  1. When WR, TE, and CB were all a possibility, a utility offensive lineman isn’t exactly like Christmas morning. That being said, guard is a big question mark, as is Bulaga’s durability (and quality, at this point), so if this kid can solidify the o-line, that’s a win in my book. I’m willing to wait and see on this one.
  2. You can say this about the Packers brass: they do their own thinking. Right or wrong, they don’t outsource their strategy.
  3. It wouldn’t be the Legion if Boom, but Williams and Williams, Attorneys for the Defense almost has a ring to it... ...no, not really
  4. This D had better be pushing top-5, because these investments are simply huge.
  5. I think Vikes should take a QB here
  6. And Gary might be their third-best. That thought at first was comforting, as in, maybe he doesn’t have to be a stud right now and he can learn from Pettine and the Smiths. Then I think, “Wait, this guy is a #12 pick. Shouldn’t he be a stud right now???” Gary has a lot to prove, and Gutekunst, who was always going to be graded on the next three years anyway, has raised the stakes on his tenure. This pick seems like a huge risk.
  7. May be time time to trade down. Especially is Sweat is gone.
  8. Yankees didn't think he was useful and they have a need. He's different, I'm just not sure he's better. Considering the recent track record of the Yankees identifying and developing successful starters, I would not count this as disqualifying. They may have something of an organizational problem in that area.
  9. Flaherty is getting predictable. And I think Perez needs to start more.
  10. Hey, other pitchers make mistakes too. I didn’t know that was a thing.
  11. Huh, another young Brewer giving up a jack. Tell me another one.
  12. So...Kimbrel anyone? In all seriousness, this feels like worst-case scenario for Brewers pitching. Every pitcher not named Davies is demonstrably worse than last year. Choose whatever explanation you like—DJ is gone/Hook sucks, regression to the mean, juiced balls, launch angle revolution—the staff is absolutely plagued by long ball issues, and pitch location is all over the map. If the team hopes to compete, the pitchers can’t continue this trend. Arguably, they can’t really be this bad, but we all hoped that was true after each Burnes start, and he just kept getting worse. I’m in the irrational “don’t just stand there, do something” phase of fandom, and so I get its irrational and I’d feel differently after a three-game win streak, so I’m going to keep baseball off tomorrow and cleanse the system. But I’d be lying to you if I said I didn’t have this thought on my mind as I try and sleep tonight: what if they sign Kimbrel/Keuchel, and this team only wins 80 games anyway because the staff really is this bad? Nightmare fuel...
  13. Not going to matter how many runs the pitching staff surrenders if the offense decides to take a vacation day. Silver lining - we'll likely see Jeffress today Yeah, he needs a little work. No time like the present...
  14. I would think AAA, since it doesn't seem like velocity is his issue, rather it is location. Walks and middle-middle fastballs won't play out of the bullpen, either. So sad, I was so excited to see what he could do as a starter this year. It's too easy for commentary about him to become elegiac at this point, and he will have a chance to re-establish himself in the future. But clearly all the spin rate in the world won't paper over location problems. Thus, Zach Davies is now the anchor of this rotation. Things are becoming quite precarious, and a couple more starters need to elevate their games in short order.
  15. They needed someone to hate on following Villar's trade. Perez is probably next in the line of succession for this high honor. And, not to be that guy, but whipping boys are technically people who are innocent of any crime who have to take punishment on behalf of someone not allowed to be punished. A 53 OPS+ is anything but innocent.
  16. Yeah but only 118 career ABs vs lefties. And 10 home runs in those ABs. Maybe it’s just an anomaly, but he’s been really good versus lefties thus far. I’m just pleased he didn’t get #11 tonight
  17. Defensive positioning is something else these days. No wonder guys are going up there figuring their best chance at a hit is over the wall.
