If only we had a 2B with slightly more range than Perez, who also hits better, and has more speed on the base paths..... I don't get what Villar needs to do to play more than Perez... Perez is CC’s boy. -
Was it Larry Waker? I just looked and the steroid era is so fun to look at with Coors Field numbers. Walker's home batting line in 1999: .461/.531/.879/1.410 with 26 HR in 66 home games (only started 58). No, he's not the one. Yea, it was not he.... haha WOW.

First off - i love reading your posts. Second... what would a Knebel trade looked like for Mejia. I am curious. Because man, it seems like he would be expendable and Mejia would be a nice upgrade for us long term. Almost a move DS would have made if it were possible since it checks a box, without hurting us too much. I don;t believe Knebel is the same as he was even last year, but relievers unless you are Trevor Hoffman or Mariano Rivera come and go after about a 2-4 year window .. (or that's just what we have seen here in Milwaukee lol). -
He plays for the Rockies, so yes. Who is the guy that has reverse splits, or had reverse splits there? I can't recall who it was... maybe was a couple years ago...?

I would love a Duffy/Merrifield/Perez deal. It would cost a HAUL. But it fills needs left and right. -
This year yes, more than "usual". Mostly he has been better at Coors than on the road, but no slouch on the road. This is the one year that looks "bad" split wise.

That echos my thoughts as well. That might be the plan. In fact with Machado gone, the only significant impact moves are to acquire an ace, assuming Hiura can be key piece, and then upgrading with a 2-3 year better than average starter at a position of need. Gives them a shot at having a starter to win a Wild Card play in game this year and upgrades the team for next 2-3 years. One note, Danny Duffy has been on a real nice run. He's allowed no runs in 3 of his last 5 starts, and 4 of his last 7, and one run in another. Is he a genuine Ace? Maybe not, but since May 24, he's been terrific. Duffy/Merrifield as a combo? Duffy scares me. Inconsistent seems to be his M.O. - And hes expensive as well. I know 14 mil this year but isn't he signed for 3 more years? Or is it 3 total? I suppose if he and Merrifield came together that would be ok, might soften the cost blow if you combined the two... Probably get away with offering a Woodruff, Broxton/Phillips, Ray, Brown, and some lower guys as well.... But that might be too much from our end even though it would be "fair".

Would you guys send Ray and a lottery ticket for Dozier? I think that would be about the correct value... but would YOU do it? I'm torn.. because I want to believe he would have a big second half,.. but worry about his poor first half....

Not happening but it would be amazing. But, the Rockies chance of moving him hover around 1%. He is their Todd Helton 2.0.

I have gone back and forth with Archer. I see somebody who needs a change of scenery. And to be plugged in with Derek Johnson... out of the AL East.... and you have what would by far be our ace. ONLY IF the cost is not INSANE... then yes.. get it done and bring him here please! I had done some digging into his year so far this year and the second half of his starts so far, he has done much much better, and kept the ball in the yard. He also has been getting more groundballs as the year has gone on, so it leads me to think he is getting it figured out. Again - it depends on the cost. But I'd pay more for him than a lot of other fodder like Hamels, Happ, etc.

As much as the last 2 weeks have sucked. And we have to face Machado off the blocks..... We are hanging a 10 spot on them tonight. It will be epic. The bridesmaid will get the last laugh this weekend and through the end of the year. And to paraphrase what Lt Aldo Raine in Inglorious Bastards Said: And the DODGERS will be sickened by us, and the DODGERS will talk about us, and the DODGERS will fear us. And when the DODGERS closes their eyes at night and they’re tortured by their subconscious for the evil they have done, it will be with thoughts of us they are tortured with. Sound good? eek. He is having a bad year. And even the last 2 years he sure did K a whole lot... Not sure if we want to add that to an already K friendly lineup. If he was sent for a Villar straight up - I would do it, and hedge my bets that he returns to more of a 2017 or 2016 Schoop. Not much more I would offer up however. What would you give up for him?

I hope you are right here! I always thought Villar would be like Carlos Gomez, and it would "click". He would use his speed as a weapon and enough power to keep the other team honest. He has consistently gotten hits, but with minimal power and walks, it is like a puff of smoke. Santana, I guess I struggle in wondering where he even got his pop last year. It's like he would have a week where he gets 5-6 homers then 50-60 at bats of .220/.260/.345 type ball. Streaky for sure. Like Geoff jenkins minus the true power. I really don't know if either is a long term answer on this club, when at the same time I fear they will both go be Segura and Gennett after they leave. But right now.. not sure we will see that outcome here.

3 Ks last night ... not nice. 2 homers in one game can put a bow on a turd. haha. I really want him to ramp it up , but until we see a week or two of consistency, I don't know what he is anymore .

Manny Machado 9th inning homer to win game one. We get swept. That seems to be what would be "so Brewers" right now. Optimistically I'm thinking we take the series 2-1. And hopefully by the end of next week we get a couple new shiny toys under the trade deadline tree. IF not, it may be a slow slide down the rungs in the NL. -
Not sure the Giants are selling but I like it. Even if the Giants arent "selling" that is a package that would/should excite them long and short term. And for Madbum, I would do that in a heartbeat. Only place I would disagree would be Betancourt - because I like me some Nottingham instead! But overall fantastic moves. Please go take over the team, thank you.

Jean Segura, last two seasons with Brewers: 1141 PA | 65 wRC+ (116th of 117 qualifiers). WAR: 0.2 (112th of 117 qualifiers). Scooter Gennett, last two seasons with Brewers: 933 PA | 86 wRC+ (149th of 164 players with at least 900 PA). WAR: 0.4 (156th of 164 players with at least 900 PA). It's difficult to sell incredibly low on players who had no value by virtue of their own measurably terrible performance. Can we pin this to the top of the board? Yes, it sucks that we let two all-stars go. But at the time of their departures, they had large sample sizes of being bad major league baseball players. Hindsight is 20/20. I echo this. Segura and Gennett both were widely seen as turds in the punch bowl much along the ways of how many see Villar (but even worse) and saw Sogard. The fact that hindsight is now involved, means nothing at all with "would have could have should have".

Well, if any team could use some positive PR right now .... If there ever were a "TRAP" trade... this is becoming it now... Hopefully DS keeps his wits about him because yes... this would be a welcome positive note.

I hate that there is so much hate in the world.... and sports can't just be an escape from reality for a few hours anymore. Again, I'm only 34 and feel this way. UGHHHHHHHH.
