  1. Interesting acquire. Guy is a starting pitcher. Is he added as AAA depth? Or possible transition to pen?
  2. To me I'd rather see a big bat, controllable big league player for Woodruff than a couple of maybes who might help down the road. The Brewers have to strike while they can still afford the young guys they have and make a legit run at the W.S. Woodruff would bring quite a haul from 4-5 teams with the type of talent the Brewers need right now. Would be nice for sure. But I think the amount of teams willing to unload an elite mlb bat aren’t going to be ones wanting woodruff. Any team that trades for Woodruff is likely going to want to send prospects as they want to win now. He is also going to be expensive the next few years, so that may limit teams as well. At some point we do need to look at unloading salary/talent, for younger cheaper talent. It’s the way it is regardless of who the player is.
  3. Woodruff is actually younger than Houser by 8 days…so literally flat there. Woody would get the larger haul it would seem. Would also gain more salary as Woody will get expensive quick. Houser is still cheap and really made strides. Mets get: SP Brandon Woodruff Brewers get: 3B Brett Baty C Francisco Alvarez Something like that to replenish the minors a bit with high end talent. Burnes Peralta Lauer Houser Ashby Veteran? Small in the wings. I like it!
  4. Yes, money more often than not wins the day. And can show how a company values an individual. But I will say, as a father/husband, I’d gladly take less money to be where I want to be. Grass isn’t always greener. Being a newish father, Stearns may find value in Milwaukee area consistency vs bright light. But who knows.
  5. Manny Pina has deal with Braves. $8M, 2 years plus option. 3rd year option is $4M. Nice deal for him. Will be missed.
  6. 3 out of 4 years for the guy. And last year wasn’t too shabby either.
  7. Would be kind of funny to see Mike Schlidt win Manager of the Year after being fired. Cardinals way baby!
  8. Castellanos is small potatoes for what Stearns has up his sleeve. Value. Keep finding value. Doesn’t need to be the headliners we all want.
  9. With how much pressure Love was under, I was surprised they kept him under center as much as they did. Out of the shotgun would give him a better shot in theory. Color me crazy, but I was relatively impressed with Love. Lots or pressure, especially up the middle, and he limited mistakes. Led a few solid drives. Made some good throws. Arm strength was there. Eye test vs stat line for me.
  10. One angst I do have with the media…is that this is all coming out like it’s new information. But it’s been known for months. Could do without the media coming off like they were wronged, when most/all local Atleast knew his situation. Aaron obviously can handle things better. But the media isn’t faultless in this either. Rodgers is an easy villain for them, just need to wait for Aaron to make a mistake.
  11. Your Taylor point is a good one. They can get similar production for league min. Not really sure garcia will be the play.
  12. Unless your name is Chris Davis then you progressively get worse.
  13. I thought he was kind of a let down after we acquired him. But looking at his stats he was better across the board than his time with AZ. I would move on and allocate resources else where though.
  14. I would think Turang would be expendable to some extent. Wong for 2 more years of control. Urias could also slide over and play a solid 2nd base as well if the time comes. The 2022 Brewers team in a way has a similar feel to the 2021 packers. Lots of talented players across the board, but at some point can’t afford them all. Could be a “Last Dance” of sorts for some of our core players (Woody, Cain, Hader, etc). But Stearns/CC have proven to be competitive regardless of changes made to roster.
  15. We have to be realistic. Our core pitchers (Woody, Hader, Burnes) will likely get $40-50 mil in 2023. Add that onto Yelich $20+. 2022 would be the year to full send for a year. Then unload Woody and possibly Hader next offseason. Kris Bryant would be the dream get. Elite bat and can play all over. I’m going to say this is the most active/high talent acquisition offseason the Crew has ever had. Which could even mean trading Some players we didn’t think would be on the block. Pitching and defense. Stay with that approach. But add something impactful for a year. Nelson Cruz is another name of the DH is around.
  16. A new hitting coach will take this team to a new level! Haines had the amazing honor of making every offensive player besides Urias and Adames worse. Improvements aplenty!
  17. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Narvaez traded. Cuts a bit in costs and he really tanked in the 2nd half.
  18. It was well documented that the Crew went hard after Reynolds. Not sure what that exactly means but the guy is a phenomenal talent. He’s projected to make $4.5 mil in year one of arby. 3 years after that as well. What would it take to get this guy? He’s had two monster years and then the down 2020. Intra division trades are always tricky as well. Pirates aren’t going to be competitive anytime soon so no need to hold on to him.
  19. Fire up the Jose Ramirez trade chatter. Guy is a 6.7 war guy. Has played 150 plus games in 4 of last 5 full seasons (129 in other). Two team options left at $13 and $11 million. This is a guy I’d trade the farm for. Instantly slots into the middle of the order.
  20. We will see how it plays out but I am doubtful that 10 million for a closer is in the budget for a team with a payroll of 95-110 million and lots of other guys getting big raises in 2022. I think they move him FWIW they paid Hoffman $8 mil in 2010, KRod $8 mil in 2008 and Gagne $10 mil in 2008. So $10 mil for Hader wouldn’t be so outlandish for our history. And he is light years better than these 3.
  21. As much as I love Ashby and his potential. Let’s get the guy some help throwing strikes consistently. He is a hit to erratic to count on at this point for high leverage situations.
  22. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27490845/how-brewers-star-christian-yelich-turned-mvp-body-issue-2019 Excuse the naked pictures in the article. But it’s interesting going back to 2019 interview. That Barry Bonds was a huge reason for his success and change. Maybe he needs to give him a call this off-season. That, and get rid of Andy As the hitting coach.
  23. Lots of question marks for the bullpen this coming year. Strickland, Suter, Box played a large role this year and are free agents. We are assuming Williams heals fine and is dominate again. I’m cautious with that seeing what happened to Yelich. Different injury and position yes, but throwing hand none the less. Hader really is the only one you know what you’ll get out of. Rest of the pen could be league min guys that balance out his larger salary. I think it was Plush who said it. But you don’t trade Hader if you’re serious about contending. He’s an elite closer. And any return for him will be underwhelming for his value to the team.
