  1. I do agree with this. Yeli had some big chances tonight and put together some awful ABs, just like he has for this whole season. Doubtful that anyone else does anything at those spots but still infuriating that he's penciled in there just because, despite not being good for 2 years.
  2. Agree with this. I don't think the answer is to just completely sit Yeli, but he absolutely should be platooned and not be batting 3rd in the lineup.
  3. Both of those pitchers were miles and miles worse than Anderson last year. Their upside is also much, much greater. Like I said, we will see. Hope I'm wrong.
  4. I would have rather signed Gausman for the 1 year $9 million deal he got, or hung on to Jimmy Nelson for the $3-4 million he would have costed, but I guess we'll see..
  5. I'm not a fan of letting Nelson walk. For what he was pre-injury, I think it would be worth giving him another chance to bounce back. He has a full offseason where he is healthy to try and ramp it back up. This move is one I fear blows up in Stearns's face.
  6. I loved Grandal but glad the Brewers didn't sign him at that price. Just sign Jason Castro and that gives you a solid platoon with Pina- both offensively and defensively.
  7. I think the Brewers are planning on resigning Moose and 1st will covered by current in house options like- Braun, Shaw, Gamel, etc. or someone taken off the FA scrap pile (Bird, Matt Adams, etc.). Resigning Grandal and playing him a bunch at 1st base wastes his value as a +hitting Catcher. Speaking of Grandal, I really like him but I'm starting to hope the Brewers don't sign him just because I think his price will get high and Catchers do not age well into their mid 30's. I would just sign Jason Castro and platoon him with Pina. Use the $$$ elsewhere.
  8. -Would love to have Grandal and Pomeranz back, but I think each ultimately gets priced out of Stearn's comfort level. -Moose is more signable and gets a 3 year deal. -With Moose back, Shaw is non tendered. -Lyles resigned to a 2 year deal, and Anderson let go. Bring back Nelson to see what another year of recovery does. -Option for Thames picked up. -Sign one of Odorizzi or Zack Wheeler. -Sign Joes Iglesias to 1 or 2 year deal to play SS. -Find a decent LH hitting catcher to platoon with Manny. -Sign a couple other cheap SP/RP arms for possible "bouncebacks" and see if something sticks. -Give Braun alot of reps at 1B. SP options to start the season include: Woodruff, Odorizzi/Wheeler, Davies, Lyles, Houser, Nelson, Burnes Bullpen options: Suter, Hader, Wahl, Knebel, Black, Claudio, Peralta, Guerra, etc. There is an obvious 3 year window to really go for it, so I hope MA is willing to stretch the payroll and let Stearns do his thing.
  9. Not being able to just throw strikes to a crappy hitter like Taylor killed Hader. Also, I pray I never have to watch an Orlando Arcia at bat as a Brewer ever again in my life..
  10. Once again, Quintana won't even break a sweat through 7 innings against the Brewers..
  11. Has Counsell still not realized that this is not last year's bullpen? This again started with pulling the SP early and asking the bullpen to complete 4 innings, when it's a miracle to get even 1 clean inning from this bullpen. And going with Williams over Hader in the 9th when Hader has barely pitched lately is just unexplainable.
  12. I'm just so annoyed with Counsell. I know he has been dealt a crappy bullpen but I still question his feel for handling it. How many times does he need to see guys like Peralta and Guerra fail before he gives anyone else a chance with a lead? Why even bring up Williams or Black? Just keep trotting out guys who've failed over and over again all season long. And why did Pomeranz only pitch 1 inning?
  13. Cain has a .314 OBP. Why does Counsell continue to bat him leadoff?? That's who CC wants getting the most AB opportunities? Yea yea I know he got on base tonight, but once again he couldn't get it done when it mattered.
  14. I would roll with Grisham over Cain, even against the LHP. I think he has looked fine in his AB's against lefties. His numbers in the minors were not drastically split.
  15. The book is out on Hader, forsure.. Can't throw his slider for a strike so hitters just wait on his fastball, which is straight and misses his spot way too often.
  16. Shaw finally gets a hit and even that looks bad. An absolute spinning, hanger and Shaw chops it off the ground right in front of home plate but it sneaks through the middle.
  17. They still have a shot to sneak into the playoffs, but nothing is going to happen there. Honestly, I'm really starting to worry about next year and the few years beyond- AKA the rest of the Yelich era. Sure, we'll still have Yeli and Hiura but it is worrisome beyond that. Moose & Grandal will be gone, Cain and Braun a year older, Shaw is a huge question mark, SS & C will be massive holes on offense, and there are no promising prospects knocking on the door (except Grisham). And that's just offensively. The pitching will still be a huge question mark as well. Can Burnes or Peralta be successful MLB starters? Even if they can, you're still another legit starting pitcher away from having a team that can compete for a WS. The bullpen also will need rebuilding around Hader. Ideally, they can find a reliable Closer so they can go back to using Hader in more multi inning situations. Next year's team is going to need so much work/help if they are going to be competitive.
  18. This is probably what is most disappointing to me. I also have very little confidence in Arcia and it seems he is locked in as the everyday SS for at least the next year or two, no matter what.
  19. Have the Brewers not learned from all of the struggles when the bullpen continually walks guys?? T Williams and J Barnes can have electric stuff too, but we've all seen that movie many times over...
  20. I'm soooo ready to be done with Arcia as a Brewer. Just a disappointment. Awful offensively and his D is a tad overrated- at least by Brewer people. Just trade him and let Dubon play.
