  1. Isn't he scheduled for postseason commentary? We already have one star of the postseason on our roster, as long as he isn't doing anti-cloning ads...
  2. I should probably bring this up in the Adam Dunn thread, but I found this interesting because it answered a question here...Adam Dunn's Option Scrolling down, you see that Adam Dunn gets a no-trade clause (until June 15th) if his option is picked up. Something that throws a big wrench into any trade talks. As Bill Simmons would say, Good Times.
  3. Dunn's option does void with a trade. My question about this matter, which no one can seem to answer, is if he is traded this offseason, is it still voided?
  4. To be fair, one of his two starts at the ML-level was of the no-hit variety. When was the last time a 21 year-old rookie threw a no-hitter? I know he didn't finish what he started but in his second start? As I said earlier, I would imagine the only reason he is available is to supplement the inferred loss of A-Rod this off-season. And I sincerely doubt Jenkins would be compensation enough (as they would probably see it as a salary dump on our part). If any of our OFers are going to net us Hughes, it would be Hart, though I would love to take on Abreu and Hughes for Hart and a handful of cash.
  5. I would imagine, with Gagne's contract that has performance incentives, he would only go to a team that would guarantee him a chance to close, or, at the bare minimum, be the exclusive set-up guy. Perhaps, we could go T-Bow/Gross/Parra, but that seems like quite the mortgage on next year and beyond (excluding the Southern Belle) for a run at the pennant this year, especially given Gagne's history of injury.
  6. But they also have Joba Chamberlain and Ian Kennedy (a personal fave) whipping through the minors, putting pressure on the current geriatrics in their rotation. I, personally, think that the Moose will be their next year, and Pettitte would be crazy to turn down his player option. Beyond that, they also have money tied up in Igawa and I could see them again attempting to get Clemens to pitch for them, perhaps even beginning the year with his crony, Andy, in the rotation. Unfortunately, I would think that the one position they would trade Hughes for is a hot sacker, to alleviate the concerns associated with losing the top paid position player in the majors. And, to be honest, while a trade for Braun would seem to be quite fair for both sides, I am going to take the Hebrew Hammer 8 days a week.
  7. And the Red Sox have built their lead with how many lefties in their rotation?
  8. If we make the playoffs and Braun keeps up these numbers, it's a foregone conclusion he will get the nod over Tulo and Pence. When Scotty Po lost out to the D-Train, the major sticking point was the fact that D-Train did it for a contender that won the WS.
  9. Taylor Tankersley??? Young, cheap, and a southpaw. Need I say more?
  10. Isn't this what sapped Casey Kotchman of his prospect-status last year, though that was at the ML level. Why wouldn't they just shut him down for a coupel weeks before he gets bumped to Huntsville, in opes of keeping him fresh for a late season bullpen call-up?
  11. What about Vargas to the Rockies for Manny Corpas or Ubaldo Jimenez (though he's more of a pipedream)? He knows their division and his sinker would play well at Coors, though I don't have his numbers at Coors. Next year, they could challenge with Vargas holding up the backend instead of Rodrigo Lopez.
  12. I seriously suggested awhile ago that we should attempt to trade Jr. Gwynny for Taylor Tankersley, as he would be a great late inning lefty flamethrower, and could figure into our closer mix next year, as he was anointed the Fish's closer before being put on the DL to begin the year.
  13. Yo is going to the 'pen to pitch for a few weeks, limiting his innings, and allowing Bush to outpitch every starter not named Ben, allowing the Brews to trade Vargas and Mench for Charlie Haeger (To keep Nashville's fans amused) and Matt Thronton (because we need a gassing lefty while we await Parra's ascent-kind of funny how one game instantly bumps you up a level in status, right, Markie B?)
  14. Thank U!!! Give it a week and his buddy, Corey Brewer, will be gracing Brewer nation with his mug as well.
  15. What about Jon Lester? The lefty is a total stud and his name recognition, alone, would help the ChiSox. Maybe even a Coco Crisp or Wily Mo token throw-in. But Braun or Gallardo? Who does Williams think he is, Keith Hernandez?
  16. Why does no one ever bring up the Bartolo Colon trade? I know the Expos almost ceased to exist but they gutted their sysytem for a one year rental.
  17. What exactly does everyone think the price would eb for the Brewers, besides $3mil approx.?
  18. Bush is to the starters what Turnbow is to the bullpen...
  19. Inman, in my eyes, is the epitome of untouchable. Given his perceived value vs. the value of Yo, I would be more inclined to trade Yo (and please don't read that as I want to trade our young phenom). Also, Angel Salome is not to be touched at present, given what his ultimate ceiling is, though he, like Jeffress, is far from the ultimate ends of that potential. But I could be talked into trading Ford or Cain... Brantley could become Dave Roberts or Kenny Lofton. But we have excess young outfielders, so even LaPorta (PTBNL) could be trade bait.
  20. I said it before and I'll say it again, we need a young stud catcher...who plays for the Braves right now. I don't carwe which one, though my prefetrence is for a silver slugger.
  21. Alex Sanchez and Scotty Po... Crappy centerfielders whose sole tool is speed... I'm just glad we passed that kidney stone-like period years ago. No more calcification of our lineup please.
  22. Well the Royals' bullpen is gassed, and Jorge faced one batter (5 pitches), Dave Bush-style, against the Cards, serving up a tomato. My hope is they might bump everyone up a start and send Jorge on Sunday against our own Fernando Valenzuela-hopeful. Blind hope, I know, but it would be fanciful to see two of the better Mexican hurlers square off, with the United States and Mexico going at it in the Gold Cup.
  23. Can't you just give them two tickets and get two bobbles? My friend and I just had the lady scan two and tell the bobble-giver that we had done such, and both now have two Sutton bobbles each (well I gave one of mine to my pop, since he's a lifelong Dodgy Fellow-follower...and it is ever so sweet to witness the look on his face everytime he sees the young curly-haired hurler donning the Brew Crew Stud-duds.
  24. I was slightly surprised that Angel Salome didn't get a call, given the lack of talent in the minors at catcher.
  25. I keep imagining Matt Thornton, minus a tick or two, with Manny Parra, though I hope we are able to take advantage of the young hurler, as opposed to Matt's trail to the bigs.
