  1. Then wait another 2 hours and 50 minutes before you complain.
  2. The Rays are in a 40-man roster crunch after the season, and are flush with pitching. That's why these two teams matching up on a deal made a ton of sense.
  3. You need to take a break. This isn't healthy.
  4. I don't get what is so "yucky" about this move? Here's what's yucky...now stop and think about this for a minute...IF this is all they do today..a team that is right in the thick of things for a playoff spot this year needs pitching...So, let's just assume Faria is with the MLB and goes into the rotation for the Brewers...they have filled their MAJOR pitching needs with...wait for it..Jordan Lyles and Jacob Faria?? Hang the NL Central banner now! I like how you assume that they are done by calling the trade "yuck" (how old are you anyway?) My guess is those phone lines are still hot.
  5. Faria brings a mid-90s fastball (running up to 97), a strong change-up, decent curve and developing slider. This is a fun out-of-nowhere get that profiles to help now (in the pen more than likely) and perhaps in the rotation in the future. Similar profile to Houser.
  6. Oh give it a rest on your drum-banging for a name guy. Sheesh
  7. This is pretty interesting. Faria turned 26 yesterday.
  8. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see the Brewers grab Aaron Sanchez today. Ace-type stuff, but has been stung by injuries. One more arby year too. He's got the stuff that they seem to covet, though.
  9. Having a guy like Leake available in 2020 theoretically stops them from going down the same troubled road they did by gifting rotation spots to Burnes and Peralta coming out of the gate.
  10. Why would Woodruff be in scenario A but not scenario B?
  11. So basically Dubon is Hernan Perez?
  12. Leake is a hole-filler, but that's about it. But if the Mariners eat a big chunk of that contract, you can certainly do a lot worse for a back-end starter.
  13. This is literally being discussed all over the transactions/rumors forum, and it is very obvious that saying "everyone is against trading" those guys is 100% hyperbole. There is quite a strong contingent that sees value in a rental sell-off. I personally would rather see them shoot for the playoffs this year, but I certainly see the value in dealing those guys off in the return is decent.
  14. He would be a huge get for the Brewers. I shudder when considering the acquisition cost, though.
  15. That is phenomenal. Who wouldn't love to have Amir Garrett on their team? He seems fun. I kinda get the feeling the Kela is going to serve his probable suspension as a member of the Brewers.
  16. Of course not ... because while he was there, the rotation was healthy. Things have changed pretty significantly since.
  17. Your value ratings show just how worthless much of that type of stuff is. Trammell is hitting a whopping .236 in AA. Regressed badly. To say his "value" is 1.33 times that of a proven MLB starter like Bauer is ludicrous. To say Reyes is 5 TIMES more valuable than Puig is insane. Reyes is a DH, period. No other value. Puig is a proven OF and MLB hitter. You are looking at the value system too simplistically. Trammell is a 21-year-old blue-chip prospect in AA with a ton of future control. Bauer has about 1 1/3 seasons of control left. Reyes also has a ton of control remaining, while Puig is a free agent after this year. This value system takes future control into account.
  18. He doesn't have to be officially activated until right before game time. I'm sure they will wait until the dust settles on the trade stuff before they decide who gets the boot.
  19. Bad loss, but it's one loss. Against one of the top teams in the AL. Its obvious that last night's result will have absolutely no bearing on whether they buy or sell today. That decision has already been made. I just don't want to see them stand pat. Either make some moves and go to the playoffs, or sell off your rental pieces and regroup for next year. Because if we've learned anything, this team as currently constructed is pretty middling. I keep waiting for them to get hot and go on a run, and it just hasn't happened ... mostly because the offense is so inconsistent. The hitters need to be better.
  20. Well, if the Brewers were looking for Grisham to make a statement on the eve of the trading deadline, in the event he is being shopped today, mission accomplished. I personally think he's staying put though.
  21. Me too! This is the first time in a long time that I have absolutely no idea where they are going to go. I could see anything from a major trade for an upper-end controllable starting pitcher, to several rental-type deals to go for it this year in a division that is imminently winnable, to even a small sell-off of rental types while looking toward next year. What I do know that flipping back and forth between buyer and seller based on the outcome of every game, as several posters seem to be doing around here, is likely not the answer. Making a move simply to make a move (the grass is always greener philosophy) is also not the answer. I think the Brewers have a plan, and they will stick to it. And bravo to them for not letting that plan get leaked out. It kind of gives that kid on Christmas morning vibe. Are we getting a shiny, new expensive Tonka truck (controllable starter), a few frisbees and lawn darts that will be great fun, but will then break or we'll get bored with (rentals), or a bunch of toys that we aren't quite old enough for, but will be fun in a few years (prospects). Our only present so far is an open pack of tube socks that we actually opened last Christmas, and Dad forgetfully rewrapped (Lyles).
  22. You don't need to be good enough to beat those teams on a consistent basis throughout the year. You have to be good enough to beat those teams for one 7 games stretch of games. The playoffs are a whole different animal. Get there, and anything can happen. No one is handing the Dodgers, Astros or Yankees a World Series trophy yet.
  23. Lyles officially gets the ball tomorrow. Hard to expect much, but it's baseball, and funny stuff happens. It isn't going to make a difference how he pitches, though, if the bats can't find something.
  24. Two runs ain't gonna do it most nights. Offense needs to step it up. It was crap in the Cubs series as well.
