  1. There is always room in the rotation for a guy who can do what Miley did tonight. Peralta can start wherever the team's AAA team ends up playing. Can never have enough quality starters.
  2. If you had used that word to refer to Miley back in March I would have assumed we were about 50-90. Derek Johnson deserves a raise. A big one.
  3. Wade Miley has a convert in me. That was one heck of an outing tonight. Hopefully the pen can get him the win.
  4. Rizzo hits a routine fly to center ... but you'd think he just hit a 500-foot bomb LOL
  5. His performance this season has been the biggest surprise of the year in my opinion. Would have been nice to see what he could have done had he not gotten hurt.
  6. Miley with 76 pitches through 5 innings. Does he have two more in him?
  7. Official lineup: Cain CF Yelich RF Aguilar 1B Braun LF Perez 2B Shaw 3B Kratz C Arcia SS Miley P It's a little disappointing that Schoop, who was acquired in part for his prowess hitting lefties, is not in the lineup.
  8. I don't see much of anything on that list that has more upside that what we have in house. That's why I think they'll go into the offseason with a "Go Big or Go Home" mentality. If a TOR ace-type becomes available, expect the Brewers to be in the thick of the bidding for him. Otherwise, other than a Miley-like reclamation project or two, I doubt you see any pitchers of significance signed. They already have a bunch of #3-4 types.
  9. Tommy John surgery in July. Likely out until 2020
  10. Peppers was very productive for them, but yes, was cut after 4 and came to GB. They must really believe in Trubisky. I wouldn't be totally shocked if the Bears challenge. The Packers rarely seem to stomp the Bears anyway. I remember a lot of close games with Rodgers at the helm. This should be a strong division. All four teams could be solid. Personally, though, I think the Packers are in the best position to be among the elite. The Vikings are due to regress defensively, and I'm not sold on Cousins being a top-flight QB. The Lions have good talent, but are seemingly always running in place. The Bears are a wild card.
  11. Don't sleep on them resigning Wade Miley either. Of course, he could very well be possibly pitching himself into a solid multi-year deal. If that's the case, i'd be leery.
  12. Wouldn't surprise me to see Peralta, Houser and Wilkerson up today as well as Williams. No harm in loading up the pen. Houser's power arm can go multiple innings as well. We saw how valuable that is a couple days ago with Woodruff.
  13. Peralta, Williams, Houser and Wilkerson could all come up today. Doesn't hurt to be deep in the pen. I say bring 'em all up. If they go for awhile without pitching, oh well. They still get to be a part of a pennant race.
  14. Only went 5, but could have probably gone more... I'm fine with pulling him, but why not put him out there for the 6th until he allows a baserunner? Too early to pinch hit him imo when he was cruising along just fine. He was only at 84 pitches, but in a high leverage situation in his first game back, I was OK with it. He could have maybe gone one more inning, but with a runner on and the offense not doing much, you almost gotta try to capitalize when you can. Granted, a Davies sacrifice bunt would have been more valuable there, but you send a powerful pinch batter up there hoping he can park one.
  15. and that is my point... Differing opinions is kinda what makes the world go round. What you see as the big picture is not always the same as what others see as the big picture. It is kind of condescending to suggest that your big picture is more accurate than other's big picture. By the way, I agree with you on Davies. If he pitches like he did last year, we just got better. I have no ill will against the guy. I just find it odd that so many judge other's viewpoints as incorrect because they don't line up with their own. I guess it was more of an argument against those who were vehemently against Davies coming back up, or argued that his solid minor league outings didn't mean anything because they were minor league outings. Davies is coming back with a fresh arm and likely a chip on his shoulder. I don't view respectful arguments as condescending.
  16. I sure hope so. Tons of talent there. I think he just needs to get out of his own head. I've hated his approach all season.
  17. Last year wasn't all smoke and mirrors. The guy, when right, is a very good starting pitcher. It's been disappointing seeing the number of fans who are writing him off or just want him gone. Why do opinions of other fans bother you so much? Everyone has different views and opinions. I notice people always complaining about other's views on players, managers, etc. Who cares what others think? The refusal to see the big picture is what is troubling. Like, fans are making their opinion based on a few early-season starts. Plus, it's a baseball message board. Differing opinions is kinda what makes the world go round.
  18. Same old Domingo ... swing hard in case you hit it. That's why he spent so long at AAA. Some improvement, but still huge K numbers.
  19. Last year wasn't all smoke and mirrors. The guy, when right, is a very good starting pitcher. It's been disappointing seeing the number of fans who are writing him off or just want him gone.
  20. This is good news. Thompson has the type of arm that you want to keep in the organization. If they can get his command under control, he could be a solid pen asset next year.
  21. Frustrating to watch. Hamels struggles and the Cubs put him in their rotation. Gio struggles and we seem to not be interested in pitching him. They seem to have a plan for everyone, and I'm sure that includes Gio too. Could be taking a look at his mechanics to see if there is anything that needs tweaking that may lead to better results before throwing him out there.
