  1. He has completely surprised me this year, to the point where he's legitimately putting himself in the conversation for the potential Wild Card game start. If Derek Johnson can work this sort of magic with Wade Miley, I'd love to see what he could do with a guy like Sonny Gray or Jordan Zimmermann.
  2. Probably over Peralta and Anderson as well. I've been waiting for Miley to turn back into a a pumpkin. Hopefully that doesn't happen.
  3. He's stretched out, and the Reds' pen is gassed. If he goes out early, it's going to be because the Brewers' offense knocks him around.
  4. Perhaps a few guys who may have been end-of-bench guys may stay down, but I would imagine the MLB playoff race trumps any sort of minor league postseason.
  5. This is completely made-up fan fiction, but I like this deal. I could handle Zimmermann at $24 million through 2020. http://zestynews.com/post/1721701/detroit-tigers-trade-of-the-day-jordan-zimmermann-to-the-brewers?utm_source=zesty_tigers&utm_medium=Zesty-Twitter
  6. There's always hope: 8/30/82 The #Astros trade Don Sutton to the #Brewers for players to be named later and cash. Milwaukee later sent Kevin Bass, Frank DiPino, and Mike Madden to Houston to complete the trade. Sutton goes 4-1 in 7 starts for the Brewers down the stretch
  7. Davies taking the ball Monday against the Cubs, per Roziak: Gutsy move, but at least we'll have pen reinforcements available. Davies has been very good career-wise vs. the Cubs. That leaves Guerra lined up to face the Nationals on Sunday. I can't imagine that his hold on that spot is safe, though. In the back of my mind, I think the pitcher making that start for the team may not be in the organization right now. Or it will be Adrian Houser.
  8. Peralta and Williams optioned down for Barnes and Aaron Brooks. I imagine both Peralta and Williams will be back up after the requisite 10 days.
  9. Aaron Brooks and Jacob Barnes up, per McCalvy. Taylor Williams and Freddy Peralta to AAA. Needed to make room on the 40-man for Brooks. He's been pitching very well in AAA, though, so this call-up was warranted. Edit: Ariel Hernandez DFA'd. He's got a great, great arm, but no command. Maybe they can sneak him through waivers and keep him in the org. Would like to hang onto that arm.
  10. That's what I'm saying. The only way to truly protect him would be to put him on the 40-man. Otherwise he's free to go wherever he wants. And he seems like a guy who may want a change of scenery. Considering the lack of decent corner OF/1B power prospects in the system, it would be great to find a way to keep him around. It sure is nice to see him finally hitting better.
  11. Brewers Official Lineup: Cain CF Yelich RF Aguilar 1B Braun LF Schoop 2B Moustakas 3B Perez SS Kratz C Miley P The lefty-killer lineup. I like it!
  12. The Brewers have done a nice job clearing out some of the guys who will need protecting in the Rule 5, but it may still be tough to find a 40-man spot for Coulter. I imagine they will need to fit some if not all of Derby, Torres-Costa, Gatewood, McDowell, Ponce, Stokes, Supak, Harber, Kirby and Devin Williams onto the roster.
  13. Nottingham is 23. Bethancourt will be 27 on Sunday. I like both of them, though. I know you have a thing against Nottingham since he was traded for Davis, but the guy is a good prospect.
  14. I'm predicting Tristan Lutz to break out in a huge way. He'll be a top 20 MLB prospect by this time next year. There's some Michael Trout in him. I also like Ashby and Bowden Francis. It will also be fun to watch Drew Rasmussen's recovery to see what he can do next year, if anything.
  15. They could also place Dubon on the MLB roster, then immediately on the 60-day DL to free up a spot. I know service time and all, but those spots are starting to get hard to come by. I agree that Orf is probably on very, very thin ice.
  16. Correct, and Knebel hasn't been down 10 days so he's not eligible to return just yet. Williams figures to be swapped out again. They'll have Lyles, Jennings, Barnes, Soria, Albers and Burnes all able to go one inning today if needed. Guerra is an easy call to go down. My guess is you see Williams and Guerra swapped out for Barnes and Jake Thompson this morning.
  17. Woodruff and Hernandez each pitched two innings today, so they probably can't go tomorrow. That leaves Wilkerson, Thompson, Barnes (pitched an inning today), and Houser (pitched 7 innings in a start over the weekend). Knebel, I guess, if they DL someone. Options are not great. I wonder if Guerra can come back and pitch? He certainly didn't get stretched out much yesterday LOL.
  18. My guess is Guerra gets sent down. Woodruff only pitched two innings tonight, and that could have been with a MLB pen role in mind. Jake Thompson has looked pretty good too.
  19. Likewise. I was just having trouble deciphering what you were getting at with your Hader stuff. If may seem like he goes 10 days between appearances, but that really isn't the case at all.
  20. Free him? Has he even left Milwaukee yet? Well we are in Cincinnati lol I would venture to guess Knebel did not make the trip to Cincy. When he was optioned, they were in Milwaukee. Also, don't patronize. I know where they are.
