  1. I like the team and if the Brewers could pull off the swindle to get Lowe for Frelick, all Brewer nation would be very happy. However, I can't see the Rays trading Lowe who is their best infielder by far. Frelick helps their OF, but he has no power and weakens infield and the offense. Lowe's replacements would be Mead, who has been a flop so far. They are looking at him for 3B. Their #1 prospect Williams, is a SS but he struck out over 300 times in the last two years in the low minors. He isn't ready for the show. I guess if the Rays were totally tanking and just clearing salary they might give it some thought.
  2. I think Rodgers salary demands are going to be too high for a bench type guy. They can get a guy like Moncada much cheaper. If they have to start Moncada at 3B then use Durbin and Black (barring a trade) along with Perkins & Haase for the bench. I don't see Monastario making the 26-man roster.
  3. I don't think you could be more wrong. The knock on Contreras BEFORE he came to Milwaukee was his defense. Since he's been with Milwaukee he has become one of the best catchers in baseball and a very intregal part of the Brewers offense and defense. While I can't ever see a 10 year extension, I see him continuing to be one of the very best for years.
  4. I agree that counting on Durbin for 500 ABs at 3B isn't going to work very well. Murphy has said he prefers to leave Turang at 2B, so getting a 3B who can hit is the primary need for now. I don't agree on the DH however. I see the Brewers with excellent DH numbers, using Yelich as the primary DH and Contreras for 30 or more games there. That leaves a place for Black (LF) if one of the OFs has to be traded to get a 3B and allows Yelich to ease back into playing LF more in 2026.
  5. I just don't see any interest in Solano. Not much power for 3B, negative numbers with the glove and 37 years old. I think the Brewers have internal options who can give them equal or better play.
  6. It would go down as one of the stupidest trades in MLB history.
  7. I think Yelich is smart enough to know that with him coming off a major injury, being the primary DH is the right thing to do THIS year. He'll get some opportunities in LF and he can see how it goes and maybe rethink things in 2026. I look for him to come back and have another very good year. Given what it would take to replace him with the size of contracts sky rocketing, I don't think the Brewers even consider trading him unless they are overwhelmed with an offer. No way I'm dealing Quero if the Brewers are looking at possibly dealing Contreras down the road.
  8. Unbelievable $21.05M one year deal.
  9. I don't think Brujan is even worth wasting a spot on the 40 man roster. Milwaukee has Durbin and other young guys waiting in the wings who I'd play long before I'd waste time on Brujan.
  10. I don't see any way Hoskins plays mostly against LHP, not for $18M. With Yelich getting the huge majority of the DH opportunities and Contreras getting 35-40, it's hard to see where Black gets many PAs unless they trade one of the OFs or there's injuries.
  11. Torres was a minus 5.9 UZR and a minus 5 FRV.. One of the worst 2B in all of baseball. For a team like Milwaukee that puts such a premium on defense, I believe he's way out of the picture.
  12. Is Hoskins going to be the DH or is Yelich coming off an injury going to be the primary DH
  13. NO. Robert has been on the IL countless times over the years and is too big a risk. He's $17M as a rental or $57M over the next 3 years. I doubt if Arnold wants to exceed the budget for a huge injury risk.
  14. I think Durbin gets a shot at the starting 3B job and the Brewers pickup Moncada/DeJong in case he can't handle MLB pitching. Or they get Moncada to start at 3B and keep Durbin as the 3B/utility guy for insurance. I believe Yelich is slotted as the everyday DH (LF when Contreras DHs) so I don't see any use for a higher priced 1B unless they can somehow move Hoskins. Black would backup 1B, 3B, OF.....
  15. I don't know if Arraez solves anything for the Brewers. He is a rental with no power and a below average glove. I would rather see Williams go for players with more control, better fielders, and somebody with some power.
  16. Why would the Brewers want Lux? He is a very weak defensive 2B and a lefty hitter who hit .251/.703 OPS. Where would they play him? From what I'm seeing on the Dodger sites, it sure looks like they are not moving Freeland (their #2 prospect). Sheehan has regressed a little and might not be ready until late July or August and then on limited innings. Miller was beyond awful in the majors and not that good in AAA in 2023 or 2024. I'd take him if he was packaged with Gonsolin and something else besides Lux. Sheehan/Gonsolin + would be the second choice.
  17. I think the Cardinals might think about it IF they are dumping payroll. The Brewers would have fill 1B with power before they even think about this. Would Arrenado waive his NTC to go to Milwaukee? If the Brewers are looking to rid themselves of Hoskins' contract, why in the world would they invest $67M in an aging veteran? At a time when the Brewers are looking to cut payroll, Arrenado and Yelich would take up about 40% of the entire payroll. Walker further adds to the outfield backlog. Too many unknowns.
  18. The Yankees said Volpe is their SS and if the sign Adames it would be as a 3B with Chizholm moving to 2B to replace Torres.
  19. I guess if this is the best they could do after they tried all other deals, Milwaukee could live with it. Clement doesn't help a bunch with the bat (.284 OBP/.692 OPS), but a good glove. Horwitz is strictly a platoon/bench guy. Neither guy does a lot to improve the team after losing Adames.
  20. I think Bowden is once again way off on this one. Lux is a -7 UZR over his career at 2B. Not what Milwaukee would want for a team that relies on defense to save runs. Last year he hit .251/.703 OPS. He does next to nothing for the offense and weakens the defense. Wrobleski in AAA last year: 5.34 ERA/more hits than IPs/1.81 WHIP/5.8 walks per 9. I think the Brewers could ask for better pitching (River Ryan for instance) and tell the Dodgers to keep Lux.
  21. Ray is 33 and has pitched exactly 34 innings total in the last two years. He is coming off TJ surgery in 2023 and is owed $50M (25 in each of next two years). In the last two years Wade has hit a total of 25 HRS and driven in a total of 79 runs. He certainly isn't a middle of the order hitter to replace a Yelich. The Brewers lose money the first two years and the offense gets worse. I would rather keep Yelich and trust he's healthy enough to help all year.
  22. Moncada has averaged less than 70 games played per year in the last three years. From 2022-2024 he has been on the IL eight times and missed 260 games. The White Sox are desperate for good players but got sick of his cronic IL stays. He can't be counted on as anything more than a back-up IF. He certainly wouldn't be my first option, but I'd offer him something like your first year offer ($1M plus incentives on games played and production). 2nd year would be a team option at $4M plus incentives like year one. No buyout.
  23. Yelich has a full NTC and from everything he's said, I doubt seriously if he would waive it to go to the Yankees unless they kicked in extra money.
  24. Williams-Henderson-Lara-Payamps to the Dodgers for Ryan-Sheehan Hoskins and Patrick to the Yankees for Cortes.......Frelick for Baty +. Time to see if Black & Baty are major leaguers or not. Sign Walker 4/$80 with $3M buyout after 3rd year. Lineup: Turang 2B - Contreras C - Yelich DH - Walker 1B - ChurioRF - DeJong/Baty 3B - Mitchell CF - Black LF - Ortiz SS C: William Contreras ($7.60M) 1B: Walker ($19.00M) 2B: Joey Ortiz ($0.80M) 3B: DeJong ($4.25M) SS: Brice Turang ($0.80M) LF: Jackson Chourio ($4.25M) CF: Garrett Mitchell ($0.80M) RF: Tyler Black ($0.80M) DH: Christian Yelich ($24.25M) 4th OF: Blake Perkins ($0.80M) Utility: Baty ($0.80M) Utility: Gio Urshela ($1.25M) Backup C: Eric Haase ($1.80M) NA: Add Dead Money Here ($.00M) SP1: Freddy Peralta ($8.25M) SP2: Aaron Civale ($8.00M) SP3: Tobias Myers ($0.80M) SP4: Brandon Woodruff ($5.00M) SP5: Cortes ($6.50M) RP: River Ryan ($0.80M) RP: Trevor Megill ($2.00M) RP: Nick Mears ($0.90M) RP: Jared Koenig ($0.80M) RP: Uribe ($0.80M) RP: DL Hall ($0.80M) RP: Yoho ($0.80M) RP: Aaron Ashby ($3.45M) NA: Add Dead Money Here ($0.00M) Payroll is 18.38% under budget
  25. I agree. The KBO is a step down from the Japanese league. It's considered to be somewhere between AA and not quite AAA type caliber. In 7 years in the KBO Kim has averaged a meager 5.2 HRs and only 22 doubles per year. I don't know if that's the kind of production the Brewers would want to invest $8M per year on.
