  1. #Brewers in agreement with free-agent infielder Cory Spangenberg on one-year deal, pending physical, sources tell The Athletic. Spangenberg will earn $1.2M if in majors, $250K if in minors. There’s everyone’s second baseman.
  2. Wow! That’s a lot of coin!
  3. The AAV of these starting pitching are quite insane. Makes Burnes, woodruff, peralta all the more valuable imo.
  4. 1 year 11 million. Can earn 3 more million in incentives.
  5. Wow. Good deal for the Astros!
  6. Be interesting to see the numbers. Anything over 8 a year is too steep. Field continues to narrow for Realmuto...
  7. Another guy to think about it Guerra. He was solid out of the pen last year. Could be a valuable in house option. At the end of the day we have too many major league pitchers (Davies, Anderson types) that moves will need to be made. Last year we saw the value in players having options. I wonder if that will continue to be a strategy, or they overachieved and was necessarily the plan. Either way I’d love to see an infield of moose, Arcia, Murphy and Shaw. Aguilar would be traded away in some package. Ride out the Catching situation. Get kluber for Santana/ray types. Burnes goes on to win 14 games with a 3.2era next year. All will be well.
  8. I’d hardly call his 2/3rds of a season in the bullpen a waste. He was much needed and a valuable part of how and what they accomplished.
  9. Not everyone has to be this huge ops guy. There is something to be said for simply getting on base. Obviously you need some boopers. Not saying Gordon is the right fit but if he gets on base who cares if they are all singles. Need those people. Gordon doesn’t get on base. If you’re weak and fast, take a walk good god. He’s be valuable if he did get on base
  10. Gordon is arguably falling off from being an MLB-caliber player. He couldn't crack a .700 OPS last year against RHP even though that's his better matchup as noted. So you're basically signing Haniger to a 4 year, $50-60 million dollar deal (pending what Haniger gets in arby) and getting a replacement-level 2B/OF along with him that you are forced to put in the lineup. I get the idea but we aren't the team for that right now. Not with our surplus of OF already. Not everyone has to be this huge ops guy. There is something to be said for simply getting on base. Obviously you need some boopers. Not saying Gordon is the right fit but if he gets on base who cares if they are all singles. Need those people.

  12. Possible platoon guy in OF for braun and a lefty bat at first to pair with Aggie?
  13. Ken_Rosenthal Michael Brantley’s reps are telling clubs he is willing and able to play 1B for the first time as a major leaguer. No team is looking at Brantley full-time at 1B, but those interested in him are aware of his versatility. Brantley played 53 games at 1B in the minors in 2007-08. 1:42 PM · Dec 6, 2018
  14. Davies and Nottingham were exactly who I thought off too. I figured they would get much more in return. Arguably best 1st baseman in baseball.
  15. You mean it is possible to acquire a stud player in a trade without giving up your top stud prospects? I thought that wasn't possible? I mean, the Brewers don't have the prospects to make a deal like this! love this!
  16. Luke Weaver, Carson Kelly, Andy Young and a draft pick. Seems like a less than stellar return for AZ. Weaver was a -1 War pitcher last year.
  17. Bob Nightengale @BNightengale Paul Goldschmidt has been traded to the #STLCards. The deal is done.
  18. John Morosii is saying we have talked with Yankees about Gray.
  19. Could just be me but I think Burnes could get you similar production that Thor provides. So why trade that away for a more expensive/Health risk option? Huira + I could see. But still doesn’t intrigue me too much. I’d rather target one of Indians pitchers as we line up better as trade partners, imo.
  20. Looking back at the 2016 and 2017 payrolls of $63 million. Does that allow for larger than “normal” payrolls for us? Maybe this would allow or payroll to expand a bit and allow some wiggle room? I’m not sure how all that carries over from year to year. I’ve just seen a lot of payroll talk in other forms and thought I’d ask!
  21. Burnes + for 1 year of Mad Bum? Pass
  22. Cain had a near mvp level type production and we want to trade him? Not to mention any leadership he brought to the team. The drop off from Broxton to Cain is huge. As in, we may not make playoffs...ie 2017.
