  1. No way I'd put Miz on the playoff roster. He's just too immature. Murphy just can't trust him to even pitch one clean inning. Right now it's between his ears and the Crew just should shut him down until it's meaningless and then maybe trot him out there in a nothing type game.
  2. I believe the Brewers keep Peralta then use the QO to get the draft pick after 2026. I don't see them re-signing Woody, the price will be too high for too many years. They have 5 or 6 good, young, quality pitchers to round out the staff next year. I think one of the biggest decisions will be CF and possibly 1B (depending on what Arnold thinks of Vaughn). I don't think any other position (maybe late pen help) needs upgrading like CF. Churio is a decent LF, but not anywhere close to a competent CF. Perkins just doesn't have the bat to be anything other than a 4th OF. Mitchell can't be relied on because of his extensive injury history. Bader might be an option if the Twins don't re-sign him. There are trade options also out there. I think Joey O. hits better next year. With his G.G. type defense at SS and with what's coming up, he starts again next year. Durbin has become a reliable 3B and there are few better, affordable options available.
  3. Churio should have caught that fly ball. He gave away two more runs with terrible OF play. I know Murphy has no choice because of Perkin's terrible bat. Quintana isn't doing himself any favors either. He didn't even look at the runners on and allowed a double steal w/o a throw because they had such huge jumps.
  4. How many times can Yelich choke in one game!! Doesn't even bother to swing at a pitch right down main street and whiffs once again.
  5. He had to know what was coming. Churio just cannot lay off that pitch, especially in clutch situations.
  6. How stupid can you get. I don't know if it was Contreras or Miz, but he threw the same pitch in the same location three times in a row. First two times the guy hit rockets foul, then the same pitch for the third time he kills for an HR. That's just stupid baseball.
  7. Perkins' bat is a liability right now. When you're in a slump as bad as he is, you never take a 3rd strike, Milwaukee needs to get healthy (don't know if that's possible this late in the season) and let him be the late inning replacement and only bat occasionally.
  8. Jansen had a great pitch to bunt and he pushed it to 1st. They teach you to bunt to 3rd in in that situation in little league.
  9. Perkins has been horrible as of late and hitting .214/80 ops+.. I have no idea why Seigler is on the field, .203/51 ops+,.. Bauers .184/80 ops+ may be the worst of the bunch.
  10. I'd hate to be Murphy trying to figure out his pen. Today the arson squad showed up. He really doesn't have any options. Uribe has to be the closer by default. I don't trust Mears to be anything but a mop-up guy. If it's the elbow, Miller is done for the year. Koenig hasn't been consistent enough to be confident in him late. It might have to be Ashby, but he too has been on again - off again. It would be huge if Yoho could contribute, but his track record is awful. It's a horrible predicament to be in this late in the year.
  11. Vaughn is back in his White Sox mode. 5 for his last 31 with only 3 RBIs. Milwaukee has to get him hot somehow.
  12. Just when you thought it can't get any worse, it does. They look like the Rockies on D tonight. Bull pen has been an arson squad. Hopefully it's another walk-off 9th.
  13. Seigler is hitting .204 with about the same slugging pct... He's not a major league playr , but Milwaukee has nothing at AAA to replace him.
  14. I think Lockridge is destined to be a 5th OF (call up from AAA when needed). With Perkins they don't need another OF when Churio gets back. I think Seigler is another one of those AAA emergency call-up type guys. He's hitting .208 and slugging .208. More Ks than hits and not that great a fielder. He is a 3rd catcher so that gives him some MLB value.
  15. This ump is a great example of the need for the automated ump behind the plate. Nothing consistent.
  16. Boy that inning was pathetic. Crew needs a lot better ABs the way Woodruff is throwing. He's not going to make it past 4.
  17. A fabulous turn by Bryce! Nobody in baseball does it better. That's one of the reasons why Murphy doesn't want to move him.
  18. I would imagine Myers is headed to Nashville tomorrow. Everything was up in the zone and very hittable. Last year might have been it for him. I'm not sure who to bring up, but they need an arm for the pen.
  19. He's back to Mr. roll-over or whiff. He's in one of his cold phases once again. Hopefully he can somehow find "it" soon. With Churio out and Contreras not going so well, the Crew needs him badly.
  20. You forgot Collins in the OF. I see Mitchell being moved in a trade with Perkins the backup OF. Murphy moving Turang off 2B. I definitely don't believe Murphy will move Turang off 2B. Frelick (RF) - Churio (CF) - Contreras (C) - Yelich (DH) - Vaughn (1B) - Wilken (3B) - Collins LF) - Turang (2B) - Ortiz/SS aquired in trade (SS) Bench: Perkins - Adams - Durbin - Haase (no way they p/u Jansen's $12M option)
  21. The popularity of maple bats hs a lot to do with the problem. Maple tends to splinter a lot more than the Ash bats that were used almost exclusively years ago. Ash bats would crack, but rarely splinter the way maple bats do. I think you're right about composite bats in the near future.
  22. I was really bummed that Arnold did nothing to upgrade the infield depth. If anyone goes down all they have is Monasterio (.184/55 OPS+) and Zeigler (.185/21 OPS+). Arnold had plenty of opportunities and the prospect depth to do it. I understand doing next to nothing to upgrade the lineup, but getting bench depth was doable.
  23. Agreed! They got a 28 yr. old minor leaguer and got rid of Cortes' remaining salary. While many of the top teams are getting better, Arnold sits on his thumbs.
  24. Too passive! Jansen won't change much. Still a glaring need at SS and 3B, pen could be upgraded. Arnold has to get creative and find somebody not on the obvious trade block, but it looks like he's going to stand pat and once again hope to get out of their first round in the playoffs.
  25. No, no, no. He's scheduled to make OVER $200M (about $25.5M for the next 8 years). No thanks.
