  1. Cain with a highlight reel robbery of a blast to center. Fun to watch this team defensively.
  2. With a smile on his face and twinkle in his eyes —-Counsell asks “ do we leave him in there for the 8th or get a pinch hitter and get the bullpen ready in our half of the inning”.
  3. I hope you are right about Davies and he is able to overcome these setbacks along the way. It has been a grind for this starting staff and coaching staff this year with all the DL time while still putting together quality starts.
  4. Miley, Chacin, Anderson, Guerra, Peralta, Woodruff give us 6 to count on. Maybe wishful thinking that they can all make their hypothetical scheduled starts the rest of the season. Injuries have impacted half of them and Peralta is entering unchartered waters here in August and September. Exciting to see how this starting staff will evolve the next couple of months plus post season. We may need another guy to come on board to deal with possible attrition.
  5. Jesus could have used that liner down left field side to drop fair. Get him rolling again.
  6. “Legal” block of plate? Cain seemed like he had no chance to slide without blasting the catcher in the process.
  7. Sogard 2b Thames 1b Braun LF Shaw 3b Santana RF Pina C Broxton CF Arcia SS Bench: Bandy, Walker, Aguilar, Villar Possible lineup Aug 1 2018 Cain CF Yelich RF Braun LF Shaw 2b Aguilar 1b Schoop ss Moustakas 3b Pina c Bench: Perez, Kratz, Thames, Saladino, Arcia
  8. Same can be said for runs gained from better offense. This will have to be a wait and see experiment. I have read recently that the Brewers record when scoring 4 or more runs is off the charts - approx 80% wins; conversely the record when scoring 3 or fewer is abysmal. The fix to that issue is to add offense. Get to 4 runs and our chances of winning, because of a lock down bullpen and decent enough starters, go up big time. Now it is up to the players to perform and meet expectations. We can another starter if further attrition to the starters occurs (for the right price).
  9. Absolutely, DS is sticking to his plan. It is a balancing act that he is charged to perform: Build the roster to win now and keep the nucleus of prospects that are key for years to come.
  10. Yes, this deal makes a lot of sense, especially if it had occurred before the Moustakas trade. It sets up the 2019 infield without having to pay Moose's 15 million.
  11. Schoop will help balance out the lineup against all of Cubs' lefties.
  12. who would DS give up for Schoop?
  13. Shaw to shortstop.
  14. DS staying true to the plan by not giving up that kind of package for a risky pitcher.
  15. We still have Burnes, Peralta, Hiura, and Ray. Pirates just gave up a ton for Archer.
  16. Baltimore Sun is reporting that 2B J Schoop is on brink of being traded as well as Gausman.
  17. Along with Gio, the Brewers (and Braves) are “grinding” to get Archer.
  18. Short story, long —— I drove my dad 3+ hours to Miller Park to see the Crew take on the Braves on a Sunday afternoon - it was the last home game before the All-Star break. The Crew jumped all over the Braves pitching that day. Newcomb was the starter. Perez hit a 3 run jack to jumpstart the offense that day. Jesus hit 2 HR’s capped off one of the better homestands in recent memory. Interesting that Newcomb and Perez are linked in the same thread today just as they were a in a memorable game a couple of weeks ago. When Villar comes off the DL, do you see Saladino losing his roster spot? Unless something unexpected occurs (injury, another major trade) I don’t see both Saladino and Hernan on the roster together.
  19. An even bigger story is in the making —- Along with prepping for 2nd base duties, Shaw has been working on his batting stroke from the right hand side. So, the line up balance vs. lefties is also solved. ( in blue)
  20. Or, Jacob DeGrom trade is in the works.
