  1. With a lot of games against the NL central coming up... no.
  2. OK, this was moderately funny from the cards forum... "If Betancourt hits a walk-off, I expect every Brewers fan who was here earlier today to come apologize and admit that yes, the Brewers are cheating."
  3. So do we cheer for Fielder to get fewer RBIs?
  4. Mine was actually with Joe Crawford, who wasn't on the roster but was the video coordinator and was always in uniform during batting practice. It was at Maryville during spring training and me and a friend were in the lawn seats shagging some batting practice. There is a guy there with a baby in a stroller standing near the wall that was also trying to get balls. Anyways, there is a shot that was heading to my right and I started going after it, but I saw the stroller and stopped because I didn't want to run over a baby. To my horror, the ball is heading right at the stroller. The guy with the stroller completely misjudged the ball and was running backwards away from the stroller (ended up about 15 feet away from the baby). I went into a state of shock because this ball was going strait for the baby. Luckily the ball hits the top of the fence and bounces right over the baby (two inches higher and the baby would have been hit directly). Meanwhile, the dad is running after the ball as it came pretty close to him after the bounce. He ended up not getting it, but Joe Crawford grabs a ball, throws it to the guy, and yells at him something like, "Here's your damn ball, now get out of here." The guy leaves with the stroller and Joe proceeds to talk with us about how the guy was an idiot and almost got the baby killed. Also, not with a player per se, but on Memorial day in 2006 I was at a game with my dad and brother in Pittsburgh. The ticket vender was awesome because they were giving away two tickets per military ID that day, but when I showed him mine he gave us three tickets for free that were first row along the first base side. Then, during the game, I forgot who was doing the sideline reporting, but he comes over and interviews me for about 5 minutes during the second inning. I remember Doug Davis was getting destroyed during the interview and in the in game thread here everyone was complaining that the interview with me was causing the bad luck (tongue in cheek obviously). Also, during that same road trip, before a game in Philadelphia Matt Wise comes up to me and my brother during batting practice (we were along the outfield wall) and throws us a ball saying how wearing a Brewers jersey in the bleachers at Philly takes guts and we deserve the ball. All of these stories are 2006 where I managed to go to 29 games (most of them on the road) and the Brewers went 3-26 in those games. I think I kept them out of the playoffs single handedly.
  5. Sorry, but Matt Kemp is the leader. More home runs, more runs, same RBIs, lower OPS, but very close.
  6. Almost everyone is in agreement that the longer we wait, the more the price goes up. Isn't it obvious that we shouldn't wait that long?
  7. If it's the Brewers, yes it is an overpay. It's the Red Sox though. Does it make their team better for the next 4 years? Yes.
  8. It was only 18 strikeouts, but yes I agree; that was an epic game. Oops. Don't know what I was thinking.
  9. I fear if we don't extend Fielder then we won't be in the Twins league as far as wins and postseason appearances, IMO.
  10. I think Ben Sheets 20K game should have made the top moments list.
  11. It's up but not on the site linked earlier. Can't link directly to it, but it's the third video on the bottom. http://mlbnetwork.mlb.com...7203595&topic_id=8187248
  12. Just from personal experience, I'd say I'm pretty sure that warming up reduces the risk to injury. I destroyed my shoulder the one time I decided to throw a few fastballs without warming up and the pain lasted the better part of 5 years.
  13. That is a long and big contract for a injury prone position (and player) but I agree with everyone else here that I'm glad for the Twins. Sometimes the cost can be high, but the knowledge and peace of mind provided for a team knowing that their franchise and keystone player will be around for the better part of a decade is very nice to have. I'd say I'd be nervous but mostly comfortable with Fielder getting a contract similar to this. Knowing that we'd have Braun and Fielder together for a long time is some good peace of mind. Edit: Sentence fragment
  14. Why is all-star in quotes? Are they trying to go for sarcasm?
  15. I'd consider Kemp, Uggla, Tulo, Werth, Crawford, and Figgins superstars. Ellsbury, Wainwright, Sandoval, and Cameron are boarderline. McCutchen, Zobrist, and Nolasco aren't only because of their limited time in the league. I'd agree that Choo, Jones, Branyan, Slowey, DeJesus, Milledge, Anderson, Baker, Ohlendorf, Guitierrez, Swisher, Branyan, Johnson, and Napoli are good picks for this category. Just IMO though, so I'm probably wrong.
  16. I think a few have already listed what I would consider superstars, but that might be that the first person I thought of for this was Chad Moeller.
  17. I like that he signed a one day contract with the Red Sox so he could retire as one of them. Firstly because it's a classy move, and secondly because for Brewer fans it is a little "screw you" to the Cubs.
  18. I find it amazing that he claims he was thrown out on opening day only because it was him arguing, even though he was in the umps face over a balls and strikes argument. I've never seen a player get in the face of the ump over balls and strikes and not get run up. If it was something else, I might understand, but balls and strikes... I thought that was pretty black and white (uhh...but not in a racial way... wow, I walked into that one).
  19. JL: It depends on the guy. I’ve had guys who love it when I go out there and get on their butt; they love it when I go out there and get into it with them and kind of jack them up. I’ve also had guys where you’ve got to pet them. You have to massage them. You have to go, "Hey buddy, you’re OK. You’re going to be all right." There are a lot of different personalities, so you have to watch and pay attention. You don’t want to go out there and jack up a guy who is kind of a softy. lol wut?
  20. How about the Hebrew Ham Sandwich (and, yes, I realize the irony)
