  1. Schneider offer nothing the Brewers don't already have. Losing two key pen guys for nothing is silly.
  2. I just don't see much of anything in Lockridge besides his defense. He's going to be 29 next year and I think it's extremely unrealistic to believe his bat is going to suddenly get anywhere near starting caliber for Milwaukee. I don't see him as anything more than AAAA type depth. Mitchell is by far the best hope of the three (Mitchell-Perkins-Lockridge) but his health is a huge question mark. A third OF is a glaring need for the Brewers.
  3. Campbell looks like he could help immediately, but I don't know if he's the bat the Brewers are looking for. I guess it would depend on what they have to give up to get him. No way I'd touch the Yankee trade. Reyzelman is a relief pitcher and little or no help at all. Jones is a whiff machine. He's struck out in 33% of his PAs in AAA! Milwaukee doesn't need somebody like that.
  4. The Brewers don't need to spend money on a well below average pitcher. They have more than enough depth right now. Plus they can spend the money much, much better on a big bat.
  5. I'm hoping the Brewers see something in Zerpa that he didn't display with the Royals. Otherwise this is extremely underwhelming! Zerpa looks to be worse than DL Hall and just another long reliever. On the surface this makes the Brewers worse. Mears had more value and Collins was a versatile bench piece. Trading BOTH guys for Zerpa seems ridiculous.
  6. I think Freddy would bring a lot more than a platoon 1B and a relief pitcher. No way I'd make the deal with the Yankees. Neither guy is even close to being of any help in 2026.
  7. This one would be tough. The trade doesn't do anything for the Brewers in 2026 if they are seriously trying to make the W.S..... Tong obviously is the prize. A great big arm with a high ceiling. I don't know if the Mets would do it unless they could extend Peralta. Williams doesn't offer much considering all the young talent the Brewers have coming up. I don't know if Baty helps at all. He hit more HRs than Durbin, but had fewer RBIs. Durbin's OBP was better and his glove is much better at 3B. Considering the premium Milwaukee puts on defense, I'd rather have Durbin at the hot corner.
  8. One thing, there is one too many players listed so either Mono or Ortiz has to go. As far as the trades: I can't see any value in getting Marquez when Patrick would very capably fill that spot. I think your trade values for Peralta are close (although I don't see the Mets kicking in the additional $15M). However, I wouldn't trade Peralta for a part time player in Buxton. I believe the Brewers could do better. Like wiguy94, I don't see any way the D'Backs would take such a weak package for Marte. No way they include the money. Why would Milwaukee want Bryan Garcia, even for a filler in AAA?
  9. I would like to get Bichette, but I too think he'll get closer to $200M next year and price the Brewers out of the picture. I don't believe Milwaukee will have any interest in Schwarber. Yelich played only 19 games in LF last year because of his back. He pretty much has to be the DH again next year. The big bat they really need will have to come in a trade.
  10. Beavers over Mayo. The O's think Mayo looks to be pretty much a 1B . He has done poorly with the bat in MLB. I think Beavers looks to have a bigger upside but, like Mayo, has a high whiff rate that is concerning. Beavers could be a decent RF moving Sal to CF. Gibson is the one I'm not sure about. His AAA numbers are pathetic (a small sample granted, but still very poor). I think Milwaukee could look elsewhere to get a better return.
  11. If the rumors can be believed and Milwaukee is trying to restrict payroll, I can't see any way the even think about Marte. $107M is a ton of money for a guy on the wrong side of 30 with some questionable character problems.
  12. I don't see Murphy moving all three guys. Durbin did just fine at 3B and deserves to start again next year. Turang is a big part of the Brewers' defense at 2B. IF Ortiz starts I think Murphy puts him at SS.
  13. I'm pretty sure Milwaukee would jump at #1, especially with Ross in the deal. He needs to find some control, but could be a real steal. He could help right away with some fine tuning. Mauricio would be a good multi-position option. I wouldn't do the Ashby trade because Wisenhunt isn't nearly the prospect he once was and the risk is too great. Martinez is too far away. Ashby is too valuable to lose for such an insufficient return. No chance I'd do the Vaughn thing. Milwaukee loses a bat the desperately need and Mayfield is only in A and also too far away.
  14. For me, I'm not giving up Henderson and Pratt just to get Skubal for a one-and-done. Peralta is pretty darn good and he too gives Milwaukee a good shot at the playoffs. Then the Brewerss could use the $13M they'd be saving on something else.
  15. Heim last year was a 0.4 WAR. That would mean Quero would have to be a 3.6 to exceed Contreras' 3.9 WAR this last year. I don't see that happening. I can't see the Brewers getting a big enough return for Contreras to make them even consider a trade.
  16. IF they keep Peralta I don't see any problems. Go forward w/o Mears and Zastrynzy. Starting staff: Peralta - Woodruff - Miz - Priester - Henderson/Patrick. Pen: Longmen-- Henderson or Patrick (whomever doesn't start) - Gasser - Hall - Anderson ---- Late innings--- Ashby - Koenig - Megill - Uribe 4 lefties and 4 righties.... Henderson, Patrick, and Gasser can fill in as starters.
  17. Maybe Reese McGuire if they don't think Quero is ready yet. Lefty hitter with some power. Decent backup.
  18. I don't see Milwaukee trading Peralta for such a low level package. Benge has to prove he can hit better pitching and isn't the power bat they need. Pena is way too young to even evaluate and too many years away. Thorton looks to be the #5 type guy that is more of a throw-in than a prospect. I think the Brewers are in a "go for it all" mode and would want immediate impact players. Otherwise just keep Peralta and take the comp pick.
  19. If the Brewers are going to trade Peralta, I'd much rather they put him in a pkg. for a power hitting OF or IF. I don't think Senga isn't worth $30M to the Brewers. Sproat to me is a #5/longman type prospect. (Tong woud be a different story). Mauricio could help somewhat, but he doesn't solve the power bat problem.
  20. I think some Brewer fans are delusional with the weak packages they would offer for Buxton or Ryan and Buxton. With so many teams looking for good starting pitching, Ryan alone would bring in much more. Perhaps some teams would be scared away by Buxton's extensive injury history. If that happens and the Twins are looking for a straight salary dump, then just maybe they'd listen to a weaker package for him. If the Brewers were to aquire Buxton, I don't see how theys could DH him twice a week. Yelich is going to be a full time DH in 2026.. He played LF maybe 20 times last year and considering his back problems, I don't see him getting even that many games in LF in 2026. Murphy likes to DH Contreras when he's not catching, and I think he DHs even more in 2026 (maybe against lefties and sits Yelich) to keep him from wearing down late. That leaves almost no time for another DH unless you want Yelich to sit even more.
  21. I think that ship has sailed. I don't see Murphy even considering Black in his plans. Black needs to get traded and maybe find a utility spot on the bench with somebody.
  22. Just about the exact same team as in 2025. I don't think it's good enough to get to the W.S.....They need another big bat on the left side of the infield or in the outfield.
  23. If you are not willing to pay Vaughn $8M for a platoon 1B with so so defense, why would you pay O'Hearn $13M to platoon and a negative UZR and Rdrs? I can't see paying O'Hearn $13M if they keep Vaughn.
  24. There is zero chance the Brewers throw away $41.5M on Wilson Contreras.
  25. Restructuring of the game has to be done in a 3 tier manner to work. Revenue sharing, hard salary cap, and a salary floor. None of the three will work alone. A stated portion of the revenue has to go to players to force a salary floor. Penalties for teams who are at the minimum for more than 3 years in a 10 year span. Salary cap is figured on AAV basis. There may have to be some grandfathering on a short term basis.
