  1. I'm encouraged by the fact that as hot as the Cardinals are right now, they're still only a half game up on Milwaukee. It could be so much worse. They're going to cool off and they're going to cool off soon. Good start would be them and Colorado beating up one another this next series
  2. Hockey (NHL) doesn't have ties and hasn't for quite some time.
  3. This loss is far worse, for me, than the 21-5 loss to the Dodgers
  4. Teams have thuds of games. This definitely qualifies as one of those. I think this team was well aware that it would be a good road trip even with a loss, and I think they were genuinely ready to get home. Not saying that's a good excuse, but I do think it played a role. If this were football, I would consider it a "throw the tape in the garbage and never look at it again" game. At the end of the day its a 5-3 road trip and a series split with a really good team. I'll take that, even if one of the losses was 21-5.
  5. I don't know how it's gonna work but I know this lineup should be a ***** for opposing pitchers no matter who is on the mound
  6. I think I heavily agree with this. I have a hunch Stearns and the Reds have a contingency deal agreed to ... "if we don't get anyone else by the deadline ... we'll send you A & B for Harvey". Also, to the next poster who said something about Sonny Gray ... I think I'm on board if that can happen. Reunite him with Derek Johnson and let him lead the charge. Add me to that. I think Sonny would benefit greatly from being in Milwaukee, I really do
  7. Trade deadlines are often like this. Visions of grander and nothing. lol. I think it could ultimately be this today. It was like this after Yelich/Cain day. Everyone expected, was certain about additional movement, was certain about another pitcher, but they rolled with who they have. Now we have Davies nearing a return, no room for Woodruff, our best starting pitching prospect is in the pen, and yet people still will be shocked if we don't add another pitcher. Why? I think you’re maybe overestimating how soon Davies will be ready
  8. Stearns doesn’t do a thing. Not really bold, I guess
  9. A nice win! Guarantees a .500 road trip although that would be severely disappointing at this point.. Get this team a pitcher!!!
  10. Yeah because so many NL teams have no holes on the team. Nobody says this is a perfect team, it is not a perfect team, it doesn't need to be a perfect team, no team it is directly completing against is anywhere close to a perfect team. This.
  11. I honestly believe Stearns is gonna pull off a surprise move. I will say he goes and gets Stroman
  12. Morosi says talks ongoing between Milwaukee and Cincinnati
  13. I don’t even know what to think about Arcia at this point. Nothing has changed, I don’t care how he did at AAA
  14. On the surface, you're right, but if one or two other things go the Brewers way in the NLCS, there's a good chance they win the World Series.
  15. I drool at the thought of what Derek Johnson could potentially unleash in Chris Archer
  16. Personally I want the Yankees to get Happ because he's not the guy I want to see Milwaukee get. He's old, he's a rental and he's not an upgrade over what we currently have IMO
  17. At the end of the day, and I am sure this has been mentioned, you in theory have Peralta, Burnes, Nelson, Davies, Guerra, Chacin, and Anderson going into spring next year. Unless you plan on having a 7 man rotation or keeping Burnes in the pen (which they said they weren't gonna do) it makes a ton of sense to trade one of the kids in a deal to get a pitcher of deGrom's caliber. Not necessarily as the main piece, but a piece
  18. This all could not have come at a worse possible time for the Brewers IMO
  19. Sources: The Orioles have structure of a deal in place, and are going through the medicals/paperwork portion of the transaction. Dodgers have been very invested in their pursuit of Machado, as have the Phillies and other teams, but this in not finished yet. Buster Olney 5 minutes ago
  20. This seems like a classic case of Baltimore leaking stuff to get last minute increases on the offer before they accept one
  21. Is it a pretty safe assumption that Kershaw is pitching on Friday?
  22. I want to believe this so badly it hurts but I still have gauze on the burns that High Heat left me with
  23. This may be covered somewhere and if it has to be merged with the Machado topic, so be it. Seemed like it deserved its own thread though. IF they miss out on Machado, what is a realistic play? It doesn't seem like you get this involved for someone of that caliber only to stand pat if you don't get him. Does the focus switch to pitching? Is it someone like Dozier or Escobar? Is there a name nobody is talking about that's a possibility. I am genuinely curious. Also, working the night shift at work tonight and I have postseason/final week highlights from 2008 and 2011 going on my phone non-stop...
  24. I have gone back and forth on whether or not I want Machado for a number of reasons that have been talked about to death at this point. I want him. I want him badly. It has nothing to do with how the offense has looked for the last week. The offense is gonna come around. They're too talented not to. Instead, it has everything to do with having a team that we all believe can get to and win a WS. Does Machado do that alone? No, probably not. But he gets us a hell of a lot closer than we'd be without him. Players of this caliber rarely come available at any time, even as rentals. When you have a really good team in place and the prospect capital to get a deal done, you do it. Ask questions later. There's more than enough in the system to absorb trading for a guy like this. We all want to see a postseason run more than anything. This would make that a lot more likely and a lot more fun to watch. Go get Machado after the ASG, play it out for a few weeks and make your next move from there. It's time.
  25. If Phillips is in the offer I sure wouldn’t mind watching him go 4/5 with a homer and a double today. I mean, even if he isn’t in the offer I would like that though...
