  1. Johnny Estrada could be one of the best hitting catchers in the game if he just learned to take a few pitches and be selective I really don't think so AndThat. He is a pure guess hitter. He literally has no clue what is coming, nor does he care to even improve slightly in that area. I don't think his bat is quick enough or his swing good enough to be even close to one of the best hitting catchers around. He ends up with 10-16 total luck, "cheap" basehits every year and people think he's a ".300 hitting catcher." He's simply not good, and that is why no team has held onto him. The fact that he's in the top 5 slowest major leaguers doesn't help either.
  2. Johnny Estrada batting 5th is eating away at me to the point where I have to turn off his AB's. Luckily, 14 seconds of Sportscenter takes care of 95 percent of them. He's awful.
  3. Isn't this a direct violation of man law?
  4. Bowen is too much? Um, Meredith is too much.
  5. Wow, I have to say not a chance. I'd take almost any of our AA/AAA lefties over this guy.
  6. Pirates trying to lose this game...
  7. mattchicorules.blogspot.com/ Matt Chico is the man! Wow, I love this blog.
  8. Friggin Pirates.
  9. You're right, Vargas has never had arm issues and Vargas pitched more than 50 innings last year. So you'd pass on a Harden for Vargas, Capellan, Irabarren deal? Come on.
  10. No way - Whats wrong with Vargas? Well nothing, but he's not Rich Harden.
  11. Inman and Vargas is too much for one player. Probably not worth the risk, I agree, but it would be interesting. You'd have to overpay slightly to nab Harden now, but man, that guy is filthy when he's healthy. But you never really know when that's going to be.
  12. If it's true, Beane's gonna want at least Inman, Vargas, one of Capellan/Sarfate/Villanueva, and probbly Irabarren or Perez. If he'd do it, I'd do Harden and a throw-in type prospect for Inman, Capellan, and the Hurricane, but he'll probably want Villy or Vargas too. That's probably too much.

  14. Sorry if I missed it, but it this game going to be blacked out in Milwaukee?
  15. Melvin is just not going to trade Jenkins while: A) He's helping the team, both offensively and defensively B) He's happy to be here and is a good influence C) He's the longest tenured Brewer who has represented the City of Milwaukee very positively during his stay here. While it may look good on paper to move him while he's hot, it would be a pretty classless move by Melvin and the organization to dump our longest tenured player, who has been our best player in past years, in order to "improve" the team. Melvin will probably let Jenkins walk next year, and that's fine. However, Jenkins is a huge part of our success right now, and he deserves to be here as our run at the NL Central unfolds. Therefore, as long as he's playing well and we are in contention, Jenkins is going nowhere, and I'm happy about that.
  16. Great game. Made my night. Not to be too cynical here, but Estrada was the player of the game for getting hurt. Miller came in and drew that walk to tie the game. Seriously though, I hope Johnny's OK. Villy has got some serious cajonas, and Fielder is man-strong.
  17. I am betting that maybe Hall has a minor injury that they are healing up. I really doubt there's any injury. Yost is just sending an early message to Hall that his overall game must improve and that he is better than he is playing. He's cost us multiple outs on the bases and made many miscues in CF already. A little has to do with his struggles at the plate, but more has to do with his struggles in the field and on the bases. I don't necessarily agree with Yost, but this will probably be his last game off for a while. Plus Gross is a stud. I'm not too worried.
  18. why can't billy play third and gross in center? that would be ideal until braun was called up anyway. I know i know bill is the CF now... This has been beat to death, but it is infuriating that it doesn't happen, so I don't blame people for bringing it up. Gross should hit against all righties - he's been solid as a rock for well over a year now and he's a good outfielder to boot. Graffy gives you a decent AB, but he has nowhere near the power of Gross. Counsell is playing way too much. Hall played a solid 3b last year when called upon. So to recap: Hall is an infielder (trying to learn OF and costing us early) Gross is a good hitter, good outfielder and can play center. Graffsel is not nearly as good as either of the above. Therefore, Hall plays 3B, Gross plays center, and the Brewers are a better team. Doesn't seem that difficult. The only Problem with this whole scenario, and the reason it won't happen, is because Hall would have to be moved to the OF once Braun is called up, so instead of struggling in CF in April, he would be struggling in CF well into July. It just seems like a catch-22 for the moment.
  19. I love the garbage man! Oh God please no - Winklesas is in the building?
  20. Gwynn is a very, very poor hitter. But at least he understands how to have a good AB.
  21. Wow, Jenks not happy with the youngster. Looked like Jenks' ball all the way. Gwynn was a little too anxious out there.
  22. Why is our front office and manager buying into the fact that TGJ is actually fast? His speed is quite average. He's no Brady Clark, mind you, but he's not that fast.
  23. I like that I can say with absolute certainty that Jenkins is our best hitter by far right now. Thank you Geoff. Correction. Second best hitter!
  24. Counsel hitting second? Oh well, there's always 2008.
