  1. The biggest error in this game was Yost's choice of 2B!
  2. Ben, realizing he has Spivey behind him, decides to do it all himself. :-)
  3. Shall I repeat my problem with NOT having Hardy in the lineup? Put Hall in at 2B!
  4. Sheets had me a bit scared at first, but he's looking pretty good now.
  5. Besides Sheets, I'm foreseeing a good game from Lee and Moeller. Though, I must ask, what IS a good game from Moeller? HBP? :-)
  6. Where's Hardy? If I'm Ben, I want the most sure-handed glove in my infield in the lineup. Let Hall and Spivey battle over the 2B spot, but Hardy should get this start. Maybe they're saving him for a double-switch when Ben faints after the second inning. SO KIDDING! Here's hoping for a repeat of the MIL v. ATL game last year... Probably have my hopes set a bit high but that's what an ace in the hole does...makes me giddy with hope.
  7. I'm so excited about tonight's game. I'm a fan of Oswalt, if simply because he has done quite well against the Brewers (much like I am a fan of Moss). But here's hoping tonight's game goes well for the Brewers and continue their streak of wins. Perhaps...three spot in the first. GO BREW!
  8. I would say that Maybin rates better than McCutchen. He has unbelievable power for a CF prospect (enough so that he could also play RF, which brings us to his arm, very plus). He has put up a very good average this year, albeit against high schoolers. And he has a lot of speed, to boot. What I found most appealling about him is that, supposedly, Upton has better speed, but Maybin has stolen more bases. Definitely looking to be a top prospect for years to come.
  9. If Gordon were to fall, I would tend to believe that the Nats would still go with Zimmerman. The Nats are owned by the MLB and, thus, probably don't have the money to give him the type of contract that he'd be wanting. If Gordon gets past the Royals, which could only be over the money Gordon would want, then the Nats are guaranteed not to pony up the money. It would have to be approved by the MLB Owners' Assoc. and they are not likely to approve such a deal. The Mariners are the wildcard, and the only justification for them not taking him seems to be Adrian Beltre and Gordon's demand for a guaranteed MLB contract. But Beltre isn't lighting the world on fire and you can't draft for necessity, as so many draft pundits have esposed. In the end, however, it would be a public relations nightmare if the Royals passed on Gordon, considering the lowly state of their team. They need to give their fans the idea that they are actually attempting to raise the level of their success.
  10. Carlos REALLY didn't look like he was going full force. Maybe he should have been DHed today.
  11. I would rate them... Alex Gordon (great combination of experience and production) Justin Upton (his name, I think, gets his value inflated and there's no guarantee he will be a SS, which hurts his stock) Cameron Maybin (I think he will be better than Upton, but probably won't move as fast as the phenom) Jeff Clement (Ultimate power, premium position upgrade, what's not to like?) Ryan Zimmerman (Premium defense, unquestioned contact skills, and showing improving power. But I do wonder if he has premium power for a premium power position) And, as Colby opined, you have Tulo, Hochevar, and Pelfrey. Stephen Drew, though, could be an outside possibility. I like that he joined the Independent Leagues to keep in playing shape and not let the time off affect his maturation. He looks to be the most likely of the 3 re-entrants (well Townsend is barred from signing with Baltimore, so he doesn't technically count) to sign with his team prior to this draft. And as was mentioned in Baseball America today, Scott Boras is probably waiting until the last moment to extract every last dollar. But it also looks as if Stephen Drew has the most to gain by re-entering the draft (ie, he could basically name his price and wait for NY or TEX to match it).
  12. I would imagine they'd jump at Tulo! He's not a total reach, as he's considered top 5, and he looks to be able to move fast, which is what the Royals really need in their system right now. He also looks to be a fairly easy sign, at least as the #2 pick. Also, are Teahan or Butler projected to be better than Alex Gordon? If not Tulo, I'd imagine they'd go with Gordon, move Butler across the diamond, which is what they are already looking to do, and move one of the others when the two force the Royals' hand.
  13. Well Brady had a good game. Jenkins looks to be a bit healthier, but that isn't saying much. Carlos's bat finally looks like it has some juice in it, as well as his legs. But the bench and the bullpen didn't keep up their end of the bargain. And so the streak continues. Here's hoping the geriatrics in San Francisco prove to be a more worthy adversary, as we've looked a bit sub-par thus far.
  14. I spoke too soon... DID YOU SEE THAT! Go Brady!
  15. Oh. "And he hasn't been scored on this year."
  16. I don't like this guy. Arguably better than Gagne... Yeah, we'll make a comeback!
  17. So....UNC's Miller looks good for that pick, right?
  18. Seriously, why can't these bats just begin to speak for themselves?
  19. Is it quiet in here or is it just me?
  20. YOU DO NO LET IT GO!!! Even if it is the pitcher, and Andy Pettitte at that, you still take the out. I mean Willy Taveras could probably STEAL home.
  21. Oh yeah, Spivey doesn't hit HR's, only the K's. Better luck with the meat of the order...next inning.
  22. Spivey has spunk. I could see a tie game in the near future...
  23. A hand-cuffed Hardy can turn a good double play. I do like the Rook!
  24. Of course, I remember when our own Wes Helms was a well-thought of farmhand in the Braves system. Of course, the prior affiliation is the only similarity between the two, I can guarantee you.
