  1. Watched that game from first pitch to last, and I'm so glad I did. With all the heroics, pretty easy to forget that despite giving up the long balls, Burnes struck out 12 Cardinals in 5 innings. Maybe not a great outing overall, but certainly something to build on.
  2. Hicks's fastball is super fast obviously, but it is straight as an arrow, and he has no deception in his delivery. If he doesn't develop a better off-speed pitch, he won't last.
  3. This team has two legit superstars in Yelich and Hader. Surround them with solid play, and they are a World Series contender. Right now, without any additions.
  4. The Cardinals leaving the lefty in to face Perez tells you everything you need to know about how they respect Perez.
  5. Exactly. Upper 90s heat, but straight as an arrow. You can get away with that in the minors, but ML hitters can pound a straight fastball no matter how fast its coming.
  6. He has looked lost for an awful long time now... Shaw to 1B, Hiura to 2B, and Moose back to 3B sounds good to me. (when Hiura finally gets the call) I've long advocated for Hiura to stay down for seasoning, but you can't have a World Series contender with a black hole at 1B. I wonder how long of leash they'll have for Aguilar and Thames?
  7. Certainly hasn't been promising so far. And short of moving Braun there again, there is really nothing waiting in the wings.
  8. Aguilar was the perfect candidate for selling high. I think he just has a first half to remember that he'll never come close to duplicating. Maybe his second half lowered his trade value, or maybe not, but it looks to me like the right side of the infield is a liability. There's just not much of a market out there for power hitting corner IFs/OFs. Its become not too difficult to find a guy you can stick at 1B who can provide 30 HRs if given 600 plate appearances.
  9. What we saw was a young, inconsistent starter. Very similar to what Peralta showed last year. And people are pretty much all over the map on Peralta. But you're right ... we're going to have to live through these guys' growing pains. They'll be better if the team sticks with them.
  10. I agree with this, but then I've always felt that a team should have its top arms in the rotation. The Brewers pulled a 180 from what they did last year. Last year's rotation had a bunch of safe, league average pitchers. This year's rotation definitely has a higher ceiling, but also a lower floor. That has played out to a T so far.
  11. Must be why they leave the ballpark so fast. Well if you spin 'em clockwise they go further. Gotta spin 'em counter-clockwise.
  12. It's his first start. Give me a break. Peralta should immediately be released if that is your standard. What are you even talking about? He said it would be a shame if the offense was going to waste his outing when he was repping a 4.50 ERA pace at the time. Are we really going to blame the offense for wasting a guys performance because they didn’t score 5+ runs to make his strikeouts look cool? Usually to waste a pitchers stellar outting said pitcher needs to give up a run or zero...or give up two and go 8+ innings. Not go 5 innings of 2 run ball. Though as we can see he couldn’t even manage that. I said that when Burnes had given up 2 runs, and was putting up high K numbers. Yeah, he was having a nice outing. The big improvements they made to the team this offseason was to the offense. So yeah, you're damn right I'm going to expect them to score runs. They aren't gonna win many games with solo Yelich HRs as the only tally.
  13. But when do you give guys like our trio a chance at being a starting pitcher? It’s not like they aren’t talented enough to be starters. I just don’t think you can keep them relieving for multiple seasons. In theory, they made the offensive upgrades to be able to roll with the punches to the pitching staff and still stay in games. Of course, that's only on paper. These guys still need to hit (other than HRs) consistently.
  14. Yeah, that's what I'm seeing as well. I guess it is typical of a young pitcher, though. Gonna be growing pains with these guys. Still, it's only 4-1. With the Brewers' offensive firepower, they aren't out of it.
  15. Yeah, this is going south quick. The Ks are fun, but good major league hitters are going to hammer 95 MPH fastballs right down the middle.
  16. Huh? Manufacturing runs was this team's Achilles Heel last year, and it's been more of the same this year. And yeah, they brought in Grandal and Moose to help that. Still early, but a lot of the same so far.
