  1. From Rotoworld. Brewers owner Mark Attanasio said "there’s always a chance" the team could pursue Kyle Lohse. "There’s always a chance," Attanasio said. "Again, it’s a function of size of contract, length of contract. Kyle had a phenomenal two seasons the last two seasons. We just have to see if that fits in our overall scheme." Milwaukee could use some rotation help, and they're one of likely a number of teams that would consider Lohse if his price falls far enough. Interest in Lohse has been sparse this winter despite the fact that he posted a 2.86 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 211 innings last season.
  2. I can't believe this is going to take 4 months.
  3. I met the guy who handed out Fielders all-star jersey 2 years ago or something like that.
  4. I know you don't stop trying but have we ever hit on one of these type of signings from Latin America??
  5. As it worked out, we're probably just as good if not better without Fielder when you consider the money we saved had we signed Fielder to a blockbuster deal.
  6. Ok the logic makes sense regarding the payroll and many have said we don't have any money etc... here's my question, if the Brewers don't have any money, how were they able to offer Greinke and Sabtahia and Fielder $100 million + deals? Were they phony offers? If they were legitimate I guess the Brewers would have bankrupted themselves. Something doesn't add up.......
  7. That is not even close enough to what you will have to pay for Hart and I don't see him taking a discount. 4 years at $60m is probably closer to what it would take to sign Hart. Nate, actually Hart would probably sign that deal today IMO.
  8. Ok here's the question as I see it. With a rebuilt bullpen, emerging starters, and an improving minor league system can the Brewers compete for divisions the next 3 years? If the answer is yes, you spend the money on Hart and maybe a #2 starter type becomes available at the deadline or in the off-season and we have a nice team for 2-3 years. If the answer is we're slipping back towards a rebuild then you should trade Hart now and get something better than a draft pick. As previously documented I'm all for signing Hart, 3 years for $36 million would seem to be about right, he probably would agree to defer some money if the Brew asked. GO BREW
  9. If LuCroy could be traded for a really good #2 starter I would have to strongly consider it. hard to put a value on Maldy, he looks really good on both sides of the plate to me, that has to be worth something pretty good, teams always want catching.
  10. Jackson is a solid #2 pitcher. Not sure how this is good for the Brewers. Facing Jackson instead of Chris Volstad 4 times a year doesn't help the Brewers. #2, good one, lol
  11. if the Cubs are going to spend almost $20 million on Jackson and Villenueva that can't be all bad for the Brew
  12. The stats speak for themselves regarding the Brewer offense but from my point of view the Brewer lineup can be pitched to (except for Braun). I think its a big mistake to assume just because we were ranked what #1 or #2 in runs last year that we'll do that again. If you can upgrade an offensive position you definitely do it you don't have to trade or buy the farm.
  13. If you had 20 of these wouldn't you put them on EBAY? Let's not throw stones
  14. I didn't think he ever played last year, how is he in a Brewer uniform?
  15. If Dempster performs for 2 years I don't see why both sides would be opposed to doing an option, I honestly would like to see more offense and go with our young pitching but that's just me.
  16. Is there any chance the Brewer could sign both? Perhaps they could attempt to deal a Peralta, pitching is so valuable.
  17. Does "talent" matter if it doesn't translate into results? Career Stats Gallardo: 3.63 ERA, 9.2 K/9 Greinke: 3.77 ERA, 8.0 K/9 I'm surprised, I love ZG but very overrated. His numbers probably would be better had he spent more time in the NL.
  18. Melvin has said he's not going above 2 years on these pitchers, unless its Greinke, aint happening, EJ isnt going to get 3 + an option fron anyone IMO
  19. EJ wont get 3 years from us.
  20. If its only going to take 3 years to sign Hamilton the Brew have to get involved (if they aren't already). This will go down as a HUGE opportunity missed if they pass on this guy. I would put our team (bullpen probs fixed) right at the top or near the top with this guy in the lineup. They could trade Gomez to clear some salary if they need to. Doug and Mark, time to step up!!!
  21. I think he's proposing we deal Gallardo
  22. Close? Hardricourt says no, darn Twitter
  23. ZERO chance you do that unless you're rebuilding, and I don't think we are.
  24. Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times writes that the Angels "aren't acting like a team confident in re-signing Zack Greinke." ESPN's Buster Olney reported that there's a "good chance" Greinke's new contract is worth more than CC Sabathia's record $161 million deal, and there's been heavy speculation that the Angels won't be meeting his asking price. They traded for Tommy Hanson and signed closer Ryan Madson this week, and could seek other free agent options for their starting rotation. The Angels have expressed interest in both Ryan Dempster and Shaun Marcum this offseason.
  25. So if the Dodgers are out and the Angels are supposedly out, would the Brewer get back in at $120 million for 6 years?
