Ernesto reported to spring camp yesterday which was the official position player report date for minor league camp. He said he’s fully healthy, they just do not want to get him started too early after his injury-shortened campaign last year. Goal is to be ready to go by opening day and be well-resting and prepared for a full season

Minor Leaguers Brought Up for the Day Spring Thread

Not sure where to put this, but I had a conversation with the Uribe today and he now prefers Brismauris. So it’s Brismauris Uribe, previously known as Abner. -

Don’t have the time to read the article or comments right now, but a successful 2023 for the Brewers is 1 of 2 scenarios with virtually no variation: 1.) Brewers narrowly make the postseason via a wild card spot while relying on their starting pitching depth once again with an early elimination from the postseason. 2.) Brewers are not contending around the trade deadline or, at the very least, clearly have no shot of a division title and decide to capitalize on the most valuable major league assets by selling in order to build the best, deepest young organization and farm system in baseball. This would set them up for competitive baseball for years and years to come as well as free up salary space.

Also, Misiorowski is going to have to showcase some level of control before I view him as a Top 10 guy. I also tend to lean towards likelihood of impacting the majors at some point which is why you'll see guys like Monasterio and Clayton Andrews in the back half over young talent that has probably more potential such as Manuel Rodriguez, Duncan Garcia, etc. -

Can’t wait for the new format, sounds like an awesome upgrade! -
Mendez, Quero, and Turang all proved a great deal in 2022 if we all step out of our chancyphile lens and into reality for a second. I suppose I can see a case for Turang having to prove himself ,once again, at the major league level this season, but ‘22 went a long way in showing his value. Also, Gasser shouldn’t have any pressure put on him to prove anything in regards to “being the return for Hader”. Gasser will go out in 2023 and be the exciting pitcher that he has been in the past.

2022 Minor League Transaction Thread
ARobsBrewCrew replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Spoke with Manuel Vargas on two separate occasions. One of the nicest guys in the organization and my heart goes out to him. Looks to be, at this point, a career-ending injury that prevented him from ever making his pro debut. -
Spoke with Abner Uribe this morning, he said that there are no health concerns for him and he feels great. Brewers just decided to shut it down for him until spring training. Very good news!

Ranking the new prospects!
ARobsBrewCrew replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Am I missing something or is Peguero no longer prospect eligible? -
Maybe I’m in the minority, I really have no idea, but I don’t see any way in which the Brewers aim to build off of last year in terms of competing for a World Series. From everything I have seen, the trend is downward for the current Major League group. I highly doubt a full rebuild is in the future, or necessary for that reason with the amount of talent in the organization that, in reality, is not far away from making an impact. However, with contracts running out of time, the amount of talent in the organization that could only be accentuated by selling a few pieces, the hard reality of likelihood for regression in some currently on the roster, etc., I honestly see a much better overall, vastly different roster in two years. One more season of waiting seems very worth having the deepest farm system and one of the best, young MLB rosters from top to bottom in the league with the young talent that COULD be brought in. Not to mention the fact that “prospects” aren’t the only valuable return that the club could get from selling. Surely some highly-touted young players that are already making an impact would be available if the Brewers did decide to flip some off of the current roster. Very tough call and I don’t know, maybe I’m way off, but just my opinion. (Notice how I didn’t mention any names because I don’t want start a riot ?)
-
I don’t want to say that I wholly disagree with you, but I wholly disagree with you. If anything, his repertoire points to more value as a starter and that his stuff can be more effective throughout a start rather than in short stints. While I would still disagree, if you were making the same comments about Misiorowski, I could see where you are coming from. Typically, if you want the makings of a high-leverage reliever, you would seek a fastball that reaches (or at least threatens) triple-digits. Obviously, that’s not always the case but I digress. Henderson has the stuff, the repertoire, and the demeanor to be a bulldog starting pitcher. There are really no signs to suggest otherwise at this point.
-
It has been awesome reading everyone’s perspectives on the current state of the farm system, but I’d like to point out one thing that I have caught onto that many people may overlook. Obviously, Misiorowski is probably the most exciting arm to dream on, however, many in the organization believe there is another young hurler that has the highest potential. Of course, there are high hopes for CRod, Stiven Cruz, Robert Gasser, etc., but the “man” is Logan Henderson according to many coaches in the organization. Outstanding professional debut outside of, really, one appearance. Very excited to see him get stretched out more and show what he’s capable of in 2023.
-
Jose Briceno, former top catching prospect turned journeyman, not a Brewers farmhand.
-
Without a doubt! Just saying that big league invites are usually for guys that are in consideration for 40-man roster spots. Prospects don’t have to get a big league invite to play in big league spring training games. Also, a big league invite would imply that Chourio would practice with the big league squad for at least a portion of spring training, but he’ll most likely practice on the minor league side of the complex and come up for some game action with the major league squad.
-
He will, undoubtedly, see some action in big league camp (if healthy, knock on wood). However, a big league invite is improbable and unnecessary honestly. I suppose it is in the realm of possibility, just not likely. This is more about the fact he just finished his first full-season campaign and they would like him to take some time to rest this offseason. Allowing him to play for a month is more of just a reward for his great season (similar to his promotion to Biloxi for a week) since he clearly would love the opportunity to play some winter ball. It is truly a testament to his attitude and work ethic how he wants to find every opportunity to be on the field and continue to improve.

2022 Minor League Transaction Thread
ARobsBrewCrew replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
After missing the entire 2022 season recovering from Tommy John surgery, RHP Juan Geraldo threw a simulated game for the first time this week. The right-hander understandably struggled as a 19-year-old with A Carolina in 2021 and will still only be 21-years-old for the majority of the ‘23 season. Interesting young arm to keep an eye on going forward. -
Spoke with Henderson and Contreras today. Henderson has not been ruled out for AFL action, however he is not sure when (or if) he will see the mound this fall. Contreras is NOT replacing Henderson, merely a late addition.
-
You can add RHP Luis Contreras to the list of farmhands partaking in the Arizona Fall League. The reliever was in uniform today and should take the mound within the coming days.

Ruiz hit .333 at AAA in September (60 AB) with 3 HR, 14 RBI, and 15 SB. Not sure where his 0-20 was but that means he went 20-40 the rest of the month… -

Should be pointed out that Ruiz was possibly the Brewers farm system’s hottest hitter over the past three weeks. I assume, however, you are referring to his struggles in the big leagues which is fair.
