  1. I don’t know the answer to that, but these are the lowest all-time among qualified hitters for a season (which would typically require around 500 plate appearances in any given season)... Chris Davis, 2018 Orioles: .168 Dan Uggla, 2013 Braves: .179 Rob Deer, 1991 Tigers: .179 John Gochnaur, 1903 Indians: .185 John Gochnaur, 1902 Indians: .185 Shaw makes rob deer look like rod carew This is the best thing I've seen on this board all year.
  2. This is pretty much right on. Tough call but I said sell as well. Especially guys who won't be back. If anyone wants Cain in the off season I would pull the trigger. His deal is going to look gross the next 3 years.
  3. Where is my guy who was bashing me for saying this team is helpless against left handed pitching by quoting me ops numbers? Don't let numbers get in the way of the facts. Having a team full of left handed bats doesn't make the Cubs a good matchup. This was why I didn't understand the Grisham call up at the time. Well maybe he'll get back in there tomorrow.
  4. One thing I have been disappointed in this year is it relates to the Cubs is I was hoping the crew would have a swagger against them after last year. Unfortunately it still feels like the Cubs expect to beat the brewers when they play. Can't really say why it just feels that way. In the end they have more talent and that trumps everything but was hoping last year would carry over. It hasn't.
  5. This more than anything. There have been worse brewers team but they have been fun or interesting. This team isn't good but more than anything they are boring and not fun to watch.
  6. When your unhittable closer gets hit and you lose the whole teams energy. Those two losses in Oakland were killers. They look like Mike Tyson in Tokyo when he started getting hit for the first time.
  7. The Grisham situation is more fire for the what the heck is going on here take. I suppose Hammels coming back caught them off guard but what is the plan? If he isn't playing every day against everyone let him rake in San Antonio.
  8. Why exactly is Grisham here? He's going to have two days on the bench after tomorrow. Then what?? He going to play every day or is he just a bench bat who loses his rhythm?
  9. At the time it seemed like a huge deal but looking at it now this is true.
  10. When it's all said and done this is a fact. Has been all season. This is why the deadline was no big deal. They can't win with what they have. The talk needs to shift to how do they fix it?
  11. The more I look at his body of work, I see him as an outstanding offseason GM and a poor in-season GM. His in season work the last couple years has been pretty good to me. This year is the exception. Off season is skew due to Yelich trade but to me the lack of pitching moves is huge failure. Unless the Albers deal excites you. Tack on the draft issues and bloom may be off the rose.
  12. I've been saying this for awhile and take no joy in it. Some things just haven't gone his way but since the off season pitching decisions I've had questions. Big off season no doubt.
  13. Jeffress should be released. Bring up one of your big acquisitions. Enough already.
  14. Castellanos right handed bat would look pretty good in the brewers lineup. Brewers couldn't even play for him?
  15. Hiura being an iron glove sucks but in the big scheme of things that's number 231 on the list of issues. Definitely alarming but kinda in a cigarette being lit in a house fire kind of way to me.
  16. I hear you but regression may be part of the reason. He just isn't that good. Unfortunate.
  17. If we're using samples as small as 20 at bats anything can be "proven". If anything, you are highlighting another poor roster choice, not putting on a defense of it. Perez's spot is now filled by Shaw. Aguilar's spot is filled by a lefty outfielder. Do either of these guys project to ultimately do better vs lefties? I didn't realize protections going forward were based off so few at bats. Our position players have 1178 PAs vs LHP this year. The 8 players in our starting lineup have accounted for 849 of those PAs, or 71.8%. Jesus & Saladino accounted (very poorly) for 114 of them, or about 9.8%. The larger sample indicates our lineup today is at no disadvantage against a LHP. What about pinch hit options later on for the pitcher against a lefty out of the pen?? How does that look??

I didn't realize protections going forward were based off so few at bats. Thank you sir. You made my point much better than I did. All I was saying is the roster is a mess as it's been all year. A lefty starting just brings it into focus.
  19. Hiura hitting 3 is a positive step in the right direction. Hopefully Arcia found something in Oakland.
  20. OPS vs RHP: .774 OPS vs LHP: .766 I guess we are basically hopeless against everyone. If you mean boring and mediocre. Yes. I agree.
  21. By my count Brewers are facing two lefties to start the series and have to start some combination of Grisham Shaw Thames Moose and Gamel. There is no way around it with Saladino and Jesus gone. The horrible roster management continues. It will be difficult to win this series when you basically are helpless against left handed pitching.
  22. Travis Shaw is hitting. 155 . This is virtually impossible for a mlb player to do. He started a huge game today. To me this is RIP brewers.
  23. Yes, but it doesn’t help that he has been the only reliable reliever. If you are counted on for every important situation because there’s no one else, you are going to start failing at some point. True. The magic of Hader was he could pop up at any time well rested and blow people up. Now you know when he's coming. Back to back games it all makes him just another closer type but one who basically has one pitch. The Knebel Jeffress Hader pen made him a dangerous cat. Now not so much.
