  1. That may be, but Broxton still has value THIS year. It would be nice to have him in playoffs as a late inning defensive replacement. If the Brewers have to give up anything for Harvey, it will be someone nowhere near the value of Broxton. If the 40 man is the concern, just dump Orf or Lyles..
  2. Thanks. Close enough to the top. The Pirates hit into SEVEN DPs tonight while dropping their second straight 1-0 game to the Cubs. Don't worry, we didn't want Hamels. Not better than anything we already have.... (Or Gausman, Happ, Lynn, etc.)
  3. This is totally going to happen. They will get a lead tomorrow and CC will bring in Hader who will not be sharp and give up the lead. CC's excuse after the game will be- he was rusty, we weren't able to use him the past few days, etc., etc.
  4. This would've been a good post last season, but I'm not sure it fits right now. You don't think Stearns expected the Brewers to contend this season? Why would he trade 3 top 100 prospects and sign a guy in his 30's to a 5 year deal this offseason if he didn't expect to contend this season? Why would he trade Meideros, Phillips, Lopez, Ortiz, and Carmona for 3 guys with limited control if he didn't expect to win this season? Sure last season was unexpected, but it certainly wasn't this year. Stearns will be just as upset as us "illogical" fans if they miss the playoffs this season. It's way too early for this, though. Let's see how the season ends. If they miss the playoffs it will be disappointing and will put a ton of pressure on next season. They are absolutely are in contending mode this season though, a majority of the key players are in their prime or near the end of their prime, and it's not like there's a wave of elite talent in the minors knocking on the door. I don't understand why people act like that's the case.
  5. I would say I agree with the original post that all the "we're still ahead of schedule in the rebuild" excuse is used as a scapegoat. We are no longer in rebuild, it's over, we are in a competitive window right now. The rebuilding phase ended this offseason when Stearns traded 3 top 100 prospects for Yelich, and signed a guy in his 30's to a 5 year deal. It was taken even further at the deadline when he traded a number of the team's top 10 prospects for guys with a max of 1.5 years of control. Stearn's goal is to be a consistent competitive team from season to season. This year is one of those competitive seasons. Which is fine, if you actually make the playoffs. If they miss the playoffs again this year, there is going to be a ton of pressure going into next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see significant moves. I also don't believe CC is as safe as everyone thinks he is. Let's remember he was already in place before Stearns, so no one really knows Stearn's true opinion of him. Brewers miss the playoffs again this year and Stearns can dump him if he wants. If people really believe we're still rebuilding, I'm concerned. The organizational talent in the minors is pretty average with few elite prospects. The depth is pretty good, but that obviously took at hit at the deadline.
  6. With a day off Thursday I'm ok using either for an inning True. I guess my main thought is, it would be nice to have them available to cover 3-4 innings combined tomorrow. The rest of the bullpen should be able to hold a 6 run lead for 2 innings.
  7. Would be awesome if they can get this W and not have to use JJ or Hader..
  8. A day game against Quintana... We've seen both of these movies before- I don't like our chances.
  9. thats assuming that MIN or BAL didnt want other prospects for those two players, which they clearly did, or else we'd have gotten those two players.... Sure, it may not have been the exact same players involved, but it's pretty ignorant to believe the Brewers flat out couldn't have gotten those guys. The package the Brewers gave up for Moustakas was clearly better than what the Twins got for Dozier. Also, the Orioles obviously liked Ortiz and Carmona enough, given they took them for Schoop. The return they got from the Braves for Gausman was certainly beatable. Heck, I would've been willing to build a deal around Peralta for Gausman- I believe I even said so in the Transactions board sometime before the deadline. I'm not throwing in the towel and saying they were awful trades, it's too early to do that. I'm just saying they were head scratchers at the time, and look even more questionable now.
  10. Instead of moving all those pieces for Moustakas and Schoop, using them to get Dozier and Gausman would've made a lot more sense IMO. I do like Moose, though.
  11. Makes me sick.. Hamels with another great outing for the Scrubs as well.. Remember a couple weeks ago when everyone was saying SPs available like Hamels, Happ, Lynn, Archer, Gausmann, etc. didn't provide any real upgrade to what we already have??
  12. What do you think? This is the Milwaukee Brewers.. This is becoming an annual summer tradition. It would be best for us all to just stop watching once we get to July.
  13. Peralta sucked tonight and Knebel sucked last night, but offense has gone MIA again. No runs in last 9 innings..
  14. Knebel is just another in the long line of relievers who have the one and done elite years. Has great stuff, but will never be consistent due to lack of control. Honestly, I'm surprised more teams don't deal guys like Knebel right after they have one good year. They are so extremely volatile from year to year, if you can get a ransom for them, deal them. Relievers who stay really good year after year are extremely rare.
  15. This Brewers team is built very differently than a historical Brewers team. That said, it can be tough to adjust to someone you haven't seen before. I still think we light this guy up today though. This guy on the surface looks nowhere near capable of pitching in the majors. Cain and Yelich will go about 4-9 with a few walks. The rest of the team? Oh-fer? This is so accurate.
  16. This was probably the worst/ugliest game of the season. All the pitchers got rocked, non existent offense after one inning, errors all over, a blown 4 run lead, and just a flat out poor effort against a crappy team- all of this after a day off. Also, dropped another game and a half back in 2 days. I think it's understandable that people are pissed off.
  17. Worst hitting team in the NL just lighting them up. Terrible game all the way around after an off day. .500 team since the end of May...
  18. Make sure he's hitting cleanup tomorrow! Everyone else gets moved all over the lineup on a daily basis, but Schoop really needs to be 4th.
  19. Schoop... Just been horrendously bad all around here. Yikes.
  20. They need to drop Aguilar from that three spot until he heats up. I’d prefer Braun there, honestly. The man is on a tear. I would do: Cain CF Yelich RF Braun LF Moose 3B Aguilar 1B Schoop 2B Pina C Arcia SS Anderson P
  21. No, just a Travis Shaw playing 2nd base and Eric Thames playing RF type move!
  22. Way too early to freak out regarding Schoop, but I will admit he has looked pretty uninspiring so far. Watching Dozier mash against the Brewers certainly did not help either.
