  1. I don't understand why we can never hit these Cub's starting pitchers. Lester, Hendricks, Quintana, Hamels... They all just shut the Brewers down every time.
  2. So, let's say they lose 3 of the next 4 this week after tonight- it certainly feels we're heading that direction. That would put them just a game above .500, likely 5+ games behind the Cubs in the division, and still missing your Ace for at least another month & a half. You'd have a hard time convincing me that they shouldn't sell guys like Moose & Grandal at that point. Depressing to think about after last season..
  3. Wow, that was an awful pitch. Rock basically called it twice now tonight. First time with 2 outs and Iglesias up to bat and a scrub on deck, and Rock commented to be careful with a hot RISP hitter. Then again right before the Suarez HR there. No doubt, some questionable decisions by CC.
  4. This team has so many guys who have no business being on a Major League roster at the moment- Shaw, Aguilar, Burnes, Claudio, Nelson, Peralta.. The sad part is most of them were expected to be key cogs this year and in the future. What a disaster.
  5. A LHP prospect making his Major League debut against the Brewers.. I'll be shocked if the Crew scratch more than 1 or 2 runs against this guy.
  6. Strongly disagree with this move. First of all, sending Hiura down is NOT the only way to keep Thames, Aguilar, and Shaw. Shaw has options left and has done nothing in AAA to show that he has figured things out. Why rush this move? Why not make Shaw earn his way back or Aguilar completely play himself out? Why penalize the one guy who is performing? If you absolutely have to bring Shaw up right now, why not send a pitcher down and figure it out for the next week? Now when we play at Houston next week and their is an extra spot in the lineup for the DH, Hiura isn't eligible to come back up yet. Moves like this just tick me off.
  7. The Pirates are 28th in the Majors in Runs scored but based on their games against the Brewers the past year and a half, I'd swear they are one of the best offensive teams in the last decade.
  8. Agreed. I doubt Shaw just suddenly had a wrist injury. Brewers sure could have used that bat the last 4 games.
  9. Hader was missing spots all over that inning. Even the K's to Turner and Muncy were fastballs right down the middle on 0-2 pitches.
  10. If you're talking about the last charge call drawn by Davison, that didn't decide the game. NC State was down 3 with under 20 seconds left at the time. It was a pretty smart play by Davison, really. Worst case scenario is you send NC State to the line to try and make a pair of FT's in a 1&1 bonus situation, to get within one. A couple of those Davison charges were clear charges and a couple were iffy. One thing is forsure, Davison has put an even bigger target on his back and is going to have a hard time getting those calls from here on out- especially on the road. Coaches are going to be all over the officials before games to not fall for Davison's "flopping." It doesn't get any easier for the Badgers going to Iowa tonight, then an improved Rutgers team at home, and at Marquette next weekend. Going 2-1 would be a success in this stretch and going 3-0 would be an amazing start to the season.
  11. IMO, Guerra should be sent straight to the bullpen for 2019. He looked really good there and could be a guy that gives you multiple innings. I think he holds too much potential value for the Brewer's pen, so it doesn't make much sense to trade him. I would be hesitant to deal Davies, too. He will only be 26 and has shown he can be a good, mid rotation starter. They would be selling him at an all time low value, too. Anderson is really the only one that makes much sense to move this offseason, IMO. If they feel they need to move more SP's because of a possible surplus, the other guy I would look at moving is Peralta. I'm sure that is unpopular to many, but I guess I'm a Peralta skeptic. His control is still pretty erratic and he seems like one of those guys that could start to struggle once opponents start seeing him more. I understand his fastball is good, but it's tough to get by on one pitch in the long run, especially when the control isn't that good. Just my opinion, maybe I'm way off!
  12. Burnes is going to be a starter next season, the organization has stated that publicly multiple times. I'm not sure why people keep saying the Brewers need to make a decision on whether to keep him in the pen or not. They have already stated their decision. The only way he's not in the rotation to start the season is if he's injured or totally sucks in Spring Training. Also, very unlikely that Miley will be a Brewer next season. Someone will overpay him now and Stearns is smart enough to avoid that. I fully expect him to scrounge the market for another reclamation project or two similar to Miley on cheap/minor league deals. Woodruff I would move to the rotation and Guerra permanently to the bullpen. Anderson might get traded, but Davies probably sticks around to see if he can bounce back. I don't see any need to deal or sign a SP that people consider a "TOR" guy. The cost is not worth it based on all the options the Brewers already have.
  13. If they are going to win the series, the "big bats" are going to have to do something. Cain, Yeli, Aguilar and Moose have all looked awful.
  14. A lot of fastballs over the middle of the plate that the Brewers have been whiffing on or straight watching tonight. Aguilar and Schoop especially.
  15. Well, at least this will be Schoop's last start of the playoffs. Man, you can't ask for better pitches to hit than those first two he swung right through.
  16. Starting Miley game 1 makes a lot of sense. Miley in 2 starts against the Dodgers this year gave up zero earned runs in 13 innings. Chacin on the other hand, was hammered in his one start against the Dodgers this year- giving up 8 runs in less than 5 innings.
  17. I probably drop Santana and add Cedeno. Also swap either Chase/Davies for Peralta, or possibly even both of them for Peralta and Guerra. I think either of Chase/Davies can have success pitching in LA, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them there. I think they go to 12 pitchers for the series, so you need to drop a bench player and Santana is probably the easiest one to drop IMO. He brings nothing other than a PH bat. There will usually be at least 3 RH bats on the bench in addition to him in Schoop, Broxton, and Perez. Is Santana a better hitter than those guys? Probably, but he doesn't bring anything else to the table and those guys do. I would consider dropping Schoop instead, but I just don't think there's any chance the Brewers do that. I expect he'll actually get a couple starts in the series.
  18. I do feel bad for guys like Thames, Davies, and Chase. Especially since they all had big seasons last year in getting the team so close to the playoffs. Now the team gets over the hump and they're left out. Chase has struggled some this year, but I didn't think he was THAT bad. Davies was fine since he came back but his numbers look bad because he was pretty unlucky. Not sure about Guerra over Cedeno. Sure, Rockies are RH but I still think you would want a lefty specialist for guys like Blackmon, C Go, Dahl, Parra, etc. As I've said before, Guerra has looked good out of the pen but it is a very small sample size (6 innings) and not in the most stressful situations. We will see how it all turns out!
  19. I think this would match my roster as of today, as well. Good chance Peralta makes it now, given the RH bats and success he's had against the Rockies. I can see Chase or T Williams having a shot to make the roster as well, but I'm not sure who you drop then- probably Gio or Miley. I also, think this changes how CC sets up starters. I think you want your ground ball pitchers to pitch in Colorado, so that would mean Chacin and Davies. I think you could pitch Chacin game 3 and then still have him for game 5, if need be. I guess that leaves Miley for game 1. For game 2 I would go with Chase or Peralta, I guess. Not sure I like Gio against this Colorado offense. Obviously all of these starters will be on pretty short leashes, as always.
  20. How has Hamels become unhittable as a Cub?
