  1. Here are the rest of the guys on the 40-man who are healthy but aren't up with the MLB club yet: Marcos Diplan Adrian Houser Freddy Peralta Aaron Wilkerson Taylor Williams Of those, I expect Houser to be called up when Springs' season ends, if not before, and Peralta and Williams back as soon as their 10-day option limit is complete. Wilkerson could come up I guess, too, as a mop-up guys, although they seem to have a lot of those now. Diplan is the only one who doesn't stand a chance of being called up this year. He's at least a year away from any meaningful MLB contribution.
  2. A 25-year old who went 17-9 with a 3.9 ERA last year, and is controllable through 2022? Where do I sign up? If the 2017 version of Zach Davies is here for the month of September, that is a huge pickup. That is also a big if, though.
  3. You can't underestimate how many Wisconsinites are Cub fans, too. There are a lot. Miller Park tickets are easier to score than Wrigley tickets as well.
  4. They just signed ex-Cowboy Darius Jackson. He'll be RB3 until Jones returns.
  5. I'm still bothered that the Brewers for some reason stopped starting him. He would have had more value in a trade as a solid starter.
  6. Gio isn't any better. He may even be worse. I would be pretty confident betting that Gonzales would be better than this.
  7. This seems to fall under the idea that it’d just be better if he was a starter. Yep. If "that's how it's always going to be", I'd rather have him pitching 6-7+ innings every five days. He's a high effort guy, so maybe pitching 3 innings or to one batter has a similar effect on his body.
  8. Well, that answers that I suppose. Guess we're just gonna have to find another Hader somewhere so we always have one available.
  9. CC had two occasions in the 8th where Hader could have come in to face one lh hitter to get out of the inning with the lead. If the guidelines are that restrictive on a key reliever who had a day of rest with games on the line in september, time to send him back to the rotation. Spot on. If Hader can't be used in situations like this, I want him in the rotation. He'd provide much more value that way.
  10. Personally, I think Hader probably takes a little longer to get warmed up than most other relievers, which could explain him not coming in a bit. You put Soria in with the confidence he can get out of the 8th with a lead. But ... I would have gotten Hader warming as soon as Soria slipped off that mound and started getting wild.
  11. Is this what the sarcasm font was intended for? Jerky, off the cuff frustration? Putting this silliness in blue doesn’t hide the snark. He has a point. There are lots of games left, it really wasn't a "must win" in the whole scheme of things, and Soria crapped the bed. That shouldn't have been in blue. It is all correct.
  12. What is your point? Jennings is better than Hader now? You would have left Soria in who was missing the strike zone by a foot? The leverage index was 7.79, that is about a high as possible, the correct move in that situation is to go with your best guy. CC did not do that, which was his only job. Understand the situation, make the move that gives you the best chance to win. Yep, you play the matchup right there. Put your best lefty reliever in against their lefty hitter. If Hader gets beat, he gets beat. But at least you threw your best at them.
  13. Crappy one tonight. They didn't show up after the rain delay. Every loss is compounded now. Soria has to perform. He didn't, and it led to stupid managerial decisions. Domino effect.
  14. Dan Jennings should never pitch with runners on. Who Hader wasn't in this game I have no idea.
  15. Who you gonna pull off the 40-man for him? Apparently Lyles and Albers are not options. Wilkerson I guess?
