  1. I don't care how poorly Arcia is hitting, batting Shaw against a tough lefty in that situation was an odd move.
  2. It was fun watching how hard Puig hustled after that laser to try to keep it to a single I know Puig probably has a lot more perceived value than Braun now, but I'm kinda happy that trade didn't go though. Puig is a turd.
  3. It seems skewed because the "misses" are often quickly jettisoned, ala Brad Miller. Others that fall into that category include Boone Logan and Neftali Feliz.
  4. I know Brian Anderson's whereabouts have been touched on, but does anyone know where he actually is? Seems like he hasn't been with the team for awhile now.
  5. I imagine he'll be claimed way before he makes it to the Brewers. Too many teams still in playoff contention.
  6. Sonny Gray for Ryan Braun ... no money changes hands. Would Braun veto a trade to a super team where he could DH?
  7. I think any opportunity to trade or otherwise jettison Braun has come and gone. Which is fine. This is what happens when stars age, and the risk that you run when you sign stars to large, long-term contracts. Braun is going to continue to serve his role as basically an expensive limited-position utility player though 2020, when his mutual option will likely be bought out. I think he has the ability to get hot and hopefully carry the team's offense for short stretches, but the MVP version of Ryan Braun likely isn't going to ever be back. But as a wily veteran and team leader, you could do worse.
  8. Check your condescending tone at the door. No need to freak out people, I'm not saying send him down long term. I don't know why the immediate reaction is to act as thought AAA is punishment or something. He has really been struggling since a week before the ASG, it's not like he's had one bad week or something. A week in AA is just what the doctor ordered sometimes, happens all the time- even with players who have no options remaining. I rarely accept the premise something can NEVER happen, and I don't know how more clear I can be by saying I highly doubt they would go that route. But no, it's not impossible. Really, it is pretty much impossible. Aguilar is out of options. It's the whole reason the Brewers were able to get him from the Indians in the first place.
  9. Part of me wonders if deGrom was the "pitcher almost acquired" that Stearns referred to yesterday. That would have been one heck of a splash. Can't believe that was the deal..... not much news anywhere that deGrom was even on the market, much less traded. I was thinking more along the lines of Archer or Harvey. You may be right. I'd be willing to bet the package the Brewers put out there for Archer likely focused on Ortiz and perhaps included Carmona too (along like names like Erceg, Lutz and Diplan). That's probably why they had to rush the Schoop deal to get in just before the deadline. They had to make sure they were out on Archer for committing to the Schoop trade. I think it was quite obvious that they weren't going to trade Hiura, Burnes, Ray and maybe even Peralta.
  10. I saw a couple crack the mitt at 95. His stuff has surprised me as well.

  12. What would I give up, or what it would realistically take? The ask probably starts with Hiura, Burnes and Ray, and you'd probably have to add Hader too.
  13. These have to be from that same bunch of posters who always seem to have a problem with any move the team makes. I love that Stearns and his staff always seem to find these diamonds in the rough on the cheap, and are able to squeeze the most out of them that they can. They absolutely know what they are doing. Some of those are from me, and I am by no means a Stearns hater. But I hated the Miley move at the time, and I'll own it. I also hated the roster construction with too many 1B types early on, and not trading Santana, and for the most part that has worked out. It can be argued that he should have traded Santana, but then you start arguing about hypotheticals. Right now the overachieving pitching has masked over the many offensive performers that have regressed this year. Can that continue? We'll see.
  14. The Milwaukee Brewers are back in 1st place!!! For all the pessimists who said they wouldn't sniff 1st place again this season, Ha!
  15. So, did we just see our new closer, or will it truly be a committee approach? Knebel only gets chances with a 2 or more run lead until he gets right.
  16. I'll admit to being one of the biggest Miley detractors when he was inked back in early spring. I thought he was just another junk bottom of the rotation starter. I was actually upset when he pitched well enough in spring to earn a spot. I have to admit that our husky Jeremiah Johnson is starting to grow on me. His fastball is sitting in the mid-90s, and he has nice breaking stuff. His command is not ideal, but there is nothing wrong with his stuff. It's almost as if the Brewers acquired another decent starter with his return off the DL. Getting the good version of Davies back would be another feather in the cap.
  17. Wow is it nice having good hitters at the top of the lineup. Hopefully these trades got us some help though the middle and bottom. We need Arcia and Pina to pick it up. If they do, watch out.
  18. Don't forget that Schoop having an extra year of control means the Brewers will likely recoup a high pick if he bolts in 2020.
