  1. So at the price Minnesota just paid would we be upset with a similar price for the Packers to move up?
  2. My only reasoning is with 6 QBs taken there's some top 10 talent out there, getting a guy that maybe, probably shouldn't still be there has to be tempting. But maybe the move is standing pat or moving down too.
  3. Question is, does Gute start to get tempted to move up?
  4. You get a QB, you get a QB, you get a QB, you get a QB, you get a QB, you get a QB... Oprah be busy tonight.
  5. Love seeing Minnesota having to trade up one spot for their guy.
  6. Lol I love how when Goodell got to the mic and got booed he said, "C'mon!" He was so annoyed. Funny stuff.
  7. My extremely uneducated prediction is if DeJean is available when the Packers pick at 25 comes up, they don't take him. It feels like Gute goes counter to predictions when things happen for real. It's not even like DeJean is the clear cut favorite or anything either, there's so many ways they could go. But that's just my feeling.
  8. I don't get the smile from Chapman after giving up that dinger. Dude, blowing a game ain't funny. Pirates fans can't feel too great about that.
  9. Semantics. There's plenty of pessimism and that's what I'm pushing back against. If panicking isn't a word that fits extrapolate a word that does and move along.
  10. Did I quote you? No. You're taking offense at something I didn't accuse you of.
  11. This Contreras kid might just have a future in this league.
  12. I'm not sure why anybody thinks Black is going to be any less susceptible to the offensive struggles the other young guys have had to deal with.
  13. Sure, but in recent history the Brewers have a decent track record of taking guys off the scrap heap and turning them into solid contributors. But the glass remains half empty to most people complaining about bullpen usage. Of course we don't know the future and there are no guarantees. I would rather spend my time trusting that there will be options available if and when the time comes for needing options and feeling reasonably confident that those options will work out.
  14. I know Jean-Claude Van Damme is in favor of a split today.
  15. RE: The failed double steal and Murphy doubling down on saying expect more. At worst he has planted the idea in the minds of opposing managers. Teams and players will have this in mind with runners on 1st and 3rd even more than usual. If it creates hesitation in decision making on straight steals of 2nd every little bit helps, yeah? I didn't like the double steal last night and the execution by Sal was awful. Doesn't mean they shouldn't do it again. I'd prefer more straight stealing with Contreras at bat to stay out of the double play. If the runner at 3rd is going to try going home he needs to do better than Sal did last night.
  16. Why are people assuming that the bullpen as currently constructed is going to be the same the whole season? If guys get "burned out" or become less effective due to perceived overuse then they bring in more arms. Call ups from the minors, free agency, trades. I see a lot of griping but you have to believe the organization has a plan. Murphy may be "new" but the guys in the front office are not. Maybe we can wait until July or August to start panicking about running through pitchers instead of April.
  17. We have today and tomorrow vs. the Pirates to try to split the series.
  18. So if fans want a bobblehead they pay a $20 to $30 premium? Honestly that seems like a fair deal. How much do bobbleheads typically go for on ebay? If it's more reasonable than $30 just buy them there and go to a game where the tickets are cheaper. If they're selling for more than $30 (which I suspect they do) the fan is getting good value.
  19. He only had 3 assists. If the traps and double teaming worked in the 2nd half then expect that to become their strategy until he proves it doesn't work. 0 points suggests it works.
  20. Brewers have been pretty firm on Yelich playing OF rather than being a DH so if he's healthy that's where I'd expect he continues playing. If his back is healthy enough to swing a bat and run the bases it's healthy enough to play OF.
  21. Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch the game but it concerns me that Dame was shut down in the 2nd half. I don't know if he spent all his energy in the first half or if Indiana just figured out how to stop him. 7 game series, they're going to need Dame for all four quarters. It doesn't do much good if Indiana can just neutralize Dame at will. Indiana had a bad night shooting, that's not going to happen every night. That said, watching the highlights, that looked fun.
  22. The Burnes trade isn't even complete yet. Still have a high draft pick to make.
  23. I feel like the league had gotten past the strict adherence to using L/R/L/R stuff but I guess not. It feels a bit unnecessary with this roster.
