  1. I have no problem with this kind of post as long as you own it if and when Shaw admits he wasn't in the best of shape this year. Unfortunately, nobody ever does own it, even though my suspicions in these things usually prove correct. Just look at this thread as an example, unless you're going to argue that Brogdon literally saying he wants to lose weight doesn't support my mid season assertion that he should lose weight, an assertion that was derided in much the same fashion you are doing with Shaw. Personally I think it is silly to completely dismiss the possibility, but carry on. If you think I personally don't own it when I'm wrong on something, you aren't paying attention.
  2. Well I think it's weird that people can't see it, and that they argue about it and take exception to my observations. Brogdon and especially Khris both need to trim down a little. Toronto's small ball lineups ran circles around the Bucks, and nobody will ever convince me that's not part of the reason why. Given Brogdon the starting SF job if Khris walks and he's fine, but losing 10 pounds will make a big difference in his defense as a guard. Wait a second, now Khris Middleton is overweight? https://cdn-s3.si.com/s3fs-public/2018/09/09/malcolm_brogdon_bucks_embed_.jpg That's Brogdon during the season. This is Khris Middleton; https://sixerswire.files.wordpress.com/2018/07/khrismiddleton.jpg?w=1000&h=583 I'm not sure what you're looking at if you think Middleton "especially" has to trim down. Brogdon could try to get leaner. As I said, he's pretty thick. Not fat at all, but he's thick. He could try lifting less just try dropping a few pounds. But Middleton is skinny. That one is just strange to me. I know this is the Bucks thread, but apparently Travis Shaw is following the Jesus Aguilar diet.
  3. Tonight's lineup: LF Gamel RF Yelich CF Cain 3B Moustakas C Grandal 2B Hiura 1B Thames SS Arcia P Anderson Pretty interesting that they dropped Cain from the leadoff spot. Even more interesting that it's to the #3 spot.
  4. Usually, but I bet the Giants FO think they really have to show something for this trade to the "regular" fan. I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants pay most of the MadBum contract or package him with some other prospect(s) to get that much better a prospect(s) back. This trade will be under the microscope, so they will probably want somebody close to major league ready. Perhaps. The Tigers traded Verlander to the Astros for three very young, far off prospects in 2017 . Granted all three were considered very good prospects, but they were very young. Franklin Perez was the crown jewel of that deal, and after scuffling pretty much all of last year, he is pitching well at the A+ level as a 21-year-old. Daz Cameron is off to a middling start in AAA this year as a 22 year old. Jake Rogers was the oldest of the three at 22 when dealt, and he started this season at AA as a 24 year old, and was moved up to AAA pretty quickly. He's playing well. But Verlander, who had just as much of a history as MadBum, and had 2 1/2 seasons of control to boot, was traded for three prospects who, while exciting, were so far away from being major leaguers that it is 1 1/2 seasons later and none have had any ML time yet. Every team is going to want to trade their players for ML-ready studs, but those type of prospects are rarely dealt. Most of the time it is high upside these teams are getting back. The Brewers don't have a ton of prospects that are close to ML ready, but they do have a fair number of high upside guys that the lower levels that could theoretically be used as trade currency.
  5. I did watch it. The Dodgers are playing great right now. They won't all year. Because that's how baseball works. Literally no one is against the Brewers making moves to improve the team. What many are against is this "shoot from the hip" philosophy that we need to freak out with every loss, and throw money at a problem that may not even exist. This team has more than 100 games remaining on its regular season schedule. They are going to have highs and lows. They are playing like a playoff team right now, despite several hiccups in both the lineup and the pitching staff. So yeah, you really, really need to relax. Because working yourself up into a lather because the Brewers are not making moves at the pace you want them to, then posting about it every chance you get, is not only going to annoy the heck out of this board, its going to make watching the Brewers, and baseball in general, not a very enriching experience for you.
  6. He has 27 innings in his professional career. I'm sure they want to see more before moving those projections up. There's been plenty of young guns who have shot up quickly then flamed out. Considering he went from unranked all the way to #15, I would say they like his status as a prospect.
  7. Why do all posts concerning the Packers always bring out the football "experts" (huge emphasis on the quotation marks there) who absolutely know that their viewpoint is right, and will go to the grave defending it, while taking pot shots at those who disagree? TJseven7, unless you are a professional scout, your opinion counts about as much as HiAndTight's or anyone else's. Stop all this troll crap and just respect each other's opinion, and move on. Trust me, I've been down this road. Nobody "wins", and you just end up feeling like a douche.
  8. Take a look at the hauls teams have typically gotten back for rentals the last few years. Other than the stupid deal the Cubs did for Chapman, the returns haven't been astronomical. There is no doubt in my mind at least that if the Brewers feel they need to make an upgrade, they have the currency to get it done without dealing guys like Burnes and Hiura.
  9. I think it’s more how ridiculously good the dodgers are at hitting good pitching. This team could go down as top 5 all time if they win it all. Brewers better get a whole lot better before October. The Dodgers have a good team. We get it. Move on.
  10. They didn't need to create the empathy. Boston fans treated the poor guy like dirt for years. I can't think of a baseball fan outside Boston who didn't feel for that guy after what he went through.
  11. Maybe ... maybe not. The only ones who truly know that work in the Nationals front office and scouting department. I think we can confidently say they would not. If I said we could offer Hernan Perez for Mike Trout would you say we don't truly know how the Angels front office would feel about that? Nobody knows but we can certainly make educated guesses and a pretty easy educated guess is that the Nats would say no to our second tier of prospects for Rendon. I suppose that depends on how the Nats value prospects like Aaron Ashby or Payton Henry. The upside in this system is certainly skewing younger now than it has in previous years. It certainly doesn't help that several of the front-line prospects like Ray, Brown and Erceg are having mediocre to poor seasons so far. Being that he's a rental, the value the Nats will be able to recoup on Rendon would be limited. I imagine it would fall somewhere in excess of what the Brewers gave up for Moustakas, but likely not by a whole heck of a lot.
  12. Maybe ... maybe not. The only ones who truly know that work in the Nationals front office and scouting department.
  13. I don't think anyone would expect them to do otherwise. He's got time left on his rehab assignment, and options left if he isn't hitting at the end of it. They have time to let Hiura continue to figure out things at the ML level, while allowing Shaw time to figure things out in a less pressure-packed situation. It makes all the sense in the world to let things play out for awhile. I think/hope the poster that speculated that Shaw was pulled from the game was simply joking.
  14. It would for us because I personally don't believe we have a second tier to choose from that would be at all enticing for the Nationals. Fixed ... unless you work in the Nats front office, then by all means, go with the original.
  15. Perhaps not this very minute, but if Shaw finds his stroke, I 100% expect him to see regular playing time and take ABs away from Hiura. Why do so many assume that Shaw is either done or non-redeemable? He isn't old, and has been very good the last couple years.
  16. Man I dislike him. I dislike him as much as I can possibly dislike a guy who didn't actually do anything wrong OTHER than going from a 12 pct 3 point shooter to hitting 10 of 12 in the last two games to end the Bucks season. Although if you listen to Skippy Bayless, the reason the Bucks season ended was because Giannis doesn't have that "killer mentality." And that's because they learn to play a different style in Europe. Your first mistake was listening to anything Skip Bayless says.
  17. But can what Perez provides right now match or exceed Hiura's production for those three weeks? I think the answer is probably yes... Is it really worth it to piss off your top prospect by doing something like that? He's not stupid, he will understand that the Brewers FO would be doing that simply to rob him of future $$$. Pointless when the team is good RIGHT NOW, in my opinion. Rob schmob ... the Brewers are operating within the system the players union agreed to. Hiura is young, but he knows its a business and that's just the way things work. I'm sure he's happy to be up and getting consistent playing time at the ML level, rather than watching Saladino or Spangenberg get those reps, which many expected.
  18. It's been pretty well noted that the fact that the Brewers are on MadBum's no-trade list has nothing to do with not wanting to play for the Brewers. Every team on his list is a playoff contender. It was a leverage move on his part to give him some control over which contender he goes to.
  19. Why on earth would you smile about that!? Shaw getting called up right now would be an absolutely AWFUL decision. He's not even batting .100 in the minors right now and Huira is displaying some rock solid power at the plate. It would kill our offense. Maybe they are bring Shaw up to play 1B ... could he really be worse than what Aguilar is showing us? I know it doesn't make sense lefty-righty-wise, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is where Shaw ends up eventually this year.
  20. Or the guys who have a capability of hitting have to hit. But how long is that leash with Shaw and Aguilar? Cain needs to get it going too. With Shaw? As long as it needs to be. Aguilar? It's getting tighter. Cain doesn't have a leash. He's free range. He'll be fine.
  21. Why? There is absolutely no need to do that. None. Miller is already a band box. Why make it a little league field?
  22. Jesus would have destroyed a lefty like him last year. People forget that Jesus was very good as a part-time player in 2017 as well, so last year wasn't necessarily a fluke. He is completely lost right now, though. I imagine the leash is getting tighter.
