  1. No. Most know it’s an area we can improve upon. The pitchers we have right now are solid. We can win with what we have. But posting over and over what you do is maddening. We get it. Everyone does. We lack a TOR type pitcher since Nelson’s injury. I’m sure Stearns is on it. But he may not think a guy like Lynn is that type of pitcher. Maybe he’s okay with rolling with Woodruff and Suter instead. Or heck, maybe even Hader. 1. Anderson 2. Davies 3. Chacin 4. Woodruff 5. Suter, Guerra, Hader, Gallardo Anderson put up a 2.74 ERA last season, and won 12 games while missing a large chunk of the year due to injury. Davies won 17 games with a 3.90 ERA. Chacin put 13 wins and a 3.89 ERA. Woodruff looked like he belonged in his limited opportunities. Suter and even Wilkerson looked good at times. Guerra is a bounce-back candidate, as is Gallardo. Hader is an ace in the hole. Nelson seems to be ahead of schedule on his rehab as well. Could the team use a top of the rotation starter? Yep, but what team wouldn't? Do they need it? Not necessarily.
  2. He said earlier today that it could be a week. Could be blowing smoke. Who really knows? I'm in I'll believe it when I see it mode. I was taking it hook, line and sinker a couple days ago. Now I am skeptical. Basically its because this thread has now discussed two deals that our "insider" basically assured would happen. He seemed quite optimistic about Darvish as well. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice ...
  3. Dude. Just make your signature something about how we need another starter and post something else, my god. Or change your handle to repeat. This!
  4. If Santana isn't traded for one, I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that they sign Lynn, Cobb or Arrieta.
  5. If that's the case, screw the front office for waiting for a contrived pep rally to announce it.

  7. Oh no! That doesn't fit into the "We have to wait to make our big announcement for our On Deck pep rally!" Deal off! Come on, I can't be the only one that is a little miffed that they like to "break" news at their annual pep rally. Seems kind of juvenile. Seems really contrived if true. Reminds me of signs telling fans to cheer in-game. Hopefully the fan fest has nothing to do with anything baseball ops related Oh, it's been done: And yes, totally contrived and stupid. But if I remember right, several personnel-type decisions have been "made public" at this event. It's like the team is catering to its cutesy social media people.

  9. So you're of the opinion that the ball wasn't juiced this year despite several articles being written on it? Or if it's not juiced, the feel is different, which obviously impacts pitchers. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/baseballs-are-more-consistently-juiced-than-ever/ https://sports.yahoo.com/world-series-players-concerns-slick-juiced-baseballs-continue-prior-game-5-012645244.html https://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2017/10/30/16570142/world-series-mlb-baseballs-juiced-slick-homers https://www.theringer.com/2017/6/14/16044264/2017-mlb-home-run-spike-juiced-ball-testing-reveal-155cd21108bc https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2017/06/29/mlb-juiced-ball-home-runs/440203001/ http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/open-letter-mlb-commissioner-rob-manfred-juiced-balls/ That's literally the first page of a google search. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the idea that these athletes are bigger, stronger and more highly conditioned than they were even 10 years ago.
  10. Arcia OPS’s .731 last season at age 22. Escobar has never done that in his entire big league career of a decade. With a juiced ball. That .730 OPS screams cornerstone to me. Juiced ball? Are you serious? No, you can't be serious. You are messing with us now.
  11. Good for them. So who would be an untouchable prospect in your mind? Do the Brewers have any right now? Are their any players on the MLB roster that are worth hanging onto, or is everyone fair game? I mean, I'm really trying to understand your viewpoint, but I'm having trouble seeing how it leads to success?
  12. Bullseye! I wouldn't say they won't get anything accomplished, though. They seem pretty hell bent on trading Santana, so I think that happens eventually. Which means they probably sign Cain. I think they also sign one of the starters who's left out of Lynn, Cobb or Arrieta. Not as exciting as a big deal for a potential stud, but not sitting on their hands either.
  13. Nothing burger 2.0 Really starting to look that way... I was really looking forward to adding Yelich! Not if the Brewers' offer is being used as a pawn. Likely means that the Brewers' offer includes high-end "name" prospects that the Marlins may not be too high on. Which likely means names like Brinson and Ortiz or maybe Phillips ... names that have appeared on Top Prospect lists for several years.
  14. Of course it would. They would have to give up solid high-end prospects to do it.
  15. Arcia is a building-block player. Not the type of player you move if you are building a contender. I truly believe that there is no way Stearns would have moved Escobar in the Greinke deal had he been the GM at the time. Strong shortstops are just too valuable.
  16. Makes me believe the Brewers are being used as a pawn. Hopefully Stearns puts a "put up or shut up" deadline on Jeter's lap.
  17. Don't jump off a bridge. No one knows what the offer is, or how our supposed "insider" values the prospects involved. Frankly, HH has not supplied anything that is concrete. Perhaps he is "in the know", but there is nothing so far that isn't capable of being complete speculation at this point.
  18. Gotta look deeper than 2017, man. Both are high-end prospects who had down years. It happens. 14/16/17 - All down years for Diaz Top 100 for Ortiz - Not in Law's or Baseball America Diaz was the team's 2016 Minor League Player of the Year! I guess we have different ideas of what a "down year" actually is. Ortiz lost a little luster because of not super great results last year, but he's a 1st rounder for a reason. And the numbers he put up as a 21-year-old in AA in 2017 aren't half bad.
  19. Gotta look deeper than 2017, man. Both are high-end prospects who had down years. It happens.
  20. Sounds like you think they're offer is an overpay. Not good for a non-pitcher and non-superstar player. And friends sounds like Castro as part of the package. Boy, it sure is a good thing that the term "overpay" is completely and 100% subjective. "Friends" may be Castro, Chen, Prado, Ziegler, Tazawa, or even Straily or Realmuto. Weren't the Brewers rumored to have interest in Straily around the trade deadline last year?
  21. Or maybe it's just a lot of smoke that's being blown from several sources. Kinda why it's called the Hot Stove League, right? Honestly, though, the whole "A, B, C, D" scenario sounds very, very far fetched. I think the team will likely still make some moves, but it will be things like maybe signing Cain to an affordable deal, then trading pieces like Broxton and Santana. A big FA pitcher signing like Cobb, Lynn or even Arietta wouldn't surprise me.
