  1. I'm all about not looking too closely and small sample sizes, but at some point this is going to negatively effect his development. I mean, he's looked fine when not giving up long balls, but unfortunately those long balls count. I know he's facing some pretty tough lineups, but that really only goes so far. Every pitcher is going to give up HRs, but you gotta keep the ball in the park for the most part to have success.
  2. Holy crap! Moose just bunted to beat the shift! Baseball purists rejoice! I mean, he was a dead duck with a good throw, but still ...
  3. Ah yes, Braden Looper. He won 14 games that year, but they were so empty he was never heard from again.
  4. Didn't Matt Kinney or Wayne Franklin have a year in the early 2000s where they both gave up a ton of bombs?
  5. Nah, if this keeps up, he isn't going to get the chance. They aren't going to leave him in the rotation to continue getting shellacked.
  6. I'd deal #30 for #49, a 4th and a 1st in 2020, depending o what they do at #12. There will be starting-caliber safeties, ILBs and offensive linemen there at #49. I also think that while there's a chance that Cleveland could be very good, there's also a strong possibility with a new coach and inexperienced QB that things crash and burn.
  7. If you are hanging this much on every pitch over a 162-game schedule, that's not healthy. It's baseball. Even the best teams are likely going to lose more than 60 times. Yeah, it sucks when one of our lesser pen arms doesn't perform, but I can't say it makes me feel any different than normal. Playoff baseball is a whole different thing, but I'm not going to stress about about bullpen issues in April two weeks into the season.
  8. To be determined ... That might seem like a cop-out answer, but it's really the only logical answer right now. We are 13 games into the season. Yeah, it can be perceived that the pitching is going to need help, but a 13 game sample is simply much too small to make that determination with 100% validity. This staff will likely see the return of Jeffress soon, and hopefully Nelson in a few weeks. There are several arms at the AAA level that look to be possible pen reinforcements. The well is far from dry. But as this team has shown in the past, they aren't afraid to make moves when they deem them appropriate. The "they" part of that is the key point there, as it really doesn't matter what we as fans think they should do and when they should be doing it. If Stearns and company see a need, and have a logical answer, they determine that timeline. We're just along for the ride.
  9. Perhaps it wasn't 100% injury related, but Ben Grieve comes to mind. He looked like a possible transcendent star early on, but his power almost completely disappeared after he turned 24. Rocco Baldelli is another that comes to mind who was an elite prospect that showed immense promise early in his major league career, but ended up being derailed by injury.
  10. I finally got rid of DISH Network about a month ago, after their latest price increase got us up to $130/month for a basic package (no premium channels). We live in the sticks, so our "cable" options were basically limited to DISH or DirecTV. My biggest hang-up on cancelling was not having access to Packers and Brewers games. After researching the heck out of things (this thread helped immensely), I decided to go the old-school digital antenna route, and bought the mid-range RCA Mini Yagi model for about $50. The box has the color coded wheel (it looks like an old Trivia Pursuit game piece with the little colored triangles.) The color coded wheel matches the color codes from the antennaweb page. With just the antenna alone, I was able to pull in NBC (17 miles away) and ABC (repeater 8 miles away), but couldn't pull in CBS/Fox (low-powered repeater about 22 miles away). I bought a $22 RCA pre amp from Menards to mount to the antenna pole. The finally piece of the puzzle for me was a distribution amplifier, (channel master cm3414 4-port, $30 on amazon) so we had sufficient signal to power our four television sets. So overall we now have a good signal, and spent about $100. We now have 12 channels total from NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, WB and PBS. We did have a few kinks to work out, as some of our coax cable from our previous DISH setup were on splitters. Once we removed the splitters our signal came in nicely. It took me about a week of trial and error, and research to figure it all out. For cable/access to Brewer games, I bought Roku Express players ($25 each deal on Groupon). We went with the Sling TV Blue package, and I paid the extra to get Fox Sports Wisconsin. Also previously had Netflix and Amazon Prime, as those are our kids' go-to for more programming. Also downloaded a few extra free apps on the Roku system (PlutoTV, Crackle, Roku Channel, Tubi), and our options are now way, way more than we ever had with just DISH and Netflix). So far the only complaint I have (and its very minor) is that the Sling streaming feed is about 30-45 seconds behind on live stuff. Over all I'm glad we went through the process. Yeah, the hardware was a little but of upfront cost, but we'll be saving about $100/month by not having cable. Internet may eventually be an issue, as we only have a 6 MBPS DSL internet connection speed from Frontier. It's been fine so far, as it's only lagged or kicked us off an app a couple times. We may have to upgrade to the 12 MBPS package at some point.
  11. Bam $ 50,000,000 not included in any of these figures. If Attanasio wanted to pay 80% of maryvale upfront he could have with bam money. What is this $50 million you speak of?
  12. Hundley definitely has talent. His issue, I think, is that he just didn't seem to improve any over the years. He did do some good things in 2017, and if given more to work with, I think he could be functional as a game manager-type starter.
  13. There is nothing "fact" about that. That is 100% pure speculation.
  14. Probably about what to expect generally with drafting. QB is hard to do, especially later on. It's much easier to find a serviceable 5th round OG than a QB. That was one of the biggest differences between Thompson's and Wolf's tenures, though. Wolf regularly went back to the late-round QB well, even though the team regularly had depth there, and obviously with an iron man at QB1, it wasn't needed. Obviously some of those guys were misses (remember Kyle Wachholz LOL), but he was in turn able to deal many of those guys off for good value a few years later. Thompson didn't follow that philosophy at all, and that was disappointing.
  15. The packers have drafted only two QBs since doubling up on Matt Flynn and Brian Brohm in 2008: Brett Hundley and B.J. Coleman. That is pretty dang poor.
  16. The fact that there have been multiple stories now propping up Tim Boyle as the predicted backup and Rodgers heir apparent is ... scary. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see them spend a high-ish pick on a QB. Or even deal for one. If the Cardinals would take a #3 and #5 for Rosen, I'd seriously think about that.
  17. Again, you're just making up numbers. Where is your 20 million number for tax and interest coming from? I can do similar math: 66 operating income, subtract 60 million for tax and interest, = $6million, likely what they have available to add at the deadline. Which of us is wrong? He's making up numbers in an attempt to justify his stance that the Brewers should be paying for Kimbrel and Keuchel. Because the fact that the team hasn't signed them is apparently a personal insult?
  18. Well, two runs isn't going to get it done most any night, regardless of the team's pitching. Offense has to be better.
  19. I think that type of start should be coined "The Suter". He was always good for giving up 2-3 runs in the 1st or 2nd, then you see him get through 5-6 innings and still be at 2-3 runs.
