  1. You never stop worrying about the horror villain until the lights go up in the theater. This is NL Central 101 stuff.
  2. On a more serious note, I hope this is the last favor we do the Twins for a while. Can’t stand those guys…
  3. 20 wins over and we’re not even fully clicking yet. Right where you want to be at this point. Get the bats going in a few weeks and look out.
  4. Honestly, a no-no is one of the last things we need right now. Rea hurling 120+ pitches in late August is not exactly how I’d like us to utilize our finite pitching resources.
  5. Attended the game last night—can confirm, if the panels are also closed. The first few innings had roof AND panels closed, and it was brutal. But when the panels opened up it made a huge difference
  6. Seriously. If this team rosters a kicker that can only muster a low-80s make percentage and we go out in the playoffs because of a missed field goal(s), so help me Gute... It isn't the 1990's anymore, no one should have to live this way. UPDATE: And then I go look up Crosby's career percentage and it was... *pause for dramatic effect* 81.3%! What do I know? Apparently very little.
  7. I know that in a sense, the weight of the entire franchise was already on his shoulders, but after today, the weight of the franchise is really on his shoulders. It is not fair to expect him to be ready for this moment. But as Ra’s al Ghul said, “death does not wait for you to be ready.” The playoffs are calling, and it will be do or die time.
  8. I couldn’t agree more. Humans, and maybe especially baseball players, are such creatures of the story. Even when we want to deny that the past bears any weight on our present and future, we fall back on literary metaphors like “we’re going to turn the page.” If they get swept or lose the season series by like a 1-7 margin, the story is the same old Brewers can’t hang with the big boys. Now they know they can do it, not just intellectually (everyone always knows sports is an any given day proposition) but if they have a narrative in their favor, that means belief. That’s huge.
  9. Unbelievable series. Way to get off the mat, boys! Let’s roll!
  10. Forget the Dodgers, and the horses they rode in on. Man I can’t stand this team.
  11. It’s got to be such a cool feeling as a color commentator to say things like, “Black has an excellent sense of the strike zone” and then watch him backwards K on the very next pitch. Classic.
  12. If we’re wishcasting, yeah, Eovaldi looks good. And also put me down for some Amed Rosario shares. He would be a substantial upgrade over Monasterio as infield depth, and would give plenty of quality ABs down the stretch.
  13. Man, I’d love to see Amed Rosario take all of Monasterio’s ABs from here on out. It has become almost an automatic channel change or leave the room situation when I see him up to bat. Rosario even plays a little 3B occasionally. He’d be such a great get for us, considering where we’re at in the season.
  14. I have to apologize to everyone; snapping the winning streak is my fault. I got excited and finally started to buy in to the team being for real last night, so bought some tix for the fam for next week. Major slide incoming, no doubt.
  15. Learning day for young Mr. Chourio.
  16. That’s why the guy is on the roster. He can just keep hitting clutch bombs for the next three months, thank you very much.
  17. That’s because rookies, like one’s own children, should be seen and not heard. It is bad enough that we give the kids one special award at the end of the year, and here you go wanting to give them TWO? What’s next, pimping home runs and not wearing one in the ribs afterwards? We used to live in a society…
  18. The Brewers have come to bury the Braves, and not to praise them.
  19. Good grief, Rhys. The baserunning decisions of this team sometimes…
  20. I hear this kid Keston Hiura is about to be available. He had a great rookie year somewhere (escapes my memory), so could be a nice reclamation project.
  21. I for one welcome our new robot overlords.
