  1. For whatever reason, he’s mostly been used in single-inning appearances, though he’s had three multi-inning appearances between SF and Milwaukee. I’d imagine a lot goes into that decision, between scouting, analytics, and what the coaches are seeing in throwing sessions. It’s not like managers are going out there, cutting the head off a chicken in some old-timey voodoo ritual, and divining who to trot out there. The manager gets the heat, but the entire organization feeds into these decisions, I think.
  2. Lmao. Apologies apologies apologies. Don’t lose your a. Try reading instead. They can send Peralta back to A-ball for all I care. He’s probably earned it. But that wasn’t a bad pitch on that homer. First pitch curveball just below the zone, to a hitter that isn’t a huge hone run threat, and you could use a ground ball. I don’t mind that at all. If you call that an apology, so be it. To me, that’s analysis. I guess pitchforks and torches are more fun.
  3. On review, that wasn’t even a horrible pitch. And it’s Turner—not exactly a slugger. I’m not crazy about Peralta this year, but that appearance easily could have been very different.
  4. So, does anyone on the Brewers staff have a put-away pitch? Hader and his (rapidly declining) fastball? Our island of misfit toys are really just a bunch of broken knock offs.
  5. That bunt by Eaton is mystifying to me. Turner could just steal 2nd without giving up an out. EDIT: Props to all of Brewer nation saying this first.
  6. Just an unbelievably horrible AB for Hiura. I kept saying, “ok, he won’t swing at that pitch again.” And every time, that’s exactly what happened. Demoralizing.
  7. I haven’t been on the Freitas bandwagon, and I’m not likely to hop on enthusiastically, but if it means we can give Grandal a couple days off to reset and hit the cage a little more, I’d be down. And give Perez a start at 3rd for Moose while we’re at it. It’s a brutal stretch of games until the Brewers go to Miami on September 9th, and the squeaky wheels need to get oiled ASAP.
  8. Well, there are a couple lefty bats due up this inning who could use a turnaround. No time like the present.
  9. Amazing number of center-center balls being missed by Brewer hitters. Brutal
  10. I have a hard time being too hard on a player playing out of position failing to make a quick reaction play on a hard hit ball. I’m far from convinced that Thames would make that play. It’s not like it was hit right at him. It seems like it is becoming a major trend. The dude drops a lot of balls—catching and manning first base.
  11. Oh, hey, Grandal dropped a ball. Must be a day ending in y.
  12. Is this the game the Brewers finally miss Yelich? It’s starting to feel like it. There are some feeble ABs going on out there.
  13. Yeah, that feels gross, but you have to take that deal every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.
  14. In the absence of homegrown stud starters, Milwaukee had no other choice. If they can’t win with pitchers they develop, and they can’t win by bullpenning, then Milwaukee will not win—full stop.
