  1. At first I was very nervous about it but honestly Radcliffe and Hogg made good points on the podcast yesterday. The Dodgers were an emotional hurdle that this team cleared, not to mention just clearing the hurdle of getting to the World Series. If they had to play a day or two later in Game 1, that could be trouble. But they have a full week to soak it in then refocus and prep for the last series of the year. I think that’s very true. Cleveland or Tampa won’t have that luxury, especially if it goes 7.
  2. I am quite nervous about the WS. I can’t even put my finger on why. Maybe it’s just PTSD as a fan but getting this close and losing would be as crushing a loss as a fan as I can remember, and there’s been a lot between the Packers, Brewers and Badgers. Looking for all the optimism I can going into this series. Can’t stop thinking about it!
  3. We’re going to be favored regardless but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about the extended time off…. Cant get this close and not finish the job.
  4. I’ll be there. Not expecting a lot to cheer about but will be pleasantly surprised if there is. I alone know 40-50 people going to this game to cheer on the Crew. Should be a home away from home!
  5. Like everyone else - very cautiously optimistic but preparing for disaster.
  6. I’ve never been a “fire this guy” person but someone has to take the fall for this at some point. I don’t know if I’ve ever watched a major league team be so unbelievable incapable of anything productive at the plate for this long of a stretch.
  7. I am pretty pessimistic. Stearns's refusal to get this team a top of the line starter is going to continue to weigh them down among other things. The problem is, I don't see a lot of realistic impact arms available on the FA market this winter and the farm system is so depleted that I don't know how he gets an impact player via trade either. I think next year is going to be a rough one as well.
  8. This is the first time I’m really truly questioning the decision making of Stearns. Especially if they make Pomeranz a starter
  9. I was really hopeful that this team could go on a run and add a few valuable pieces, but at this point I just don't see how Stearns can buy. Although if you get to the playoffs anything can happen, I have a hard time seeing this team get much of anywhere. I don't think he'll sell though and I don't think standing pat is the right move either. It's tough. What a deflating loss
  10. You don't need to be good enough to beat those teams on a consistent basis throughout the year. You have to be good enough to beat those teams for one 7 games stretch of games.
  11. I think assuming we know anything about what the Mets are going to do is stretching it, me included. I will say I think you may be giving the Mets too much credit there in terms of potential creativity and intelligence.
  12. I thought this same thing. Everyone talks constantly about prospect pools and rightfully so but blissfully ignores recently graduated from the farm or in the farm with major league experience. Call me crazy but I would include Burnes, Peralta, + in an offer
  13. I agree that getting Yelich was a nice addition... See “over the last 12 months”
  14. I agree with this. But loading up on a bullpen and not getting a starter to have multiple “bullpen games” then allowing DJ to leave could be considered trying to outsmart everyone. Again - everyone seems to be taking this opinion as me not liking Stearns. I do. He knows infinitely more about baseball than I ever will but that doesn’t make him perfect either
  15. The problem is that although I love Stearns, he’s backed himself into a corner over the last 12 months. He’s refused time and time again to go out and get the starting rotation help that everybody has been able to see is so desperately needed. He’s made additions that while nice, maybe haven’t been the most pressing and he’s given up good prospects to do it, therefore depleting the farm and now making it hard to get the frontline starter he so desperately needs. By constantly trying to be 3 steps ahead of the curve in how to approach the game, he’s now behind it trying to get a starting pitcher. Every other GM knows that too. It’s an uphill battle now. I still like the guy and think he’s brilliant. I just think in this case he’s outsmarted himself and he may have to resort to trying to catch lighting in a bottle.
  16. Perhaps a spot start then moving to the bullpen to make way for another acquisition?
  17. I trade away whatever I need to to give myself a chance while I’m paying Yelich pennies.
  18. Am I crazy for adding the recent reports together as a 2+2 scenario? Rosenthal reports earlier yesterday that the Brewers are looking to be creative in adding pitching and willing to deal Moose or Grandal if need be. Later yesterday, reports surface that the Mets are looking for major league talent that can help them win now for Syndergaard? Seems like not a lot of contending teams will want or be in a position to subtract from the major league roster like we apparently are... Am I missing something?
  19. Stroman to the Mets per Morosi. How bad teams stay bad
  20. Honestly if the choices are sell or trade Hiura then I am selling 10/10 times
  21. I go back and forth. On one hand I don't see how DS can look at this team and want to buy, but on the other hand I think you have to continue to go for it while you have Yelich or at least have him for pennies of what he's worth. If they decide to buy I hope they really buy, not just a soft buy.
  22. I just don't see how DS can see a game like tonight and think "yes, I want to give up prospects to make deals and go for it this year" I just don't think they're very good.
