  1. This is a strawman argument. I've come around to the idea that if Santana had any value, he would have been dealt by now. The fact that he is still kicking around the Brewers system (unceremoniously) tells me that the rest of MLB sees his numbers last year as an aberration.
  2. I hadn't realized that Arcia has been horrible (well more horrible) against lefties this year. That is likely the reason.
  3. There been a few hiccups, but his approach at the plate has improved. He's taking more pitches and not swinging nearly as wildly as he was pre-demotion. The guy is a skilled offensive player ... he just needs to get out of his own way at times.
  4. Well, it's an important role. As long as people keep bringing up CS stats, it needs to be pointed out. I mean Santana has Bandy-type numbers in CS. Really doesn't matter, he'll be up in September (or sooner if there's an injury) regardless of his CS stats. I had hoped/expected Santana to rip the cover off the ball in Colorado, and while he's been OK, he certainly hasn't done anything to indicate that the 2017 version of Santana is back.
  5. Really like that they dropped Schoop. Very surprised that the hot-hitting Arcia and Moose are getting the day off, though. I figured Counsell would find a way to get Perez in there vs. a lefty though.
  6. Highly doubt that Thames starts against a lefty. I think we'll see something like this: Cain CF Yelich RF Aguilar 1B Moustakas 3B Braun LF Schoop 2B Arcia SS Pina C Guerra P Might even see Perez get a start at 3B today for Moose. Perez hits lefties well.
  7. Amazing, the Cubs can give up a lot of runs to bad teams too. Imagine that. Baez went 0-3. I'm sure there were many on the Cubs board calling for a DFA.
  8. Good win tonight ... great opportunity to take the series tomorrow. Blow-out loss from the Cubs tonight get the Brewers back to 1 1/2 games behind.
  9. Pitching back to back nights too. Watching the Brewers, I didn't think that was possible.
  10. Nice job working out of that by Chacin. Lets score a few more, and hand this to the pen. Hopefully they are better tonight. I give the Padres credit. They are plucky.
  11. That's a play that Yelich has to make. A good LF makes that catch.
  12. They might give him a couple days, but he'll play regularly. They didn't trade for him to be a reserve. And he'll hit.
  13. Happy to say the beginning of this post is not aging well. The last part looks to be more accurate
  14. Yelich Cain Moustakas Aguilar Shaw Thames Kratz Arcia Chacin Schoop gets the night off, along with Braun. Still a solid lineup in my opinion. Especially if Arcia continues to hit.
  15. It could be argued that he's an MLB-ready relief prospect. While he doesn't have the upside that you'd typically look for in a Rule 5 selection, I could see a team grabbing him to fill out the back of their pen. Heck, when a guy like Oliver Drake gets a chance with 5 different teams in one season to fill a similar role, that tells me there is a need out there.
  16. It's also really not hard to believe that "something" is cheeseburgers. Thanks ... now I'm the crazy guy laughing in a quiet office around 20 other people.
  17. Only a few years ago, prospects the caliber of Jon Perrin made regular appearances in the Brewers' starting rotation (Ben Hendrickson, anyone?). The fact that the system is so deep that they determined that there was no way they would be able to protect him come Rule 5 time speaks volumes. This is a solid move to grab a younger guy with some upside in Biasi.
  18. Agree 100% with all of this. Schoop's profile as a hitter made him an odd choice as a trade target from the get-go, basically because the team's line-up is already stacked with several low OBP types. But what's done is done, and if this team is going to make a run for the playoffs, it is in their best interest if Good Schoop shows up. I was excited by the pick-up initially, but I'm not going to lie and say Schoop's first week as a Brewer hasn't cast some doubt in my mind. It's almost like the Brewer middle infield curse has gone in reverse. Typically the guys become stars after leaving Milwaukee. This time, albeit in a very small sample, a good player has come to Milwaukee and significantly regressed.
  19. The posters here that seem to be taking pleasure in Schoop's poor play to prove themselves right are beginning to get a little bothersome.
  20. Kennedy is a junkballer making his ML debut this evening. The Brewers historically have struggled in this type of situation. Hopefully Chacin is on his game, because I don't see a lot of runs being scored. Watch the Brewers put up 10 now LOL
  21. That is a logical argument. Thank you. The people saying Schoop is horrible I believe are wrong. His profile is an odd fit for this offense, though. I agree completely there.
