  1. I too think the Brewers have done almost nothing to improve the team. They are definitely a worse offensive team going into this season. However I don't believe Iglesias is worth the investment. Milwaukee might as well go with Dunn/Durbin and use this year as a "prove it" year for some of their minor leaguers.
  2. I agree that it's time for the Brewers to find out if Black can play or not. However, barring any major injuries, where is he going to play? The Brewers rely on their excellent defense for wins and Black is reportedly very limited defensively at 3B and 1B. Bauers got a lot of starts at 1B because he was a much better defensive 1B than Hoskins. Black isn't. If Hoskins has a bounce back year like I'm hoping, that will limit Black even more. I believe Yelich will be the primary DH. Right now it looks like Contreras will be the clean-up hitter, so in order to rest him and keep his bat in the lineup, I see him getting 30+ games as the DH. Without a trade, Perkins will be the 4th OF with Yelich getting some time in LF when Contreras DHs. Four of the 5 OFs hit LH, (Perkins a switch hitter) so I don't see much for Black out there either. A lot depends on what Milwaukee does in the upcoming days to address 3B/SS. A trade of an OF could open up a spot for Black.
  3. I'm shocked a cost conscious team like the Rays would offer Kim that kind of contract. He won't be ready until the end of May or June so they don't even get a full season from him. They have dumped guys who were making less. Pre-season the Rays have about a 2% chance of winning the W.S. so that makes it even more puzzling.
  4. The bottom line is, right now the Brewers have about a 2 1/2% chance of winning the W.S. About a 4% chance of winning the NL championship. I don't see any additions that will move the needle regardless of the money spent.
  5. In Detroit, Boras said they have refused any short term deals. The Tigers refused Boras' $200M demand for Bregman.
  6. What do either of those guys give the Brewers that Frelick doesn't offensively? Two utility guys who offer nothing more than what the Brewers already have. They would be replacing two pre-arby guys (Frelick and Monasterio) so there wouldn't be any savings. If they trade Frelick, I'd rather see them trade him for offensive help.
  7. I wouldn't waste time on Lopez, Walls, Cabrera, Ramos, Julien, or Perdomo. None of them offer any more offensive help then what the Brewers already have. Sweeney has good minor lg. numbers, but hasn't been able to carry that to the big leagues. Wagner has little power and looks to be a utility type player. Massey is interesting and has shown some power. It looks like he is a 2B only guy though and I think the Royals would want much more than the Brewers want to give up for him. Josh Smith could hit 18-19 HRs in Milwaukee and plays a good 3B. He's the best of the rest and would probably cost less than Massey to aquire.
  8. I like the team and if the Brewers could pull off the swindle to get Lowe for Frelick, all Brewer nation would be very happy. However, I can't see the Rays trading Lowe who is their best infielder by far. Frelick helps their OF, but he has no power and weakens infield and the offense. Lowe's replacements would be Mead, who has been a flop so far. They are looking at him for 3B. Their #1 prospect Williams, is a SS but he struck out over 300 times in the last two years in the low minors. He isn't ready for the show. I guess if the Rays were totally tanking and just clearing salary they might give it some thought.
  9. I think Rodgers salary demands are going to be too high for a bench type guy. They can get a guy like Moncada much cheaper. If they have to start Moncada at 3B then use Durbin and Black (barring a trade) along with Perkins & Haase for the bench. I don't see Monastario making the 26-man roster.
  10. I don't think you could be more wrong. The knock on Contreras BEFORE he came to Milwaukee was his defense. Since he's been with Milwaukee he has become one of the best catchers in baseball and a very intregal part of the Brewers offense and defense. While I can't ever see a 10 year extension, I see him continuing to be one of the very best for years.
  11. I agree that counting on Durbin for 500 ABs at 3B isn't going to work very well. Murphy has said he prefers to leave Turang at 2B, so getting a 3B who can hit is the primary need for now. I don't agree on the DH however. I see the Brewers with excellent DH numbers, using Yelich as the primary DH and Contreras for 30 or more games there. That leaves a place for Black (LF) if one of the OFs has to be traded to get a 3B and allows Yelich to ease back into playing LF more in 2026.
  12. I just don't see any interest in Solano. Not much power for 3B, negative numbers with the glove and 37 years old. I think the Brewers have internal options who can give them equal or better play.
  13. It would go down as one of the stupidest trades in MLB history.
  14. I think Yelich is smart enough to know that with him coming off a major injury, being the primary DH is the right thing to do THIS year. He'll get some opportunities in LF and he can see how it goes and maybe rethink things in 2026. I look for him to come back and have another very good year. Given what it would take to replace him with the size of contracts sky rocketing, I don't think the Brewers even consider trading him unless they are overwhelmed with an offer. No way I'm dealing Quero if the Brewers are looking at possibly dealing Contreras down the road.
  15. Unbelievable $21.05M one year deal.
  16. I don't think Brujan is even worth wasting a spot on the 40 man roster. Milwaukee has Durbin and other young guys waiting in the wings who I'd play long before I'd waste time on Brujan.
  17. I don't see any way Hoskins plays mostly against LHP, not for $18M. With Yelich getting the huge majority of the DH opportunities and Contreras getting 35-40, it's hard to see where Black gets many PAs unless they trade one of the OFs or there's injuries.
  18. Torres was a minus 5.9 UZR and a minus 5 FRV.. One of the worst 2B in all of baseball. For a team like Milwaukee that puts such a premium on defense, I believe he's way out of the picture.
  19. Is Hoskins going to be the DH or is Yelich coming off an injury going to be the primary DH
  20. NO. Robert has been on the IL countless times over the years and is too big a risk. He's $17M as a rental or $57M over the next 3 years. I doubt if Arnold wants to exceed the budget for a huge injury risk.
  21. I think Durbin gets a shot at the starting 3B job and the Brewers pickup Moncada/DeJong in case he can't handle MLB pitching. Or they get Moncada to start at 3B and keep Durbin as the 3B/utility guy for insurance. I believe Yelich is slotted as the everyday DH (LF when Contreras DHs) so I don't see any use for a higher priced 1B unless they can somehow move Hoskins. Black would backup 1B, 3B, OF.....
  22. I don't know if Arraez solves anything for the Brewers. He is a rental with no power and a below average glove. I would rather see Williams go for players with more control, better fielders, and somebody with some power.
  23. Why would the Brewers want Lux? He is a very weak defensive 2B and a lefty hitter who hit .251/.703 OPS. Where would they play him? From what I'm seeing on the Dodger sites, it sure looks like they are not moving Freeland (their #2 prospect). Sheehan has regressed a little and might not be ready until late July or August and then on limited innings. Miller was beyond awful in the majors and not that good in AAA in 2023 or 2024. I'd take him if he was packaged with Gonsolin and something else besides Lux. Sheehan/Gonsolin + would be the second choice.
  24. I think the Cardinals might think about it IF they are dumping payroll. The Brewers would have fill 1B with power before they even think about this. Would Arrenado waive his NTC to go to Milwaukee? If the Brewers are looking to rid themselves of Hoskins' contract, why in the world would they invest $67M in an aging veteran? At a time when the Brewers are looking to cut payroll, Arrenado and Yelich would take up about 40% of the entire payroll. Walker further adds to the outfield backlog. Too many unknowns.
  25. The Yankees said Volpe is their SS and if the sign Adames it would be as a 3B with Chizholm moving to 2B to replace Torres.
