  1. i have seen it stated that the Yankees did not even make an offer... basically just the Yankees have to be talked about as part of every possible big name, or it's not officially going to happen. they actually NEED starting pitching if anything, if anyone is to "beat" us it would be LA.
  2. No Nottingham? Cause the young buck can't catch a game after catching 10 innings? Boo. lol. I want him to get the lion's share and knock Kratz off the roster, and go 50/50 with Pina. I can dream!
  3. Basically, O's want Burnes from MKE or Lux or May from LAD. Both teams balking. MKE prefers to build a package around Phillips & Ortiz. Sounds like we are in a good spot to offer them what they need, but more so under our conditions. Where as LA has what they want and then a steep drop off. I think we can get something done that will not hurt us long term. If it would hurt us, DS won't pull the trigger. If they want Burnes... i would do Burnes straight up and that's it. But that's just me.
  4. he's a little better than Hernan Perez. Not sure what he would do here? That's a move for the sake of making a move and no real upgrade to anywhere, in my opinion.
  5. I would imagine that the longer the Orioles wait to deal him, the more his price goes down. Manny Machado on July 10 is much more valuable than Manny Machado on July 31. The longer they wait to deal him, the better for the Brewers. But, it also means they have to wait that much longer to get him in the lineup. The Brewers have very good clubhouse chemistry and several veteran leaders who have earned that role. It would be a horrible business decision for Machado to come in and do anything to disrupt that. Agreed. Do we think, after all the discussion, the defense, etc... that it's even "wise" to deal for him now? Or should we go for an Eduardo Escobar type guy who has an upside but may be lower downside as well.... and cost a lot less in the meantime.
  6. I don't know how excited I am about him now after reading up on his defense. And about how he is just a shortstop. Not saying he is a Manny Ramirez type of selfish player, but he hasn't always been a model citizen. There are some worries I have about him disrupting the "team" but hopefully his bat would make up for any of that. Hearing LA possibly moving past him looking at other guys, and hearing the Yankees "maybe asking" (which means nothing - more or less a DUH!) makes me wonder if either a. we shouldnt even bother or b. we can actually get him cheaper - and if that is the case we will be waiting til closer to the deadline to be able to execute the trade. I hate the waiting game. But know full well DS is doing his thing and will surprise us with some shiny new toys.. that won't cost horribly.
  7. Very possible. It does make some sense to try to drive up the price since they have time. Hopefully Stearns has some sort of deadline as the games continue to be played and he becomes less and less valuable to the team trading for him. With LA ‘moving on’ somewhat already.... if you’re DS do you just ‘drop your offer on the desk’ put a 48 hour window on it and say take it or leave it? Spice it up with a lottery ticket and call it a day. Don’t play the bidding game - let the O’s look foolish and be ok in the long run cause you can maybe go get a Realmuto or somebody instead ?
  8. Couple of those pitches looked like strikes to Maybin but when you’re wild you tend to not get those calls. Sigh. Come on let’s get outta this
  9. Nice work by mister Williams today! Cain Yelich and Aguilar - no reason our AllStar trio (he will be voted in) can’t give us a lead here ! Let’s go
  10. I am merely saying, that if Hader doesn't go 6 or 7 days between his last appearance, maybe he is sharper and doesn't give up those HRs. You guys can't possibly think that a relief pitcher will be as effective with sporadic appearances as he would if he is used more consistantly, right? Counsell is not perfect, and he is not above criticism. If he does stupid things, you can and should expect him to be questioned. I don't think we should just accept everything he does, he is sometimes at fault, whether people here believe it or not. yup that's a fair way to look at it. I was more focused on the mocking type posts. That said, where would you have used him without having the benefit of hindsight 20/20? That's the issue here, there's legit reasons he hasn't been used due to odd circumstances. I guess I'd say maybe yesterday in the blowout. Or maybe the game when he was already warming up. But then again, what if they needed him the next day? Then CC would get bashed for wasting him in a blowout. so I'd go with yesterday, give him like 12-15 pitches and get him out so that he's available today. This. With the Braves lefty heavy meat of the order you could have got him a couple batters and kept him fresh. No harm there. Hindsight is 20/20. I applaud the move to Williams today. He does make good moves too. The bad ones stick out more is all. It’s life and what the IGT is for - short term overreactions so we don’t throw the old remote clear across the room or a pillow into the wife’s China cabinet.
  11. Hader def was not his normal self til the end of his appearance. I can say that’s CC’s fault for not getting him some work at some point the last week (there were about 3 times I think most agreed they could have went to him if even to get him a couple batters). In the same vein I don’t know if Williams will do the job but I think it’s a good move to bring him in vs a guy that teed off Hader already. So good on CC for this move. Taylor has shown he can be good. I’ve been a Brewers fan long enough to appreciate good and bad moves. Lord knows I’ve seen thousands of bad ones! It’s nice to have higher expectations for once.
  12. I don’t say it’s CC’s fault unless the result is directly related to something he did where from the vantage point of 99% of the fan base we can agree it was a bad decision. Hader not pitching in nearly a week Zagdumpsterfire for a 2nd inning Things like that. Yes Hader has to make better pitches , and you can’t just blame the ump. But if you have a guy who’s worked more than once a week maybe he makes better pitches in better spots. Just saying.
  13. Has anyone "in the know" heard "why" Brown was scratched today.... I'm sure clubspeak will be limiting innings. But its awfully strange they do these scratches within hours of these guy's starts.....
  14. It's stated that he would go line up with the AL and wear a generic ALL STAR jersey and not be able to participate. He'd be like a Russian Olympian! ZING!! I do think a trade will... (and for our sanity should)... happen in the next 3 days. Just my hopes!

  16. THAT i would do i think.
  17. From Glenn Davis to Chris Davis.... they have had some interesting moves over the years. I agree with you, however, not dealing manny last year or past offseason... might be the worst error they made. Even if there is a bidding war now... not like it'll be for top top guys. It'll be for who adds a lottery ticket. Or who doesn't ask them to cover some cash.
  18. That would be the Oriole way though... end up not even trading him, getting nothing in return... They should have traded him by now this year - they could have gotten more... but they just don't seem to get it. They are shooting themselves in the foot by the day. They are 37 out. 14 games out of 4th place. This is not new that they are WAY out of it. Head scratching to waste any more time! Should've traded him last year or before the season - yes. On trading him earlier this year - that is up for debate. It's possible that they're trying to hold out for better offers and more teams to solidify that they feel like they're in contention. I doubt that the O's are holding out because they think they have a chance in the standings. I could buy that All-Star game thing, though. Just think how lucky we are to a. not be in the AL East and b. to have competent ownership and leadership.... if you havent had a chance to follow the links to the Oriole message boards - please do - because they either think that the Orioles are going to botch it and be stuck getting nothing, or they think they are getting Peralta, Hiura, Woodruff, and Ray for Machado, and we will toss in Arcia for fun too. Its funny.

  20. Why are we discounting Woodruff so much? He is every bit the prospect Burnes is ... the only difference is he's got some MLB time. Why in the world would we rather include Woodruff and another good arm than Burnes? I agree with you that way too many people on here discount Woodruff and his talent. But if I'm choosing who to keep I'm choosing Burnes. His secondary pitches are equal too/slightly better than Woodruff but he has more control and that's the main reason I'd keep him. Again, I don't think we need to give up Burnes to land Machad nor do I think we should. But I would use Woodruff or Ortiz if the secondary piece is Broxton. Santana was mentioned in the article too along with Arcia but they're both better players than Broxton and I think that's definitely an overpay if they're part of it along with one of our Top 5 pitching prospects. Personally it "feels" like the luster has come off Woodruff. I do agree its more of a "feeling" than anything. Long term my gut says between he and Burnes that Burnes will be the better pitcher. Nothing more or less. If it means him and a Broxton to have Machado instead of anyone else in the NL... I would have to say its darn tempting. IF we can get away with a lesser arm... I'm game! I just think if we were to get him it would take a little bit of a step up.
  21. If Burnes and Broxton were talked about I would do Woodruff, Broxton, and a AA-A type arm. I could live with that.
