  1. Forget the bullpen usage. I’m mad CC called a bunt (if indeed that was his call—and I can’t imagine a position player making that call himself in that situation).
  2. It’s frustrating that we still have to think of certain pitchers as “closers”
  3. BA keeps being very cagey about the injury. Just said “if you’re just joining us, there is cause for concern...to hear the news of Yelich’s injury—the Brewers have not offered any.” What does that mean? Just an awkward improvisation? Does he have an indication of the injury and is not supposed to say anything without the official announcement? I’m probably just reading too much into it, but there have been moments where, in the dugout, Braun looks like his dog died.
  4. This is what drives me crazy about CC. They’re in the middle of a stretch where they don’t have an off day for another week. Even with expanded rosters, the pen is starting to get gassed, and every pitch counts, even warming up in the bullpen. I guarantee you this plan is mapped out in conjunction with all the pitching coaches, players, and analytics staff. It’s highly doubtful CC is doing this on a whim or gut feeling.
  5. An effective Jimmy Nelson who could go multiple innings would sure be nice right about now. But that’s a fantasy.
  6. Shaw followed by Freitas is absolutely brutal. I shudder to imagine a world where the two of them have to start at the same time.
  7. Another starter falling apart after only four. I think they are going to saddle Hader up and ride him like Secretariat to the finish line. Godspeed, big fella.
  8. Torts abides. I don’t know about you, but I take comfort in that. Torts—taking ‘er easy for all us sinners. Shoot. I sure hope the Crew makes the playoffs.
  9. Is this where we all remember that the Brewers have given up 25 runs to the hapless Marlins in just three games...?
  10. Going into today, Lester had a 2.10 ERA vs the Brewers and only given up three home runs in ten games. Suffice it to say, those numbers are about to be considerably different.
  11. I’m going to be glad to not see Castellanos for a while. That dude is a menace right now
  12. I love Kintzler, and he threw darts (except that last pitch), but yeah, kind of questionable to leave him in there for Yelich.
