  1. He never signed that contract extension, right?
  2. Knock of two weeks of preseason games? I’d be fine with that. One downside would be less game tape evaluations of players that are trying to make the roster. Maybe teams would do a closed scrimmage against other teams for that? Outside the box thinking would be to add some time to one of the preseason games to get some more film but I don’t think that would fly.
  3. Weren’t we comparing the NL Central and NL West? You're the one who brought up the AL Central and West. And then you started talking about how many times the Brewers played certain teams when we were talking about divisions.
  4. Looked like he just threw/pulled the lineman down? Unless it wasn’t actually on Z. Smith not sure how that was defensive holding.
  5. The NL West also got to play the AL West that had one winning team - while we played the AL Central that had 3 of the top 5 teams in the AL. Shouldn’t that factor is or does it not count in your comparison? https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other You tell me. Surprised that all the Central teams are at the bottom but I’m also not sure what the difference is between that one and this one their site too. https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/ranking/season-sos-by-other Still not a ringing endorsement of the Central but it is more spread out. Also isn’t surprising that playing two of the best teams (Dodgers and Padres) would give the rest of the NL West teams strong SOS.
  6. We played the Twins, White Sox and Indians 13 times but also got to play the second worst team in the AL 4 times and another bottom 5 teams 3 times. It's still not a comparison. Weren’t we comparing the NL Central and NL West?
  7. "Not even a comparison" Well obviously, if their third place team was almost as good as the mighty Reds (or even the Brewers!) Of course it's not a comparison. The Brewers aren't playing the two best teams in the NL for a third of their schedule. I don't know why it's so hard for you to admit. The NL West also got to play the AL West that had one winning team - while we played the AL Central that had 3 of the top 5 teams in the AL. Shouldn’t that factor is or does it not count in your comparison?
  8. Regarding the bolded. Really? You are going to make definitive statements about how “it’s pretty clear he’s made a lot of what turned out to be bad moves” but refuse to actually go into detail about those moves? If there are so many as you say, it should be pretty easy to come up with something to back up your statement. If you think I'm refusing to list any bad moves he's made you should re-read what you quoted. It's not worth my time to argue, if you can't objectively look back and analyze things without emotion it's really not worth my time. Peace. Where did I say you refused to list “any” bad moves. You listed a couple and then essentially said you didn’t want to discuss all of the bad moves/players he got nothing for after claiming he’s made lots of bad moves. If it is so pervasive, it should have been pretty easy for you to show us these bad moves he made to expand on your point to further discussion as somebody else even listed his trades. Having a dissenting opinion about Stearns or saying he has “a lot” of bad moves doesn’t make you more objective than somebody or that you’ve taken your emotions out of your analysis of the trades/moves.
  9. Well the Aguilar trade is brought up because that's how we got Faria. Santana was an example of a good trade at a bad time. The Villar trade made us worse short term and long, as did the Davis trade. The Grisham/Davies trade was a short term disaster, well see how it shakes out long term. My initial statement wasn't just what you quoted by the way, you left off a few words so you could have an easier argument. I'm not going to rehash every trade and every guy he's cut loose for nothing (even though they had value the previous year, or immediately provided value to someone else, but it's pretty clear he's made a lot of what turned out to be bad moves. He's made lots of good ones as well, and we're still technically in the race this year, but it's silly to pretend everything he touches turns to gold. Regarding the bolded. Really? You are going to make definitive statements about how “it’s pretty clear he’s made a lot of what turned out to be bad moves” but refuse to actually go into detail about those moves? If there are so many as you say, it should be pretty easy to come up with something to back up your statement.
  10. What is the tie-breaker after head to head? I believe the Reds are currently up 4-3 on the season series - so if we take 2 out of 3 this week we’d be tied on the year.
  11. I would have benched Watkins. I have owned him every year and he never fails to disappoint. Good news for me... I benched Watkins. Bad news for me, my team will still lose.
  12. I need to choose 3 out of these to start: DJ Moore DJ Chark Sammy Watkins Marvin Jones Jr I have Mahomes so I was tempted to start Watkins.
  13. But it was a nothing for nothing trade for the two teams involved. The Brewers and the Rays have nothing to show for the trade just a year later and it’s not like Aguilar or Faria made an impact on either team last year either. Aguilar, when account for the fact that he would have likely been non-tendered after last year and wouldn’t have been Brewers property, doing “well” this year has little impact on how we should judge the Brewers/Rays trade. In fact holding up his current “success” as you did, to the tune of .1 WAR right now, as an organizational failure on the Brewers seems misguided to me. I don’t see anybody praising this trade or calling it a success for Stearns. You seem to want to view it as a negative for him while most are saying it was neutral as they didn’t give up much and the got back pretty much nothing in return - thats it.
  14. I think it definitely should factor in to the type of return we got for him. Both organizations viewed him as replaceable, so obviously he didn’t have too much value. What more were you expecting for a player that put up a .694 OPS over half a season? Yes he was coming off of a really good year (and a very nice two year run overall) but he didn’t have a long track record of success so he wasn’t bringing back something you should expect to be of great value (and it wasn’t). It was a trade of two players that each organization could no longer use at that time and both are now gone from their respective teams. Aguilar did more in Tampa than Faria did in Milwaukee but what he is doing this year with a different organization should have little impact on how that trade is perceived. Both teams essentially got very little out of the trade and each will get nothing going forward - that is how the trade should be judged as essentially nothing for nothing. Regarding his “unlocked potential” that the Brewers failed to unlock (did Tampa also fail to unlock it or does that not matter?), he now has an .817 OPS (baseball-reference didn’t have it updated when I looked earlier) thru essentially a quarter of a regular season... not sure that is an “organizational failure... (to) unlock the potential that we now know was still within him?” when talking about a 1B.
  15. Well did take the lead against them twice last year... just happened to be with 0:00 on the clock both times. Wonder if that has happened before in NFL history? What is embarrassing is losing 4 straight to them in 17/18 and none of the games were really that close.
  16. Of course they didn’t release Peralta but the Rays did DFA Aguilar which is why I don’t feel your comparison to the Lind trade was accurate as how you were using it. It truly was a nothing for nothing trade as a year later Faria and Aguilar are both not with the organization that traded for them. The fact that Aguilar is with another organization and having some modest success (.805 OPS thru only 151 ABs) doesn’t change that neither team got “nothing” from the trade. Nobody is claiming the trade went well. There is no guarantee that Aguilar would even be on the team now based on his time last year nor that he’d have the modest success with us that he’s had with the Marlins.
  17. Fixed that sentence for you. If the Brewers had released Peralta and he’s succeeding as a player for the Rockies - nobody here would be calling the Lind trade a success.
  18. He was fired as the scrubs assistant hitting coach. If this guy doesn't get fired there is absolutely no accountability whatsoever in this organization. I don't know who should replace Haines but I am fairly certain the results won't be any worse. Once again, why the need to make up that Haines was fired by the Cubs? It just isn’t true.
  19. I didn’t pick Rodgers this year as my #2 as whenever I have him on my team he doesn’t play up to his standards... so you’re welcome everybody.
  20. We played Yuniesky Betancourt at 1B 68 times in 2013 and he had a .595 OPS that year.
  21. Not that I expect a response but this is flat out wrong. While your negativity is overboard, it can at least be ignored - no reason to make things up though.
  22. He got what he could for Aguilar....unless you know of better offers that he turned down?..he had no options left and was slumping so bad that he wasn’t playing for us anymore. He was designated for assignment by Tampa after the season ...nobody thought he was worth trading for so he ended up going to the Marlins on waivers. But he has 20(!) RBI’s this year. Briggs also brought up Thames being released by Stearns. His OPS is actually worse than Smoak’s this year.
  23. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. It's practically a no win situation. He swings and jacks a bomb, he's breaking a rule. He stands with the bat on his shoulder and gets walked, same deal. Maybe the freaking pitcher should be held accountable for allowing it to happen in the first place. I’m not saying I agree with it, but isn’t the issue that he swung 3-0 and not that he swung in general? If he takes the 3-0 pitch and jacks a granny on 3-1, nothing would have been said.
  24. You are going to have to explain this one to me better.... We actually sign a MVP super star in his prime for a long term contract and then he what, tanks? That is what we are known for here in Milwaukee? Yeah, that happens here all the time. More like never. He’s saying it would be the luck of our franchise to sign a superstar to a huge contract and then have him tank. Not that it happens frequently.
