  1. Brewers had 6 in their 2017 Top 100- Lewis Brinson (27), Josh Hader (33), Corey Ray (42), Luis Ortiz (79), Brandon Woodruff (82), and Isan Diaz (93). They had 4 in their Top 100 for both 2016 and 2018.
  2. As was already mentioned, Chourio is, at the moment, the top prospect in the organization according to Baseball America. In my opinion, however, if Wiemer continues to produce the way he has at AA and then carries it over to AAA he is still #1. Honestly don’t think it’s fair to Chourio to rocket the 18-year-old to the top because as soon as he struggles a little at A+, AA, whatever, it will take a toll on his confidence. I mean I don’t think Hedbert ever received this much praise and he even told me himself that he struggled mentally last year and early this year with his struggles after those expectations were placed on him. Chourio doesn’t need to be compared to Vlad Jr, Tatis Jr, etc. Can’t imagine what pressure that must put on him.
  3. Interesting note here, Jose Cuas, former Brewers farmhand, has been called up to the big leagues by the Royals. He started his career as a position player in the Milwaukee organization but has since transitioned to the mound where he has been very effective.
  4. Beautiful night at the ballpark in Cedar Rapids. First time watching Antoine Kelly in person this year and he has outstanding stuff. However, Darrien Miller has had no chance throwing out runners with the time it takes Kelly to get the ball to home plate. Three solo bombs for the Rattlers. Also, Jadher Areinamo carries himself like he belongs here.
  5. I had updated earlier that Ward was likely to join an affiliate soon barring a setback. Well… I spoke too soon. The injury that he was attempting to rehab did suffer a setback and he underwent surgery in Milwaukee last week.
  6. 1.) RF Joey Wiemer 2.) LHP Ethan Small 3.) CF Sal Frelick 4.) SS Brice Turang 5.) CF Jackson Chourio 6.) LHP Antoine Kelly 7.) 2B Felix Valerio 8.) C Jeferson Quero 9.) 2B Tyler Black 10.) CF Garrett Mitchell 11.) SS Eduardo Garcia 12.) CF Hedbert Perez 13.) RHP Logan Henderson 14.) RF Hendry Mendez 15.) RHP TJ Shook 16.) SS Freddy Zamora 17.) RHP Victor Castaneda 18.) C Darrien Miller 19.) 3B Zavier Warren 20.) RHP Stiven Cruz Honorable Mention: Jace Avina
  7. As one coach in the organization put it to me, “If he wakes up tomorrow and can throw strikes consistently, you could put him in the Milwaukee pen right now.” That is high praise for the very raw stuff that Brustoski possesses. That faith will also allow Jakob an extended chance to find his control. Correct me if I’m wrong, but 20 of his 28 outs are Ks… whew
  8. Completely agree with everything you said. Obviously, there are a few pitchers working their way back from injuries that I will be excited to watch (Zavolas, Henderson, etc), however, there are a handful of guys “ready to step in right now” at Carolina whenever an opportunity presents itself. One of these guys was Stiven Cruz, others include Domingo Mejia, Alexander Vallecillo, Patricio Aquino, Leoni De La Cruz, and Michael Perdomo. All of them fit right into the youth movement at Carolina, outside of perhaps De La Cruz but still exciting nonetheless.
  9. Milwaukee organization is very high on Cruz’s potential. I think it speaks volumes that his first stateside appearance was on a big league mound in major league spring training. In my opinion, MLB spring innings are more of a testament to high praise for a young prospect than simply giving an at bat to a young guy every once in a while. They typically don’t give innings out to guys that aren’t held in high regard within the organization, at bats, however, are given out to many young guys every year.
  10. I’ve been wondering for a while about when ACL and DSL seasons will get underway but I hadn’t seen anything official. Finally, Adam McCalvy confirmed for me that June 6 is opening day for both of the short-season leagues.
  11. Should also add that Ernesto is currently out with a sprained wrist.
  12. Just spoke to Ernesto Martinez, he told me that OF Sal Frelick has been moved up to AA Biloxi. Probably an official announcement tomorrow, but talk about a stacked outfield…
  13. Just spoke with Abner: Bad news- He will not return this season Good news- Nothing arm related, will undergo knee surgery in the coming days
  14. The Timber Rattlers were in Milwaukee tonight for their day off to take in a big league game. This is not surprising but what is…. RHP Abner Uribe was also at the game which means he has either been sent down to A+ (unlikely) or is in Milwaukee to undergo surgery (last pitched 4/12).
  15. OF Je’Von Ward is very close to a return. Pending a setback, he should join A+ Wisconsin by the end of April, beginning of May. Biloxi is a possibility but current plan seems to be Wisconsin, Tristan Peters sent down to Carolina, and Oswal Leones is the odd man out.
  16. RHP Noah Zavolas has just arrived in Arizona where he will spend some time before heading to an affiliate. I will update when I hear back on the specifics whether it is an injury or something else.
  17. UT Noah Campbell suffered a compound fracture of his pinky finger (glove hand). Will miss some time but shouldn’t be an extended absence. Whatever other threads that people think this post belongs please quote and copy.
  18. Yes, they will stay in Arizona regardless of whether it is an injury or simply because they are starting the season with an Arizona club. However, Jakob Brustoski is in fact on the opening day roster for Carolina. He will fill the void of the invisible James Meeker that was mistakenly a part of the official roster announcement.
  19. As Ron Robinsons Beard pointed out, they had a “AAAA” catcher in Brett Sullivan. They also have two more in Brian Navarreto and Jakson Reetz. Top prospect Mario Feliciano is also right on the edge. All of this not even to mention Jason Lopez who is MIA at the moment. Victor Caratini obviously represents a huge step up from all of these “AAAA” catching options, all of which are either not ready yet or haven’t proved enough to get an extended look, pretty much the definition of AAAA-type players. Alex Jackson on the other hand…. ?
  20. Just got word that Chourio is set to make his pro debut at Biloxi…. Nah, I’m just kidding, but yeah I agree.
  21. Maybe our first (somewhat) surprise roster placement this season, RHP Abner Uribe will begin the season with Biloxi
  22. C Darrien Miller moves up to Wisconsin after being a nice surprise at Carolina last season
  23. Highly-touted 19-year-old C Jeferson Quero will begin his season with Carolina as well
  24. INF Yeison Coca returns to Wisconsin for a third consecutive season
