  1. I didn't think it going into today, but I'm probably 95% sure that Aaron Rodgers' Packer career is over. Welcome to the Jordan Love era.
  2. If Turner falters early, at least Yosh is waiting in the wings, and had a ton of time this year. They probably figure Turner may be a little more stout against that front. We'll see.
  3. That is surprising if that's what the plan is. Yosh played just fine.
  4. I doubt they'll do that. Lafleur always tries to get a score to close out the half, then double up to start the 2nd half. I can't think of a time they won the toss and chose to receive.
  5. The sad thing is that he's actually a pretty dang good player. There is absolutely no legit reason for him to conduct himself in that manner. He isn't some sort of 13th man who an old school coach puts in to make a statement. He's a legit top 20 NBA off guard. But crap like this has labeled him as a dirty prick, and he'll likely never live it down.
  6. They have up to 90 minutes before gametime to activate two players off the practice squad. A DL is likely, as they only have 4 on the active roster currently. Perhaps even two if they don't activate Moore.
  7. Pretty sure Rosiak transferred to the Brewers beat from preps when Drew Olsen left the MJS. They've always had two full time guys on that beat, likely due to the travel and big schedule. It wouldn't surprise me to see Ben Steele, who covers Marquette athletics, or Mark Stewart or Curt Hogg, the preps reporters, transfer to the Brewers beat.
  8. Of course. The Niners aren't going to let a potential brain injury stand in the way of playoff football. The Bosas are all kinda meatheads anyway, so the bar to pass the concussion protocol perhaps wasn't too difficult
  9. I disagree. I don't think he's done. But they have either seen something with how he played against Detroit, or how he recovered from that game, and from subsequent practices, that have caused them to be very conservative with how they are treating him right now. My guess is he practices tomorrow, and tries to gut it out Saturday night. Fluid on the knee (if that's what it truly is) sucks, though. It's honestly like trying to play football with an ice bag strapped to your knee. It saps your explosion and flexibility. My guess is that fluid is building up after every time he plays or practices, so they are trying to limit that as much as possible.
  10. I believe he used to comment in the comment section on the MJS site also from time to time. I think those were worse than his Twitter ones but I could be not remembering this correctly it has been about 10 or so years since I have seen comments on the MJS articles. Though I don't really blame him for those comments it was like the people commenting there had a brain of a drunken 3-year old. It's really the same thing with Twitter. If a fan reacts negatively to him there, he has never been afraid to give it back. Perhaps one of the aspects that does downgrade him is his lack of patience with those who ask somewhat remedial or naive questions, or make similar comments. It's almost as if he has always expected the fans he interacts with to have the similar knowledge base he always brought from being paid to cover the team for nearly 40 years. That type of attitude could certainly rub some the wrong way. But most of the time, he was muting or blocking jerks. And being Twitter, there are a lot.
  11. The astronomical growth of Fanatics scares me. You are already seeing quality of their products suffer as they gain more of a monopoly on the market. I predict the bottom is going to fall out of that company at some point, simply because they are flying too close to the sun with non-battle tested wings.
  12. LONG time Brewers beat writer Tom Haudricourt just announced via Twitter that he plans to retire in February: I know a lot of posters here are not big fans of the guy, but please don't turn this into a bash Tom thread. The longevity of his career should be applauded. He also seems to have a pretty high level of respect among his peers and MLB as a whole.
  13. Dean Lowry has been excellent this year. Lancaster has been serviceable. But they definitely could use an infusion of talent there.
  14. Obviously you are correct. The 49ers plan is already likely run heavy. It would be very run heavy should Lance be in there. That said, the Packers defense is in a much better place personnel wise than it was a couple years ago, when Blake Martinez constantly tried in vain to beat Raheem Mostert to the edge. Campbell is so much more athletic than Martinez ever was, and Joe Barry's scheme depends on safeties and CBs providing much more in run support than Pettine's ever did. I would actually worry about the Packers selling out on the run, which would leave them vulnerable to Kittle or Samuel on pop passes off of play action.
  15. The wideouts are fine and Kittle is a mismatch for anyone. The problem for the 49ers is that Garopo can't throw to the sides of the field or down the field at all. He is a game manager which works well. Don't turn the ball over and you win more often than not. Might be worse for the Packers if Lance has to start. If Trey Lance has to play a significant role in this game, I'd pick the Packers to win by 30. He's basically in the same boat as Jordan Love right now – there is certainly some intriguing raw material there to work with, but he's far from ready.
  16. This is pretty much an evergreen thought. Good organizations constantly turn over their offensive and defensive lines.
  17. Gamesmanship. He'll be out there unless his knee looks and feels like a water balloon.
  18. You will ... in May.
  19. Every potential NFC matchup from here on out is great. I love it!
  20. LOL yeah, there is that.
  21. Careful what you wish for. Tampa is a warm weather team, but their QB is not a warm weather QB. TB12 will be ready for the challenge, and so will the rest of the team, assuming they get by LA, which I am not certain of. You like a matchup with the Packers better than one with the Rams? That "careful what you wish for" thing may be a two-way street.
  22. Buffalo/KC is a true toss-up I think. That game is giving me 45-42 type vibes where each QB passes for 400 yards and 5 TDs.
  23. I think all four games next week are great matchups. Ten/Cincy has a lot of intrigue with Henry coming off of IR and playing for the first time in almost 3 months, along with how explosive the Cincy offense has been of late.
  24. He also apparently has a shoulder sprain but is expected to play. Sounds like they expect Bosa to bounce back quick as well. How do you "bounce back" from a concussion, though? Protocol is the same no matter the severity. With the short week it's going to be tough for him to clear the hurdles he needs to clear. But I expect Bosa to play, in the same manner that the NFL had no new COVID positives yesterday. Because stars playing brings more eyes to TV broadcasts.
  25. The Rams can certainly go down to Tampa and beat the Bucs. I'm honestly not sure which team I'd rather see the Packers face in the NFCC, though, should they beat the Niners. The Bucs have SO many injuries that they are a shadow personnel-wise of what they were last year. The Rams, however, are pretty healthy, and have a balanced offense that should be able to move the ball on the Bucs. Cam Akers looked electric for them last night, and needs to get the ball more. The PTSD concerning Brady and the Bucs is so strong. I'd personally prefer the Rams take them out as well.
