  1. Nice to see a good inning out of Burnes. All the raw materials are there. The guy can be dominant. Really frustrating how inconsistent he's been.
  2. I'm starting to get the feeling that the only reason Jesus is still getting playing time is that he bats right handed. Thames needs a platoon mate. Having Hiura around made this lineup much more balanced.
  3. Our record is as good as it is because a lot of what you're saying here is overstated. I mean, i get it. When this team plays bad, they look really bad. For the most part the starting staff and the pen have been solid. It's just when there are blow-ups, they are bad, and it leaves an ugly picture in everyone's mind.
  4. I think Freddy just needs to go away for awhile. San Antonio, Biloxi ... I don't care. This "Good Freddy/Bad Freddy" crap has gotten almost infuriating to watch.
  5. Fry is a 23-year-old advanced college catcher. He should be dominating low A ball. He seems solid, but there is probably just as much of a shot he'll end up being a system guy as he will make an impact at the major league level. There is infinitely more upside with Feliciano and Henry.
  6. Or they just like how he matches up with a crappy Giants batting order when compared to the hot-hitting Astros in his second game of MLB action in 18 months. I think you may be reading a bit much into the situation.
  7. Why in the world would the Brewers make the unfathomably idiotic move of trading Davies? He's been their best pitcher, and is cost controlled for several more seasons. You don't ever give up solid cost-controlled pitching. EVER. I don't care you you think you have in your rotation has the potential to be better. Davies has been dang near the best starter in baseball this year. For a guy who keeps on harping that the Brewers need to bring up Wilkerson despite his below-average "stuff", it makes no sense to me that you want to deal off a guy with a very similar arsenal of pitches, but is actually doing it at the highest level. We trade him for 2 reasons: 1.) his value will never be higher and the prospects we could get for him helps this team more than keeping him. 2.) with Bauer Nelson Anderson Peralta Burnes Houser Wilkerson (potential FA signing) Rasmussen > that’s 9 deep, good coverage. Those reasons are nothingburgers. 1. Nope ... he fits the window of contention perfectly. Are you going to get an All-Star level starter for him. Maybe. Someday. Not worth it. Not for a team looking to contend for the World Series the next four years. 2. Davies is a better pitcher than all those guys right now. And he's young, so the potential that he continues to be better is high. He isn't doing this with smoke and mirrors. The guy is a very good major league pitcher. He's proving 2017 wasn't a fluke. Nelson is a huge question mark. Anderson has been average. Peralta and Burnes are not proven and could turn out to be anything. The only starter who is more arguably more valuable right now is Woodruff. I'll repeat it makes no sense for this team to trade its best starting pitcher while it is in contention. None. If you think it is, it's because you either don't like Davies as a pitcher, or don't think his success is sustainable. Plus, Trevor Bauer is a prick.

  9. And unfortunately they have the 22nd ranked OPS at 3rd base. I do see a way to rank very highly at both spots going forward though... Me too ... continue to give your upper echelon 3B (the last two years) playing time until he gets it going. Face it people, they aren't going to give up on getting Travis Shaw right for a long time. He's too talented, and his last two years have been too productive to simply give up on him. If Hiura comes back up, they'll find room for everyone, but it isn't going to be at the expense of continuing to try to get Shaw right.
  10. We got good Freddy. It was awesome. Hopefully it's a step toward putting his bipolar ways behind him. I did read the game story about him pitching with a quicker pace. Hopefully that was the needed fix. The quicker pace definitely seemed to keep the Marlins off balance. Freddy was hitting his spots well, too. Also dialing it up to 95-96 on the gun. When he's got his command going, he can be great.

  12. Have a game Freddy Peralta! The kid seems a little extra amped up today. If we could just see this Freddy more consistently, watch out!
  13. I was looking at his last 30 days.
  14. I just don't know. They had to know that there would be a lot of fans upset if they called him up, only to send him down in short order once Shaw came back. So then it would seem to me either that Super 2 wasn't an issue, or if it was, the team has some brass balls when it comes to fan reaction. It does make me wonder just how well Hiura's would have had to do for them to say "Screw it, he's staying." Was that ever an option, or was Hiura going back down inevitable regardless of how well he did? My point is Saladino would have been an easy call which the fanbase would have totally understood, while keeping Hiura's Super 2 status a non-factor. They didn't go that route, and it has somewhat opened a can of worms. Whether they care is the question I guess.
  15. Not at all. I never said I agreed totally with those moves. I'd love to see Hiura on this team and Jacob Barnes not on it. Just pointing out that every one of those questions can be answered using just a little bit of logic as to how this team operates.
  16. [is the reason Hiura is down because of super 2? And if So does that mean we’re not going to extend him? I counter this with a question. If Super 2 was a factor, why would they have added him to the 40-man and brought him up to begin with? Saladino and Spangenberg were already on the 40-man, and didn't have any service time questions. Either could have filled in for Shaw. Is cc and or Stearns the only people on earth that thinks we need a 13 man pitching staff that includes Barnes Williams? No ... many posters have brought that idea up, but it is pretty obvious that Counsell values the extra large bullpen depth. Barnes and Williams are part of that, whether we like it or not. Why is Peralta starting when we know it’s going to be a short start and heavy bullpen usage, and that’s if it’s a close game? Good question ... and I imagine its because he's still viewed as a huge part of the team's future. Why is Williams Barnes still on the 40 man? Because they are part of the depth, and in the front office's eyes, they don't have better options. We as fans may disagree, but they are the ones who make the decisions.
  17. Name the RH batter on the team who you think is better right now. It's more a statement of how bad the state of the team's RH batting is than a statement of how good Hiura is yet. I do believe he's going to be an elite bat but it's not a high bar to be the best RH in the Brewers organization right now. All the more reason why he should be in Milwaukee. Ryan Braun. Agreed ... Braun has been solid all year, and has been mashing lately. That's why he's in the #3 hole today.
