  1. Is Hoskins going to be the DH or is Yelich coming off an injury going to be the primary DH
  2. NO. Robert has been on the IL countless times over the years and is too big a risk. He's $17M as a rental or $57M over the next 3 years. I doubt if Arnold wants to exceed the budget for a huge injury risk.
  3. I think Durbin gets a shot at the starting 3B job and the Brewers pickup Moncada/DeJong in case he can't handle MLB pitching. Or they get Moncada to start at 3B and keep Durbin as the 3B/utility guy for insurance. I believe Yelich is slotted as the everyday DH (LF when Contreras DHs) so I don't see any use for a higher priced 1B unless they can somehow move Hoskins. Black would backup 1B, 3B, OF.....
  4. I don't know if Arraez solves anything for the Brewers. He is a rental with no power and a below average glove. I would rather see Williams go for players with more control, better fielders, and somebody with some power.
  5. Why would the Brewers want Lux? He is a very weak defensive 2B and a lefty hitter who hit .251/.703 OPS. Where would they play him? From what I'm seeing on the Dodger sites, it sure looks like they are not moving Freeland (their #2 prospect). Sheehan has regressed a little and might not be ready until late July or August and then on limited innings. Miller was beyond awful in the majors and not that good in AAA in 2023 or 2024. I'd take him if he was packaged with Gonsolin and something else besides Lux. Sheehan/Gonsolin + would be the second choice.
  6. I think the Cardinals might think about it IF they are dumping payroll. The Brewers would have fill 1B with power before they even think about this. Would Arrenado waive his NTC to go to Milwaukee? If the Brewers are looking to rid themselves of Hoskins' contract, why in the world would they invest $67M in an aging veteran? At a time when the Brewers are looking to cut payroll, Arrenado and Yelich would take up about 40% of the entire payroll. Walker further adds to the outfield backlog. Too many unknowns.
  7. The Yankees said Volpe is their SS and if the sign Adames it would be as a 3B with Chizholm moving to 2B to replace Torres.
  8. I guess if this is the best they could do after they tried all other deals, Milwaukee could live with it. Clement doesn't help a bunch with the bat (.284 OBP/.692 OPS), but a good glove. Horwitz is strictly a platoon/bench guy. Neither guy does a lot to improve the team after losing Adames.
  9. I think Bowden is once again way off on this one. Lux is a -7 UZR over his career at 2B. Not what Milwaukee would want for a team that relies on defense to save runs. Last year he hit .251/.703 OPS. He does next to nothing for the offense and weakens the defense. Wrobleski in AAA last year: 5.34 ERA/more hits than IPs/1.81 WHIP/5.8 walks per 9. I think the Brewers could ask for better pitching (River Ryan for instance) and tell the Dodgers to keep Lux.
  10. Ray is 33 and has pitched exactly 34 innings total in the last two years. He is coming off TJ surgery in 2023 and is owed $50M (25 in each of next two years). In the last two years Wade has hit a total of 25 HRS and driven in a total of 79 runs. He certainly isn't a middle of the order hitter to replace a Yelich. The Brewers lose money the first two years and the offense gets worse. I would rather keep Yelich and trust he's healthy enough to help all year.
  11. Moncada has averaged less than 70 games played per year in the last three years. From 2022-2024 he has been on the IL eight times and missed 260 games. The White Sox are desperate for good players but got sick of his cronic IL stays. He can't be counted on as anything more than a back-up IF. He certainly wouldn't be my first option, but I'd offer him something like your first year offer ($1M plus incentives on games played and production). 2nd year would be a team option at $4M plus incentives like year one. No buyout.
  12. Yelich has a full NTC and from everything he's said, I doubt seriously if he would waive it to go to the Yankees unless they kicked in extra money.
  13. Williams-Henderson-Lara-Payamps to the Dodgers for Ryan-Sheehan Hoskins and Patrick to the Yankees for Cortes.......Frelick for Baty +. Time to see if Black & Baty are major leaguers or not. Sign Walker 4/$80 with $3M buyout after 3rd year. Lineup: Turang 2B - Contreras C - Yelich DH - Walker 1B - ChurioRF - DeJong/Baty 3B - Mitchell CF - Black LF - Ortiz SS C: William Contreras ($7.60M) 1B: Walker ($19.00M) 2B: Joey Ortiz ($0.80M) 3B: DeJong ($4.25M) SS: Brice Turang ($0.80M) LF: Jackson Chourio ($4.25M) CF: Garrett Mitchell ($0.80M) RF: Tyler Black ($0.80M) DH: Christian Yelich ($24.25M) 4th OF: Blake Perkins ($0.80M) Utility: Baty ($0.80M) Utility: Gio Urshela ($1.25M) Backup C: Eric Haase ($1.80M) NA: Add Dead Money Here ($.00M) SP1: Freddy Peralta ($8.25M) SP2: Aaron Civale ($8.00M) SP3: Tobias Myers ($0.80M) SP4: Brandon Woodruff ($5.00M) SP5: Cortes ($6.50M) RP: River Ryan ($0.80M) RP: Trevor Megill ($2.00M) RP: Nick Mears ($0.90M) RP: Jared Koenig ($0.80M) RP: Uribe ($0.80M) RP: DL Hall ($0.80M) RP: Yoho ($0.80M) RP: Aaron Ashby ($3.45M) NA: Add Dead Money Here ($0.00M) Payroll is 18.38% under budget
  14. I agree. The KBO is a step down from the Japanese league. It's considered to be somewhere between AA and not quite AAA type caliber. In 7 years in the KBO Kim has averaged a meager 5.2 HRs and only 22 doubles per year. I don't know if that's the kind of production the Brewers would want to invest $8M per year on.
  15. I'd hold off for a while on both guys. Made didn't even make low A yet. Far too many guys have looked great in Rk ball and fizzled out badly as the pitching gets better when they move up. Pratt struggled in Appleton in a limited amount of time. Let things play out more until offering millions to both those guys.
  16. Kike Hernandez isn't worth having. There are many better options. I wouldn't trade Mitchell or Payamps for next to nothing.
  17. I like the Crochet trade. Great move is Arnold could pull it off. However, Sheehan won't be ready until somewhere around the all-star break and then limited innings. Maybe he helps later on. The Dodgers certainly don't need him. Milwaukee still would be extremely weak at 3B. Josh Rojas (.225/.304/.641 OPS) isn't anywhere near being a starting 3B. Moncada in his place.? Rosario isn't the type fielder Milwaukee wants as a bench guy. I think DeJong would better fill that role, especially if they get Moncada. With Yelich coming off the injury, I believe the Brewers want him seeing most of the ABs as the DH with very limited time in LF. I think they want Contreras to DH around 25 - 30 games too. That would really limit Hoskins or Goldy's role.
  18. I like your thinking and much of this could be possible. However you'd be about 10% over budget. The Red Sox do want to move Devers (he was the worst fielding 3B in baseball) so Casas would be available. Maybe put Henderson in the Mayo deal. If the Mets lose out on a 1B, Hoskins could be a target and at a reasonable price for the Mets. I think Eovaldi is going to get more than a 2 year deal and over $20M per year. I don't know how much time Bieber is going to miss to start the year. If you subtract Scherzer you would get closer to budget.
  19. I like your team with a few tweeks. I think you're a little high on Walker (maybe $2M). I'd scratch Kim and add Paul DeJong (saving $8M). Gasser won't be ready so I'd use Williams + to add a #4-5 starter or take the $8-10M and p/u Quintana/Lynn with Hall the #6. Instead of Misi I'd use Yoho in the pen and let Misi start the year as a starter in AAA and be the #7 starter option. It would be a heck of a nice lineup with Walker, Moncada, and DeJong to go along with what's already there.
  20. Well done wallus. This is one of the best, realistic predictions yet. The only change I would make is Bell. From what I've seen his value is going to be somewhere in the $12-14M range. Same for Pederson. Milwaukee doesn't need them. I think the Brewers are going to try and keep Yeli healthy by using him to DH quite a bit and inserting Black in LF to see if he can be a viable asset or not. With Haase re-signed, I think Contreras gets 30 or so games as a DH when Yelich plays LF. They could also insert DeJong at 3B and have Bohm or Hoskins DH. Use the bench INF spot to sign a cheap vet like Urshela. Milwaukee might have to sweeten the pot a little to get Singer, but nothing major.
  21. I would love Diaz, but getting rid of Rhys could be problematic. The Mets (like you mentioned earlier) if they don't re-sign Alonso. Somebody mentiond Rhys + to the Yankees for Cortes which would be nice too. I wonder if the Rays would do Black + Rodriguez + Milner for Yandy? Then Devin + for Bohm.
  22. I can't see any way the Brewers trade with the cubs, but if they did I wouldn't trade for Hoerner. He has little power, doesn't drive in many runs and is owed $23.5M over the next two years. Way, way too much for him. When they trade Devin, I hope it's for somebody who will help immediately, maybes in the minors.
  23. Wisdom: .171/.237 - negative WAR - negative d-WAR - whiffs at a 37% rate. No thanks.
  24. I agree with TURBO!! I check this a coulple times a day and enjoy the varied view points on the site. Some of the participents go deep into stats that I have no idea where to find.
  25. Oh man, I wasn't even close! $18M per seems crazy, but if somebody is willing to pay it, it won't be the Brewers.
