1. I wonder if David Freitas can play any OF? I'm all for the "bunch 'o catchers" defensive alignment.
  2. Yep, command was crap. Left way too many meatballs over the plate. Groundhog Day with the pitching this year.
  3. I hear you but regression may be part of the reason. He just isn't that good. Unfortunate. Davies is never going to be a world-beater, but I think his track record is long enough to prove that he's a solid mid-rotation starter. He pitched very well in 2017, fought injury last year, then pitched very well for half a season this year. He's been consistent his whole career when he wasn't hurt. That type typically doesn't scream drastic regression to me. He hasn't been hitting his spots in his last several starts, and he doesn't have the stuff to counter that. He's typically pretty pinpoint accurate.
  4. Well, that wasn't an ideal beginning. Davies has gone from so good to so bad, and there's no discernible reason for it.
  5. So what? If Hamels is ready to come off the IL, he's ready.
  6. While techically true, we are 3-1 vs ARI, 5-4 vs CHI, 5-1 vs NYM, 4-3 vs PHI & 3-0 vs WAS, so we really haven't played losing baseball against everyone else. Why didn't you frame it by saying we are 10 games over .500 against everyone except the Padres & Angels? That is just as much of a fact. Bravo ... well done. This whole thread is akin to an old man yelling at a cloud.
  7. Dang it! Don't bring logic and common sense to a hyperbole battle! Unless Arcia isn't bad enough to go on the 10 day IL. It happens all the time. A guy goes down for a couple of days and doesn't warrent the IL. Then CC either plays with less pitching or goes with a tremendously weak SS. Two or 3 games with the most important infield position badly exposed could easily cause a loss or two. Logic and common sense would dictate a mgr. doesn't expose his team needlessly. Common sense would tell you that Shaw still isn't hitting and is a LH bat who is little more than a PH at this point. Thames and Moose are LH and better options. Logically he would be sent down and a RH hitter who played SS and other positions would be on the bench. What the heck does Shaw have to do with DHonks argument? His point was that if Arcia got hurt, they'd have to survive the rest of the game. Which is 100% correct. Everything else is just your hatred for Shaw and, well, this team it appears, that you are venting on.
  8. This game was a microcosm of the Brewers' season. Offense not taking care of opportunities, and a bullpen that is on razor wire.
  9. Dang it! Don't bring logic and common sense to a hyperbole battle!
  10. Yep ... if they are going to go on any sort of run, the hitters have to wake up. Offense has been poor for a full week now. Can't keep on depending on the pitching to keep the other team off the board.
  11. Sheesh I hope not. He's pitching really well today, and only at 81 pitches. No need to have to worry about pinch hitting for him. I'd throw him out there for another inning for sure. I mean, I'm sure they are itching to get Pomeranz out there, but he can wait till tomorrow.
  12. That was a terrific AB by Braun. Very patient, although it did look like he couldn't quite get around on a pitch or two that were right in his wheelhouse. Still, he stayed alive until Bailey hung one, and he got enough of it to squib a hit.
  13. I don't think there is anything wrong with bringing up a guy who is absolutely raking at AAA. Yes, I know that AAA is juiced this year and that Saladino has a long, poor track record. I also know that he is a human being, and not a statistical robot, so things can change. Since Perez had a horrible June, it made sense to both reward Saladino for his good work this year while also giving another guy some time at AAA to perhaps find his stroke. Of course, that doesn't mean that anything he does will translate to any MLB success, but it is/was worth a shot. Now Arcia has to start and play every inning of every game. If he gets hurt either Shaw or Moustakas has to play SS until they can get Saladino again from AAA. The defense would be hurt immeasurably. It's a bad situation to be in because they can't PH for Arcia if needed. I don't see why Stearns didn't option Shaw. He has no place to play and has done absolutely nothing since being recalled. Shaw has has 7 ABs. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if he went back down tomorrow.
  14. Those numbers are skewed big time by crazy splits he put up as a right handed hitter in 2017 (.946 OPS in 125 ABs). His .646 OPS in 2018 and .624 in 2019 as a RHB suck.
  15. That's the way I understood it as well. So in reality they have 7 days to release or outright him, as a trade is out of the question.
