  1. Few things.... Shows that the eye test is correct where there are holes. Rizzo and 1b is a -1.0 WAA player this year??? thats somewhat shocking. (Must have been from his injury time), but that is there one offensive hole and their other little lower is 3b? Bryant? Really? So their two best players seem to have their lowest WAA/'s? Though we are one spot behind the Cubs - you can see why they think they are the better squad. Well, they really are better. By a larger margin. I do think Machado would flip shortstop to the positive side, thus closing the gap between us and the Cubs to closer to 1.0 instead of almost 3. Upgrading C 2B SS with smaller pieces can have the same effect too. I think you either have to go Machado, or fix 2 of the 3 minimum. That is what would help the offense. Great insight here!
  2. Phillips had a good game !!! We don’t have to play til Friday - thank God!!!!!!
  3. Williams should not have been taken out. Period. The game should have been stopped. Knebel didn’t have it today but was left in too long. This was a win that we really needed and nope. It is what it is. Long season blah blah blah. The only problem I have is that these games we ‘should have won’ just are adding up at an alarming rate. The cubs are passing us like we are standing still. Even with Machado , not sure it helps us. And that disappoints me because I was excited for that possibility. Instead it feels like a typical Brewers season of the last 10 years. Exciting first half. Deflating second. They just got started a week early. I know a lot of people will be like ‘it’s only one game and good teams have bad weeks etc’ but I have been a Brewers fan my whole life. And until they prove otherwise , this is the same old show unfortunately.
  4. Bahaha pathetic. Cuss words lots of them. In honor of Tom Petty.. We are free... freeeee fallllliingggg
  5. Well he can’t be any worse than ......... fill in the blank with any bench member we’ve had
  6. The question I ask myself... is over the last week against the Marlins and Pirates , if we had Manny - would the games have gone differently - and to be honest - I think we would have at worst won 2 more games based on his bat replacing some of the Low end production from our SS’s. Just my 2 cents . That is how DS needs to analyze this situation. And if he thinks yes there would have been more wins - then you go get him because down the stretch we need to score runs to win. A bat like Machado let’s that happen more consistently.
  7. Can we just forfit tomorrow and hit the ASB? This team is toast for now. Hope the rest does them well
  8. 2 more homers - sweet Jesús In the words of Ueker in ML : Aw hell nowbodys listening anyway
  9. Begs the question.... If we had Manny Machado this series - would the same results have happened ? Just wondering. If he makes that difference you go get him , tonight.
  10. Made the mistake of turning it back on. Shouldn’t have. Man this is a sad week here.
  11. Is the second game now almost a must win ? We all know Sunday is an auto L... Ugh just so disappointed right now. Still close to first place... we have a good team .... I’ll keep telling myself this
  12. This is embarrassing watching the last week or so. I don’t have anything positive to add to that so I’m going to just remain quiet.
  13. At least we get to their closer who just pitched last night too !
  14. 3-2 isn't a MUST, but would sure make for a nice all star break!
  15. Please explain why you think Archer is a long term upgrade. His ERA has jumped the past 3 years. His WHIP has gone the same direction, UP! Hits per 9 innings, yup, UP! His ERA is 4.41 and WHIP is at 1.381 this season. Strike-outs per 9 innings is more than 2 less than last year. He walks a ton of guys, and gives up a LOT of home runs. I think he is trending down, and not any kind of an upgrade. For what he would cost, it's a hard pass for me. I don't find him to be interesting or a long term upgrade. I will say what i meant was he was a better play THAN a rental. Looking in depth at his numbers, in his last 8 starts, he gave up a home run in one start - at Baltimore where he gave up 3. He is a prime candidate to really take a step up by leaving the AL East. In the second half of his starts this year, he has been getting more ground balls.. and equal to or greater than the fly balls allowed, which tells me he may be figuring out whatever mechanical flaw led to his BAAAAD April. Put some of these pieces together, with the fact at this point in time he may be available for LESS than he has ever been, and with our pitching coach / scouting / development team that has done a fantastic job maximizing guys with so - so talent.... imagine what they could do with a guy of his talent level. Just saying some food for thought.
  16. The more I think about the Marlins series and how we could barely get a starter to the 5th ..... and SURE it has worked til NOW... but we really do need a starter that can go 6 consistently, 7 or 8 now and then.... it will end up taking a toll on the pen... makes me want to trade for a TOR over even a bat rental.. but I don't even know any more!
  17. This whole last week, discussion, and rumors have me thinking the exact same. As long as he doesn't end up with the Cubs, I really don't care. And even then, further thinning out the Cubs in the future is A-OK with me. He's going to go to Baltimore or the Cubs or LA or some other pile of money in the off season anyhow. We may as well go for somebody interesting like an Archer or Realmuto and unload our top guys for long term upgrades. I was excited for a time, but the defense, with the rental.... and the bidding vs other teams has be exhausting. Imagine how DS feels. lol. as for Arcia... I get he is young... and fantastic defensively. For me it's not that he took a step back offensively. It's the way he did it. Went from oh man this guy could be a plus bat. To easy out, and not just bad luck... but horrible approach. Popping out 3-0 pitches. Things you don't do when you're in a slump. It's HARD to go from looking pretty good to looking THAT lost up there, and not doing any of the little fundamental things to give yourself an edge like most big leaguers do when they are having troubles at the dish. THAT, I believe is where people have questioned his makeup as a player. Gold glove defense is one thing, offensively lost and seems like there is no way out - is another. Just my opinion. Carry on!
  18. Being down 45 min from Nashville , and now a Predators fan .. I can say that NHL was VERY successful this year in Vegas. Not just because of the team, but the way the city embraced the team. And you have a lot of big name celebrities much like an LA or NY that attended games and such. I think it would be a good market for baseball. ANNNNND I didn't think of that keeping the name as the Rays - different Rays... zinnnnng - i get it lol. Well done.
  19. I'm spitballing here , but maybe they feel he can handle the extra innings? I mean, let's be honest - innings limits were never a thing. Then they were huge. Now I feel it's dependent on the player weather or not their strength and conditioning can allow an innings jump. Certain guys style (violent vs smooth delivery) can translate to less wear and tear than others. There has to be some curve for this. I've never bought the "there is a magic number each year" thing... maybe just my Brewers bias from the late 90s-2010 as every pitching prospect flamed out at some point at 25-200 innings - didn't matter, they all got hurt lol.
  20. Baltimore 40 man - just for fun.
