  1. Former Brewers Rule 5 pick Colin Walsh will be coming out of retirement for the European Baseball Championships next year, representing Ireland.
  2. Venezuelan RHP Jose Arias has been signed to a minor league contract. That’s all the info we have on Arias at the moment.
  3. Haven’t seen it reported elsewhere, but, according to Baseball America, C David Garcia has been re-signed to a minor league contract. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/minor-league-transactions-oct-1-29-2024/
  4. RHP Eric Prado recently underwent Tommy John surgery and will miss the entire 2025 season. He will still just be 20 years old when he returns to the mound in 2026.
  5. Francisco Nina, who played one season in the Brewers farm system in 2022, passed away earlier this week in the Dominican Republic. He was 20 years old and had been battling cancer for the better part of a year.
  6. C Jeferson Quero celebrated his 22nd birthday today by getting some at bats in an instructional fall league game, his first game action in more than six months.
  7. 1B Ernesto Martinez, Jr. will return to the Brewers organization in 2025 in what will be his 10th year and 8th season with the club. He agreed to a new contract today after a few weeks of discussions.
  8. As of this morning, injury/severity is still TBD for Woodward. It is very possible that his season is in jeopardy. Not the end of the world though as long as it doesn’t affect his season next year, fingers crossed.
  9. About two weeks ahead of schedule too!
  10. Spoke with Galindez today and it seems as though he has avoided the worst case scenario. He has undergone a ligament repair which will sideline him for the season, but he has avoided Tommy John surgery. The hope is that he will be ready come spring training rather than midseason next year.
  11. Old friend INF Jake Hager has been picked up by the Chicago Cubs for his 14th pro season.
  12. RHP Sam Gardner is still a number of weeks away from returning to the mound and, at this point, is targeting August 1 for his return.
  13. Thompson actually requested and was granted his release. Opportunity has not been there for him to break through in Milwaukee and he now gets out of his AAA minimum contract and will make 5x more in his next contract. Thompson shared with me that between 5-10 teams are interested in his services. Just a matter of finding which is best for him and his family!
  14. I certainly try my best to share info when I can! I should reiterate that it’s possible Baez will miss an extended period of time. It was just that early indications were that his injury was minor and I haven’t heard anything different so that is still my assumption. Sometimes those situations of hopefully only missing days turn into missing weeks or months as has been the case with Ryan Birchard and his oblique issue.
  15. Woodward hopes to be back on the mound in games within the next week or two. Outlook for Crow is still the same at this point as it was this spring.
  16. Last I heard, Baez was dealing with something very minor, hence the retroactive placement on the IL originally. I’m not sure if it has turned into something more serious or not. This spring, the organization was hopeful for Crow to get into game action in the fall (instructs/AFL) and anything sooner would just be icing on the cake. I will reach out for information on all three and see if anything comes back.
  17. For those wondering about his recent absence, 3B Eric Bitonti tweaked a muscle but will return to the lineup this week.
  18. RHP Joseph Hernandez is back in the Mariners organization after signing with Seattle last week.
  19. I haven’t heard anything since late April, but his absence has been longer than anyone originally expected. I’ll check in with him again, but I expect a similar response of hopefully not too much longer.
  20. Not really surprising, he’s already been out nearly 60 days. This move just means his absence will be a total of at least 60 days, not that he’ll be out another two months. In the meantime, it allows for another opening to bring someone stateside from the DSL (or sign someone).
  21. 3B Demetrio Nadal is still about 2-3 weeks from his stateside debut.
  22. Both RHP Aldrin Gonzalez and LHP Wande Torres are nearing their returns from Tommy John surgery. They both expect to make their season debuts within the next week or two.
  23. For those that struggle to find info about the DSL like me, I spoke with Ben Badler about when the league is supposed to get underway this year. He told me that even the teams themselves have not received the schedule for this season yet which is absolutely ridiculous. However, the expectation is that the DSL campaign will begin on June 1 or June 3.
  24. 05/04/24 Biloxi Shuckers sent 3B Brock Wilken on a rehab assignment to ACL Brewers. 05/04/24 SS Demetrio Nadal assigned to ACL Brewers from DSL Brewers 2. As I expected, here is the Nadal move as well as a pleasant surprise rehab assignment. I still believe that there will be more moves on the pitching side in the coming days because not all of those pitchers currently on the roster are healthy.
  25. Nadal is in Arizona which means there will be at least a couple more official additions to the roster before May 4.
