  1. Yea, that was bad. Worst part is the 2nd bunt attempt was on a fastball right down the middle. He wants to try it on his own the 1st pitch, that I can at least understand, but doing it until you have 2 strikes?? C'mon.
  2. Arcia definitely tried to bunt on his own. Could read CC's lips, "what are you doing"
  3. Hader has got to get the fastball up. They are just sitting fastball and when hitters do that, it doesn't matter how hard you throw if it's over the plate and down.
  4. If you didn't trust Peralta to face Carpenter to lead off the game, why would you trust him to face him in the third with a runner on? This is exactly what it boils down to. The ONLY reason Jennings started was to try and prevent Carpenter from beating you. He started solely because you didn't want a righty to face Carpenter but then you allow a righty to face him with a runner on. Makes zero sense.
  5. So we start Jennings just to face Carpenter when there will be no one on, but then you let him face Carpenter with a guy on? Why not just start Peralta or someone else if you don't want Chase starting?
  6. I don't like it. I get it in a one game, win or go home scenario like a WC game, but I don't like it for game 1 of an extremely important 3 game series. They could put themselves in an awful position for games 2 and 3 of the series if they burn up the top arms in the bullpen tonight and lose. Just start Chase and have a super short leash on him. I guess if they are planning on Guerra, Peralta or Woodruff right after Jennings, it could turn out OK.
  7. I would honestly like to see less of Aguilar, or at least drop him down in the order. He has a .720 OPS since the all star break and under .650 for the last month. Happy to see Domingo get a start, though.
  8. I wouldn't mind seeing Santana get a start.. He's hot right now, you might as well give him some more AB's. Would also like to see Jesus get another night off.. Can go with any of Braun, Shaw, or Thames at 1st base.
  9. With the days off every two games, I am only keeping 11 guys in the pen. Being able to go with less pitchers, allows to keep bats on bench just to pinch hit. So you are not necessarily picking the full roster based on how heavy they are for starters. You want to be able to pinch hit against their tough guys in the pen. (Jansen and Strop actually neutral/reverse splits) 4SP: Chacin, Miley, Anderson, Gio 7Pen: Jeffress, Hader, Burnes, Soria, Cendeno, Knebel, Woodruff/Davies 2: Kratz, Pina 5: Moose, Arcia, Schoop, Shaw, Aguilar 4OF: Yelich, Cain, Braun, Granderson 3Bench: Thames, Broxton, Santana I could get on board with this, if you take Perez over Thames. I know people don't like Perez but he's been pretty good against lefties and they need his versatility on defense. Being able to plug him in as a defensive replacement pretty much anywhere late in the game really gives CC some flexibility as far as pinch hitting, pinch running, etc.
  10. The Brewers have a real opportunity here to get a sweep while the other teams in the NL chase beat up on each other. Colo has to go to LA, Cubs head to Ariz, and the Cards play in Atlanta. Brewers really need to take advantage. Depending on how those other series go, a sweep could really put the Brewers in a commanding position for home field in the WC game, or make up some ground on the division race.
  11. My NLDS squad: C: Pina, Kratz IF: Aguilar, Schoop, Shaw, Moose, Perez, Arcia OF: Cain, Yelich, Braun, Granderson, Broxton SP: Chacin, Miley, Anderson, Davies Pen: Gio, Hader, JJ, Knebel, Soria, Burnes, Cedeno, Woodruff Thames or Broxton is tough, but Granderson is better than Thames and it would be really nice to have Broxton's D and speed available. Also, if they're playing the Cubs you don't need the extra lefty bat. I did strongly consider leaving off another pitcher (Woodruff) to have both Broxton and Thames.
  12. Add me in the group scratching my head that CC went with Agui over Braun there..
  13. Whew! That was quick. Someone just knock one out of here to get a little breathing room..
