  1. I also that the Saturday's victory would be a big confidence builder, which would lead to success. We let it become a climax instead of a springboard. The Cubs have scored 5 runs and have won two games with them. I think that it is a lot more than just JJ Hardy's fault. I don't understand why, when we lose close games, everybody talks about JJ's lack of hitting or Neds bunt decisions. It is more than that. We don't have much of a line-up. I would make one change, I would put Brady in the 3rd spot. I feel that is the key spot in a line-up. I think Ricky could bat lead-off. I would like to see Brady get more RBI chances because he is our most consistent hitter.
  2. I think that when Branyan comes back, Fielder goes down. I also think that Durrington is here to stay. However, he should only be used in emergencies. If someone else comes up, I think that Hardy goes down. The Brewers are doing him a disservice. I think that we have trades left in us, but they are of the minor variety, unless we have another long losing streak.
  3. Are we going to move someone back to first base, meaning that Prince will stay up longer in Milwaukee than we have been led to believe. Has Brad Nelson fallen out of favor? Are we going to call an outfielder up to Milwaukee? Did one of our outfielders get hurt and I missed it?
  4. Despite their health problems, this is still an exciting pitching match-up. Hopefully the trends of Sheets beating the Cubs and Wood losing to the Brewers continue.
  5. I am tired of watching guys like Helms, Magruder, and Durringon play while Hardy and Fielder sit. I remember when we had a plan to build our team and develop into a contender. We are playing for 82 wins this year, I hope that we aren't hurting ourselves down the road. Helms won't be with the team next year. I highly doubt that Magruder will be with the team next year. Durrington has a chance depending on what happens with Cirillo. We are still playing our "rent-a-team" while our future team wastes away. I know that we will have some prospects fail. I would hate to have our organization be the reason for it. I am sick of "rent-a-teams". I am sick of watching not-real-talented players playing while talented ones sit. 82 wins isn't going to feel that great if we get there unless we are battling for the wildcard. Helms isn't going to lead us to the wildcard. I wonder if Melvin is OK with the current path, or is Ned alienating the front office.
  6. It looked like Miller Park had an electric environment. The team finished the game with a lot of emotion. This should carry over until tomorrow. This could be a springboard win.
  7. Rickie Weeks is good. Real good. After years of watching people like Glenn Braggs, Antone Williamson, and Kyle Peterson fizzle; I can't believe Rickie is on our team.
  8. We better cash in here because Wes is playing 3rd in the 9th.
  9. Cirillo should have pinch hit for Hardy. We could have used Prince or Helms in the pitcher's spot then, depending on who Gardenhire went with. We had to stick with Cirillo against the righty because he has to come in on D.
  10. Why would they send Cuddyer on a hit to Jenkins when he gets to run in on the ball? Not a smart move
  11. While he didn't do anything spectacular, he didn't do anything that made you think he couldn't play. I remember watching Kenny Felder and Antone Williamson in the CWS. Felder's swing was all tied up while Williamson's bat looked slow and the announcers kept commenting about his weak defense. You knew watching those guys that the Brewers had some work to do with them. You get the feeling that Braun doesn't have those kinds of bad habits. If he is legit, he could climb the ladder quickly like Weeks did. There is nobody ahead of him to block him.
  12. I agree on starting Rickie Weeks tonight. But we all have heard Ned's line about letting call-ups sit a few days to get used to the surroundings. I wonder if Rickie will get a pass on that since it won't be his first time in the majors.
  13. I was happy to see Wise get that kind of opportunity. I think if he gets more chances like this, the outcome will be positive much more often than negative.
  14. Something looks different about Santos' mechanics tonight. Krynzel showed some speed down the line. Weeks is not in the line-up for Nashville tonight.
  15. I think Torre got himself thrown out because the score was 7-2 and he felt that could win without him. He was sticking up for his player. That is one reason why players love to play for him. It was obvious to me that he was not going to leave the field until after he was ejected. By getting himself ejected, you can bet he saved Tino grief with the press and the boss. I have no doubt that the players appreciate things like that.
  16. Attanasio said on ESPN that the Brewers had considered bringing up Prince instead of Krynzel because of a need for a DH in upcoming interleague games. He also said that Anthony Gwynn was in those discussions, however I wonder if he just said it because he was sitting next to Tony Gwynn. Attanasio seems to be on top of the minor league stats. I see that Casey has done a much better job in writing about the interview. When I started this, the other post wasn't up yet.
  17. I think I should lay off of Chad for awhile. I am actually glad when Sheets strikes out. I don't think that running the bases would be good for him.
  18. Thanks for the stats on the double play. I guess my thought on Moeller killing innings has to do with the fact that it seems like he almost drives in runs. Plus, there was that game in Washington when he struck out 3 times with runners in scoring position. When the pitcher is on deck you have to do with that out.
  19. Does anyone have this stat? I think that Moeller has hit into more DPs than he has hits. I have never seen anyone, ever, who has killed more innnings than Moeller.
  20. The game is also the alternate game on ESPN. It is on Directv channel 210. Greg Papa and Tony Gwynn are the announcers, they also did last night's game for ESPN2. For people who need a break from Sutton-Schroeder this is a good alternative. This is a much quieter broadcast. Gwynn was saying early in the game how Thompson has a delivery that would be easy for a left-hander to see, and that Thompson's stuff may be more effective against righthanders. Nice to hear some true analysis. They are also having a Ben Sheets love fest.
  21. JDLR seems to be able to go one time through the order every couple of days. The one time through the order is because of his lack of a third pitch. The every couple of days, maybe that is because he doesn't get to do that very often. If only he had another option.
  22. I would guess that Moeller grounds into double plays a higher percentage of time than his batting average. It seems he grounds into double play every time he can. Its unbelievable. When Schroeder made the comment that Rodriguez would not throw Moeller a curve with a 2-1 count I thought "he will throw the curve and Moeller will swing at it." I am sure many of you thought the same thing. We were all correct. This is amazing. We need to find a way to get a third catcher so that he can be pinch hit for in future games.
  23. We are 4-0 on this homestand against teams that don't win on the road. I look at this as a positive. We may be taking a step up as an organization. In the past we would lose to these teams. I hope I haven't jinxed the rest of the weekend. If we could find someone to hit consistantly in the six spot I think we will avoid last year's swoon. I like our pitching staff more than last year's.
  24. To me watching JDLR pitch is a little like watching a young Brett Favre play QB, you know something will happen and you know it has a chance to be really good. I hope he gets to pitch more frequently. I don't understand why he was used there. I thought I knew Ned's roles for the pen, I was wrong. The good thing is that everyone in our pen other than Phelps is preferable to Luis Vizcaino. Does Ned feel that Magruder is a better OF than Jenkins? I think that Mike Adams gets sent down. He needs the work. I see that people are saying that Phelps gets sent down. He has no options, he would have to be DFA'd or released.
  25. This doesn't look like a regular Dodger line-up tonight.
